I've pulled back, because the war has mostly winded down, minus the pearl-clutching and crying. Is Israel perfect and blame-free? No, they are just better than the terrorist alternative, and it seems the area's citizens are tired of the endless coddling and indulging of the Iranians and their Palestinian proxies, and are sitting out actually doing anything (other than talking) about the situation. As for this thread, it's been overrun by piece of shit cloak-roomers, and the staff has chosen to do little about it, as is their right. C'est la vie.

Fifteen Palestinians die of starvation in Gaza's deepening hunger crisis, medics say | Reuters

Quote

Israel controls all aid supplies into the war-ravaged enclave, where most of the population has been displaced multiple times and faces acute shortages of basic necessities.

The head of the U.N. Palestinian refugee agency said on Tuesday that its staff, as well as doctors and humanitarian workers, were fainting on duty in Gaza due to hunger and exhaustion.

Quote

"Hospitals are already overwhelmed by the number of casualties from gunfire. They can't provide much more help for hunger-related symptoms because of food and medicine shortages," said Khalil al-Deqran, a spokesperson for the health ministry.

Deqran said some 600,000 people were suffering from malnutrition, including at least 60,000 pregnant women. Symptoms among those going hungry include dehydration and anaemia, he said.

Quote

Israeli military statistics showed on Tuesday that an average of 146 trucks of aid per day had entered Gaza over the course of the war. The United States has said a minimum of 600 trucks per day are needed to feed Gaza's population.

If you can't connect the dots, the starvation crisis is reaching a critical point where people will start dying en masse. We're "pearl clutching" though.

I mean....most folks were pretty pissed at Hamas for the brutal slaughter of civilians.  That made them....what is the word?  Oh yeah...."bad."  Pretty clean and clear, unambiguous.

So....tell me how Israel hunting Palestinian civilians "over a baited field" of food aid...is ANY different?  Seriously, imagine that Israel had experienced some crisis, its citizens were desperate and lining up for international food aid, and Hamas forces did to Israeli civilians exactly what Israel is doing to Palestinian civilians in Gaza.  We would -- correctly -- be calling Hamas terrorists, animals, etc.

Sorry, you want to ignore the plain fact that Israel as a state has become, and actually embraced becoming, everything it purports to hate.  When you purposefully mow down civilians lined up for food aid, you're a terrorist state.  Hamas.  Israel.  In terms of "we're good with slaughtering innocents," tell me what the difference is between them?

Sorry man, those women and children were being used by Hamas as human shields for the food.  Israel had to kill them, they just did.

Are you implying that the US has no national interest in attacking Iran's Nuclear bomb capability?

Cops and criminals operate in a system of national civil and criminal laws, which include physically enforceable penalties. International geopolitical relations don't exist in classroom, or a courtroom. They are a jungle. Thinking the ICC, or the UN, have any actual enforceable power, is a fallacy.

International law, and diplomatic relations, are great things... up to a point. Once one of the parties has shown they routinely can't be trusted to operate within the principles of the agreed framework, international law is only good for lawyers and idealists to mentally masturbate themselves into believing in "higher standards".

It's nice when two civilized nations can negotiate in good faith, and be trusted to uphold their word. Does Iran operate that way? Can they be trusted? No. So they don't get treated like they operate in good faith, or to a "higher standard".

I don't like Trump, and Israel is far from lily white in their actions, but them attacking Iran's nuclear bomb plans was a good thing. Whataboutism invoking Israel doesn't move me at all. Iran got what was coming to them, the only complaint was that it should have happened 46 years ago.

Negged for moving the Gaza goalpost.

Yeah. It's a real hoot.

I mean, if you can't laugh about posters here openly excusing, even celebrating, a vastly superior military force happily and purposefully slaughtering 100 civilians lined up out of desperation for scraps of food, well, you just don't know funny!

Before your recent conversion you did precisely this. I mean it’s great that you came to see the flaws in prior positions, but don’t fucking lecture anyone on this topic.

So…the post where I celebrated the IDF flat-out murdering civilians getting aid…I know I’m getting older and my memory ain’t great, but when exactly did I do that?

I do? Seriously…I gotta tell ya, I don’t recall ever cheering for the IDF to slaughter Palestinian civilians.

Who cares if he ends up in the right spot?

I used to think the Iraq war was good. We all have dumb thoughts in our pasts and presents.

He means you took a bit of convincing to come around on this topic. There's no real reason to bring it up other than to be a dick that I can think of.

