It's 2 hours of a family drama and 10 mins of zombie action. That's why it's become a love it or hate it movie.

I think a lot of the "hate it" crowd forgets that 28 Days Later was 80 mins of human drama and 10 mins of zombie action.

next day I think I like it even more.  it is definitely an odd movie.  if you go in craving a basic story with zombies and a bit of death you may be disappointed.  keep an open mind to plot and also to the filmmaking aspect; boyle takes some chances.  the ralph fiennes character was especially great.  that storyline was so creepy and strange while also, maybe, the most human aspect of the movie.
so yeah definitely weird but I loved it.  curious if anyone else ends up feeling the same.

I wouldn’t say I loved it but I agree with this take in general. There were a couple of things I didn’t like (including the tonal whiplash at the very end), but there was some really cool/fun shit. The chase at night was especially awesome. But yeah, it is a very strange movie.
