So maybe the better qb is actually starting this year also?  I know it’s a grim thought.

Well if Sark can actually develop KJ we won’t have to play Dia Bell next year.

Arch is not the guy unfortunately. All year he’s been dogshit. The lack of run game and bad OL play is also inexcusable too.

He was 16/29.  It wasn't great but with that line and that running game and being behind all game that's probably about as good as it gets.

Cool. I still think he just simply is not making enough of the “easy” wide pile throws, holding the ball too long, and not running soon enough.

I just simply can’t say “it’s all the OL” and absolve Arch completely.

These threads are obviously idiotic but FWIW, Caldwell came in cold and threw the best anticipation pass of the game. Wingo wasn’t open when he released it but broke open to the pass precisely how it is drawn up. Perfect anticipation. Which stands in stark contrast to Manning needing at least six seconds in the pocket and someone to break open by ten yards before he throws it. Very frustrating.

The announcers said as much. Arch had multiple wide open receivers on the last drive and didn’t pull the trigger.

At this point, give him the first quarter or half vs OU and if it’s all the same, let Caldwell play. None reason not to.

Even QBs with great O lines make some dogshit throws.  Arch makes some dogshit throws to your point probably one or two too many.  He needs to improve.  He is not the primary problem with this team.  YOU WIN FUCKING FOOTBALL GAMES IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL ON THE OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE LINES.

Caldwell seems fine at throwing footballs to our guys and moving the chains but Arch does a much better job in those Warby Parker commercials than Caldwell would. and has a far superior last name. I see no reason for Caldwell to start until his dad can get at least a little bit famous.

This thread, the OP and a lot of these posts are strange. Arch didn’t play great, but when his line played well in the 4th quarter, he played well. He missed some throws late, and every QB does every game. But he was good except the last few plays.

He isn’t in the top 3 of reasons for why we lost. DL in the first half, OL through 3 quarters, and corners getting worked all were significantly worse than Arch. Probably Tre and Sark too.  I actually came away encouraged, relative to OSU or UTEP games.

He’s not going to be benched, nor should he.

What in Sark’s time at Texas has shown you he is capable of developing a QB? Because he’s had two 5* QBs that have gotten worse under him.

You literally don’t watch Dak or the criticism he gets for every single pass and make this rally fucking pathetic Strawman.

arch is missing easy fucking throws.  Consistently. They are NOT in the same fucking zip code and the comparison is apples to oranges.

I even gave arch credit for gaming and making some plays. But no one that isn’t biased is saying “Arch is good enough” right now.

even with the piss poor play calling and horrendous OL he’s simply not doing his job. You can never say that about Dak.

You're a fucking dipshit. I watched Dak miss an easy TD throw week 1 against Philly this season that could have won the game.

I watch both of them plenty. One of them is 21 and has started 7 or 8 games ever post high school. One of them is making $60M a year and has been playing in the NFL for a decade.

Oh shove it. You both know it’s not a 1-1 comparison.

Dak will go 35-45 for 300 and 3 TDs and the ONE time he under/overthrows the idiots will say “see, told you can’t do it”.

arch is not completely fucking screen passes.  Over and under throwing almost every pass.

y’all are being disingenuous to support a flawed QB who simply has not been good enough so far. Even if you count the OL issues.

Jesus how fucking dare you use this ridiculous argument.

I think it’s clear you’re dying on the Dak hill. Which makes you not the most objective poster on the topic. Dak and Arch comparisons are dumb because they play on quite a different level as you know. Arch isn’t good enough now. But I strongly suspect he will be.

you know exactly what I’m talking. Dak is judged on a pass by pass basis.  Criticized worse than arch could ever dream of.

if you’re gonna sit here with a strait fucking Face and say not only that arch hasn’t been bad, but has been “fine becuase the OL” then you’re damned near as lost on football as futerman.

Because they’re not the same fucking QB.

Dak has NEVER been this fucking bad for this long. Dak doesn’t miss wide open players consistently, doesn’t take sacks he shouldn’t consistently.

As I was telling @hobbes2702 during the game. Arch is always looking for the long ball. I think the only check down he threw was the crossing route to the TE early in the game. He is holding the ball forever, and as such we cannot sustain drives. Hobbes said the progression was deep to short. I told him EVERY play that has multiple routes requires you to hold the ball for longer routes to develop. However, you have to know what you are looking at pre snap. If you walk up to the line and see a two high shell, you know what you are looking at, and you know what it can morph into. If you have a curl call on the outside it will be available. What Quinn was good at is walking to the line, knowing his options, and getting the football out quickly.

You saw him miss one fucking throw?  I don’t remember that hat I sure as shit saw 4 dropped passes 3 of them were TDs. Not sure I saw a missed TD throw.

but I saw not one not two but possibly 3 missed TD passes by arch.

PLUS several more that are easy completions.

you are comparing a guy that gets unfairly criticized despite a decade of evidence that he’s at worst a good QB, to a guy who we literally have 4 games of evidence he can’t be consistent at all.

Im sorry im not going to ignore that cause I defend Dak against way more ridiculous complaints.

well if you believe most on this board it was only because Sark was stupid and made commitments to the Ewers family.  No way it could have been that he actually knows more than a bunch of message board posters, and wanted to give the team the best chance to win. Of course now, he is still stupid and only starting Arch due to last name and NIL.  No way he knows more than a bunch of message board posters.

Guys guys guys…both the O-line and Arch can both suck. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. Thats why this team is so special.

Combine what the OL sucks at (everything), what Arch sucks at (quick reads, throwing the ball under pressure), and here we are. How on earth we don't have more "Take the snap, get the ball out" stuff is beyond me, considering that's kind of all we did 2023-2024.

Talent WRT accuracy and completing routine passes is not at all clear at this point.

Manning will start until he has some type of 4 or 5 turnover game where it is obviously all him.

Sark is tied to Manning.  If he fails or transfers it is a huge marketing(recruiting) debacle for Sark.

beyond that, lots of people here have written him off, there’s an entire thread about how arch should be benched with plenty of support for the idea. so uh, you’re wrong.
