I think part of the problem when the “everybody paid players” trope comes up is the general fan’s ignorance of the difference between $100 handshakes, which boosters have been doing at programs across

Didn't really want Dillingham anyway.

So are they preparing for this bowl game? Are we?

Man, that "retirement" didn't last long. Good get for Michigan. The rebuild might take a few seasons though.

Good hire. I wonder if this was already in the works when he "retired"

Good lord, that is so gaudy that it almost has style.  $7mm plus another $1800 per month in HOA fees.  The

The photos are amazing.  I love the one with the portraits of daughters/granddaughters from ~1980s-1990s (shown previously).  Here are two of my favorites.  The statue of a maid serving takes the cake, for me.

Whittingham will be interesting.

I remember thinking he would have been a good hire for us when we hired Sark...if he had been about 10 years younger.  And that was 4 years ago.  I guees ol' Wink will be the young guy now.

They are lucky to get Whittingham after such a shitshow...

Michigan fans are thrilled

They went after the polar opposite of the last 2 head coaches they had.  Surprisingly a smart move.  For their sake, I hope that their next few seasons are quiet and boring as shit.

I assume they threw a bunch of money for him to come for a few years to get things stable while they clean up and look for a long term coach. Good move for both if so

Gonna give him some credit and say he took the job just for the challenge.

This will probably work out very well for both. Whittingham is a good coach and his style will fit right in there. Utah and BYU are worried about which assistants (and maybe players) he will poach.

I bet the statue doesn’t even do anything useful like piss out nitro cold brew

That sales person from Anderson Renewal made a damn good pitch catching this person coming out of the grocery store.

I fully understand that sentence makes very little sense, but even my word salad isn't as fucked up as those pictures. Did you purposefully try to come up with the ugliest rooms possible? That makes Gundy's place look ALMOST tasteful.

Whittingham is going to be a very interesting choice.

He is 66, very old school on some things, hasn't been a huge fan of NIL, hasn't been known to crush recruiting, runs a dated offense that at times is very one dimensional and can be stopped easier than it should with the NFL talent they have had in the lines, and at times struggled in big games in conference.

Might be a home run, but I don't see much room between that or a big miss and not sure how much different this will be from the Rich Rod hire.

He needs a solid GM that runs in NIL/recruiting and a great offensive coordinator. He will rock it if he gets that

Maybe so, he still has some pretty strong tendencies that I am not sure translate well and I am curious about the staff he brings in at Michigan.

We know the DC isn't coming with him and does the bulk of the staff stay with Scalley or go to Ann Arbor.

Whittingham is a guy who has coached at Utah for ~ 30 years, was in Idaho 3-4 years before that, and I can't recall where he started coaching.

Harding would be a key bring and while he has been at Utah for 12 years he is from Ohio so maybe he follows to Ann Arbor.

You do know that Michigan is in the Big10? He'll be fine there.

You do know the top 3 teams in the Big 10 are not one dimensional nor going away any time soon.

Honestly. I've always kind of liked Michigan. I think it's because when I was a kid I was enamored with Charles Woodson (still am). Plus their unis and helmets are iconic af. I dunno, I'm hyped to play them, even if they're awful. Either them or ND and I'm happy. I don't hate ND like everyone else. I guess because I have a buddy who went there. I don't dislike or hate them, but it does bring me joy when they lose, except if it's aggy beating them.

Of course. My snide comment was assuming they'd get one of those "play no one worth a damn (except tosu) in 2026" Big 10 schedules. And I was wrong - in 2026-2027, they drew all 3 of those top teams - in addition to OU in 2026 and Texas in 2027. So - w/ or w/o Sherrone, they looked to have many losses in those years. 2028 will feature a more favorable schedule and the turnaround will be complete.

IIRC the Harbaugh era at Michigan opened with a quality loss to Utah. Everyone was optimistic because Michigan lost by less than the previous coach would have.

That was also basically the reaction when Saint Lou lost to Michigan in his first game in 1986, although that game had a controversial call.

Whitt is taking BYU's DC, Jay Hill, to Michigan. Hill coached under Whitt earlier in his career. The news will probably come out in the next day or two.

Saw Jay Hill report on "Locked on Big 12". Reporter expects more folks from Big 12 to join Whittingham at Michigan
