I saw a trade proposal on espn that was Sengun, Van Vleet, and Phoenix's 2027 pick for Giannis.  I'm doing that in a heartbeat if that is all it takes.

Agreed. We’re going to need some luck with the Phoenix and Dallas picks. I think they’re play-in type teams for the foreseeable future and they have no incentives to tank. The Brooklyn swap in 2027 is the golden ticket.

Anyone who wants Giannis is not reading the tea leaves correctly. He's becoming injury prone and his game is not going to age well. Hard pass.

Yeah currently out 2-4 weeks with a calf strain.

I would have done something like that last summer.  Not now.  They can get Tari with him agreeing to a deal with them, Capela, Van Vleet and picks including the Phoenix pick and we’ll take Kouzma if they require it, or they can pound sand.  They’ll then tell us to do the same, and that’s ok.

And after yesterday any team looking at him  better get every image available of that calf and Achilles

Y'all are fucking high if you trade Sengun for Giannis.

Stone would never do it. He's not that stupid. He knows the Rockets' window 8s just opening and he has the balance sheet and draft picks to keep that window openn for the duration of the Sengun, Thompson, Smith, and Sheppard experience.

I honestly don't think that's enough to make the Bucks say yes.  If I'm them, I want max picks and a few young guys who are unproven. Yeah Sengun looks really really promising, but him + 1 FRP doesn't exactly setup the Bucks to compete in the near or long future. They need a gigantic bounty to have any chance of rebounding, and that means more risk for more reward. Less proven players with upside + more picks is likely more valuable to them. Not that the Rockets have interest in sending that many picks, but I think that's what it would take.

eason isn't resigning here, he needs to be put out as trade bait

Correct. Eason, Van Vleet, and the stay ready crew are the contracts available to improve the team.

Steve Brule GIF by MOODMAN

Sengun is a top 15 player in the league - probably top 12. Kid is a fucking animal. I'm not trading him unless I get another young superstar back like Luka or Cade.

Like I literally wouldn't trade him 1 for 1 for Giannis.

Tari Eason is going to into restricted free agency and there's no immediate need to trade him.  I'm a little skeptical that another team is going to be offering that much more than the reported Rockets offer for someone who's missed a whole season's worth of games in his first four seasons of play.

I’m there. He has more value this season and next than any 1 for 1 trade we could make. He’s going to sign 1 year deal next summer and walk in 2027. RFA’s are currently radioactive in the NBA. I believe all of the high profile RFA’s resigned with their current team. Grimes signed a 1 year $8.7 million contract. I assume the Eason deal to be similar.

Though Tari Eason and the Houston Rockets didn't agree to a rookie extension before the start of the season, the Rockets reportedly came in with a strong offer.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported on The Hoop Collective that Houston offered Eason a deal with more than $100 million.

"From what I understand, they made Eason a strong offer," Windhorst said. "It was in excess of $100 million. But I don't know how much of it would have been guaranteed, and they didn't do that deal."

I’m not following your point and was referencing that offer in my post.  You think another team is giving him the Jabari contract as a restricted free agent?

I think the most likely scenario is a sign and trade after the season and that’s mostly if it’s mutually beneficial, and not because Tari has some kind of incredible leverage.

Good. Let the Bucks keep their aging commodity who is past peak but being ultra paid. Bill Belichick had a great run based on a philosophy of "better to trade a player a year early than a year late." Giannis is closer to the point of being a horrible contract than he is of being a top 3 player in the league.

I was ready to call a Sengun/Giannis trade nuts but I just looked up his stats and Giannis is really, really well rounded.

I’s probably favor standing pat because of health concerns (particularly due to age and mileage), but a healthy Giannis on this team is undoubtedly a stronger squad.

If Houston traded away Sengun for Giannis, I would consider walking away after 40 years of being a Rockets fan. It's already hard enough staying engaged with the current professional sports environment.
