UltraDisc One Step vinyls of a couple of her favorite albums which shall go unnamed lest this thread breakdown into an insufferable mess like most of the threads in the Music forum.

If anything is more insufferable than the CR, it’s music snobs/nerds. And vegans.

I love you fuckers for the entertainment you bring me

All I have to do tomorrow is get drunk with friends and watch movies and then take an edible and go see Avatar 3 on Thursday

And the update is that I received the USPS notification that the package was delivered at 11:36AM today. I went to the mailbox (cluster boxes in our 'hood) and there was no key for the parcel box which the package would have to be placed in (at least I would hope they wouldn't try to bend 3 Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab LPs and squeeze into a a standard mail slot).

So I immediately went to the USPS website & submitted the tracking # and details only to be bounced to the page saying "our records show your item was scanned. Check with a household member & wait 24 hours to submit a claim." So I'm stuck hoping that they put the key for the parcel box in someone else's mailbox and that they'll do the right thing and drop it on our doorstep.

On the bright side, MoFi did insure it so I'll eventually get the albums or money back.

That’s a fine story, but she still doesn’t have a birthday present you insensitive prick.

Annoying for sure, but….

Our street’s community mail box has been broken since early February, so we have had to make the 11 mile round trip to the USPS substation once a week.
After being informed several times over the past 6 months that a new box was on back order, they told us 2 weeks ago it was finally in, but they were waiting now for someone to install it.
Over the past year we know for a fact that at least a couple of important business mailings failed to be sorted out from the junk mail and saved for pickup.

Our anxiety was exacerbated since Thanksgiving because we had been advised by an estate executor in Arkansas that she would be mailing a half million dollar estate distribution check to us.

Thankfully it arrived safely to our door via registered mail last week.

Not much to report in the GFY household other than elderly mom that we care for with her recently broken hip is, more or less, not causing chaos this week. Other than the doctor follow-up appointment today which she will doubtlessly whine and wiggle her way out of -- cross post to a new "getting old sucks, but caring for olds can suck worse" thread. But still overall, #winning.

So a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Kickass Kwanzaa, Bitchin' Bodhi Day and a Yolo Yule to all y'all ne'er-do-wells and freaks.

UPDATE: package has been found! I happened to get to the mailbox while the postal lady was there putting in today's mail. I explained the situation, she explained she was out yesterday & someone else was covering her route. She started looking in the parcel boxes and found it in the 2nd one she tried. It was good to give her credit & appreciation for saving the day during a time of year when they're under constant stress and harassment.

But I am still an insensitive prick because I wrapped them all up & put under the tree so she's gonna have to wait 2 more days.

Conservative Christian in-laws arrive tomorrow for three days.  Almost finished hiding all the liquor and anything drinking related.

Wife and I are in our mid 50's.

I have long advocated for ripping that band-aid off, but my wife would bear the brunt of the backlash, so I keep up the charade for her.  They are in their early 80's so their last trip to our house can't be that far down the road.

Be patient and treat them with love. When they’re on their deathbed softly tell them what you did to their daughter.

I’m wrapping presents, a task I despise because I am not very good at it. @BearSchlong was it you who inherited an industrial-sized roll of wrapping paper from your father?
Jt from shaggy always wrapped his presents so well that the patterns matched. I was impressed.

I ran into that a bit when I first was dating my now-wife.  I just ordered whatever I wanted at dinner and showed up to family functions with beer and wine.  She and her siblings soon followed suit, and the in-laws got used to it.

If you use the pink butcher paper you use to wrap brisket, there is no pattern to match.

I’m not wasting the good brisket paper on people as inconsequential as family.
