Seems like the only logical thing to do is make sure all of your relatives are dead and out of the hive.  Then bang away.

which reminds me- Carol doesn’t have any family they could send to attempt to pacify her like the others have?  Loses her wife and the next best thing is a book cover lookalike?  Was that explained away and I missed it?

That’s why she’s the main problem for the Pluribus - she has nobody left that she cares about. No friends, no family (apparently), nothing. The other immune aren’t in the same position (at least that we’ve seen so far).

I predict she will be going to Paraguay to visit the cranky man who insulted her.

Definitely.  He gave off big Carol energy over the phone.

I hope they move the plot forward more this week, at least around the motivations of the hive and what their end goals and real power are. They say they won't kill anything, and she can kill 11 million in one pop just by getting mad? And they'll give her anything she wants at any time? If that's me and all my family and friends are gone, just move me to my own island, keep the fridge and pantry stocked, let me order all the books and movies I want and I'm set. They can do all the world domination they want and I wouldn't get in the way. I'm just confused as to what the end game could be.

They told Carol that they were working hard to figure out how to turn her, and that it was basically a biological necessity for them to do so, so just ignoring everything is not going to work if she wants to remain human

Have they explained the “Your life is your own, you have free will” bullshit that obviously isn’t true? I remember her asking but I don’t think she got an answer.

Anyone else’s stream of tonights’s episode lagging?

Can’t tell if it’s just my shitty Google Nest WiFi or something else.

Football game on Amazon is working fine so I’m assuming it’s an Apple app issue more than my bad WiFi.

And there it is.

Spoiler

The others can’t lie. Gilligan is a genius, but deception is humanity’s greatest strength to defeat the aliens is not entirely original. It’s basically the premise of 3 Body Problem.

I’m still all the way in, and I’m excited to see VG’s vision.

We know Paraguayan guy is more hardcore than Carol. He's probably not going to be banging body snatchers on Air Force One.

But Carol is still very hardcore.  I would not want to go up against her.

Just in terms of interacting. He's refusing anything and everything. Although I found it odd he decided to answer the phone that many times. I guess just in case.

To Carol's credit, she knows she needs to solve and use them in order to destroy them.

He obviously realized that Carol was like him since she cussed him out.

It just occurred to me. What happened to all the family pets?

They let all animals go.  There was a joke about there being problems at the zoo or something with the lions and tigers.

That was like the third call. And after he told her to fuck off. Anyway, doesn't matter. Just struck me as odd given he seems to be refusing interactions entirely.

As for animals, I'm guessing they did something "efficient" after realizing wild animals would maul them.

Maybe relocate them all to a specific safe area or something.

The lions and tigers let out of the zoo ate some and the rest probably starved to death

It’s been 7 days

It's been one week since we let 'em free
Cocked our head to the side and said, "go in peace"
Five days since the slaughter began
Now we're saying "please stop the killing spree"
Three days since Carol made it go boom
We realized it's all our fault, but couldn't tell you
Yesterday, you wouldn't forgive us
And it'll still be never 'til you say I'm sorry

What was his deal with the radio.  We spent far too long on it for it not to matter. I was only half paying attention so maybe I missed something.

Just trying every frequency to find someone. Maybe less about the ham radio and more to illustrate his character as methodical, patient, refusing to communicate with them.

Finally she shows some human curiosity and starts asking some questions.

If she’s successful in reversing the joining then she is a mass murderer and those people will never come back.

Why do they drive old cars? There’s no practical reason for it that I can think of.

Why did it take a couple of days for the hive to find out about the Paraguayan guy? My first thought was maybe he was a hermit and never interacted with anyone. So maybe no one knew he was alive. But now we see that he manages these storage units.

We think he manages these storage units.  He could have been living in one, shit happens, he's hidden, the management becomes one with the hive, and there's no reason for anybody to be at any of those units anymore, so they completely miss him.

Just spitballin'

Yeah, maybe. I was just thinking how hard it would be to hide for a few days with absolutely no one in the world seeing you or even knowing you were missing. Especially in a city. Maybe they thought he was one of the dead.

Oviedo appears to be very offline. His contact with the outside world appears limited to a radio and a land line. He also might not interact frequently with other people. It’s possible the hive mind didn’t know enough about it him to figure out where he was for a day +.