Well, if by “come around,” you mean “think Israel was inevitably going to wage a full-on genocidal war,” I’m not there. Israel has had numerous forks in the road where it could have stayed at least close to “in bounds” on legitimate combat. But Bibi preserving his ass and the hard right prevailed, and here we are. It didn’t have to be this way…yet this is the way it is. Which is fucking evil.

I didn't bring anything up from left field or to be a dick. He still doesn't get it. Last post demonstrates. Forks in the road? Jesus. Totally divorced from teh reality on the ground.

No I mean all the discourse we went through back when Oct. 7th happened. There were a lot of people in here spouting off ahistorical, hysterical nonsense, for like 2 straight years. Even among the more well meaning posters like yourself. A lot of lessons had to be learned.

I never bring it up because it's irrelevant and pointless, as most people have come to recognize these events for what they actually are by now, and I'm not going to point out any specifics for that same reason.

Ana bringing it up now is not helpful and serves no purpose other than to try and score a few Internet points that no one gives a shit about.

I didn't bring anything up now other than point out the absurdity of brisket talking down to other posters excusing an asymmetrical military power situation as it relates to Israel and Palestine. Attention span is hard. I get it.

It doesn't matter if he fully grasps every bit of nuance or not. I know fully well the conversations that were had. What's important is he does recognize the genocide, how utterly awful Israel's leadership is, our role in perpetuating everything that's happening, etc.

Meanwhile, Steven Colbert is probably getting replaced by fucking Bari Weiss's (whose entire goddamn career is nothing but open and extreme capitulation to Israel) bitch ass, CBS news was just today demanding on national television that the dude that the Trump administration falsely imprisoned and attempted to deport for being openly pro-Palestinian while brown "condemn Hamas" as if we've come full circle, and the fucking House minority leader won't endorse the Democratic nominee for mayor in his own fucking city because he won't support Israel.

There are a lot more and a lot worse broken brains out there too worry about than someone who might have been less than agreeable on this topic 2 years ago.

Yeah. Still not clicking. Asymmetrical power dynamics aren’t inherently evil. Using asymmetrical power isn’t inherently evil. Using it against civilians…for the express purpose of ethnic cleansing…is evil.
Without relitigating all of history, after Hamas attacked on Oct 7, Israel had a right to use its power - asymmetrical as it was - to go after the perpetrators and cripple the threat. Didn’t think that was a super controversial take, but there we are. What Israel is doing now - and has been doing for a long-ass time in this “war” - is not just beyond what could have been justified, it’s just open genocidal war-criming. And again, it’s been doing so for the majority of this war.

I sincerely regret that european guilt for the atrocities they committed against european jews is manifesting in deflection as it relates to the ethnic cleansing of arab palestinians in the occupied territories. It's all just amazing stuff really.

Maybe, just maybe, you should read a book other than a medical journal. I am happy to buy you a beer and discuss in person.

Do you know how long this has been going on? Have you studied, or forbid, lived in the Middle East? I have no issue with wiping out Hamas. But shooting people, and get this, get US sponsored aid from a US sponsored group?

You like to go both ways. I get it.

I'd honestly love to have a beer and discuss broadly esp as it related to American foreign policy. I think that we'd probably agree on more than we disagree on.

I am not going to be particularly persuaded by holocaust images (again, european on european genocide) when it comes to discussing the ethnic cleansing of palestinians. But I guess good on you go boots to ground.

Israel had a right to defend itself before it decided to flatten Gaza and kill everyone that lives there, as they're still likely to do. Once they decided to do that, they lost that right as they became the aggressor again. They only lost that title for about 1 day, anyway.

And of course, they've always been the aggressor in the West Bank and every Palestinian there would be 100% justified in killing any settler and/or IDF soldier taking aggressive action against their families and homes.

The part about Western/European guilt regarding the horrific mistreatment of Jews being mostly outsourced to Palestinians is a completely valid point, it's just not the whole story.

Germany, to use the most obvious example, is completely powerless (understandably, as there is obviously a ton of guilt there) to be critical of Israel for any reason whatsoever, even though public opinion there has long shifted against what they're doing in Gaza. The unimaginable amount of guilt from the atrocities committed by the Nazis very ironically prevents them from officially recognizing any position that is critical of Israel's actions, even though they effectively mirror the actions of the Nazis at this point.

It's just a pure hell world we're living in.

Anyway I'm tired as fuck and I should be asleep but my original point was don't yell at Brisket for not knowing everything and maybe having not the best mindset on this topic 2 years ago or whatever. There's no point, his heart's in the right place. Plenty of broken brains out there to worry about.

Posts pictures of germans shooting jews and thinks its a good relevant point while bodies of dead palestinian children are stacking around American taxpayer funded bombs.
