One more day of radiation to wrap up 15 total sessions. The lump is just goo with a gumball sized mass left.

Surgery scheduled for 12/3.

I have a dinner date with 3 putt tonight.

3 putt is a gentleman. I’m positive he won’t make jokes when he sees your shrunken balls.

Looks more like the Total Recall bar.  See a chick with three tits?  Wait....does 3 putt have three tits?  That would make sense.

Last week of chemo for me starts today! Did a little early celebrating this past weekend with some friends in Kentucky - the Texas offense was more nauseating than any part of this medical journey.

"Texas football: worse than cancer."

Maybe not the most inspiring slogan, but it seems accurate.

Note to self: when having a pleasant conversation with people you just met, and you tell then you lost 40 pounds of beer gut, and they say: "How did you do that?", just say:

"I stopped drinking so much beer."

Do not say:

"Cancer!"

That is like ripping onion and sausage farts inside a minibus. They didn't have time to roll down their psychic windows.

Yeah I lost about 60 pounds when they took out a bunch of my guts. People I haven't seen in awhile are like "wow, you've lost a lot of weight! What's your secret?" Telling them the key to weight loss is to have half your stomach and 2/3 of your esophagus removed is a little rough. But hey, it works!

I havent lost any weight at all. They gave me super steroids during chemo which made me ravenous.

Same…we got a raw deal!

I was waking up at 5 to eat 3-egg steak breakfasts during the steroid months. Had a pony keg of water weight in legs and balzac. Since stabilized down at 190, weigh-in after weigh-in.

Until they run some more science fair experiments on me.

Diving in on this...

Diagnosed with prostate cancer in May.  Turned 56 last week.  Recommendation is to let it ride a bit based on levels, but something about cancer in my body, that ain't happening.  Dad and grandmother (his mom) both gone at 62 from cancer.  Aunt (his sister) at 48.  Three of his four brothers have had some form but fortunately are all doing well.

So, working on getting surgery scheduled to remove the prostate after the first of the year, and planning one last trip with the wife to enjoy "relations" before they potentially head south for the rest of our years together.

Positive as others have noted, eating better, exercising, and have drop 20 ponds in the last several months.  Doctor keeps talking about the great shape I'm in.  Yeah, but then there's that little thing growing inside...

This board is filled with guys who will step in to help the misses out.  One of the things that makes this board so great.

I respect your decision, but all cancer flavors are not the same.   Every guy on this board will probably have prostate cancer in their bodies in their 60s or 70s, and will die before it does anything.      Again, all due respect, but maybe you should get a second opinion or at least go to someplace like MDA and see your options before you decide on the most invasive procedure with the highest percentage significant side effects.

Either way, you have this.   But again, if you are going to have surgery, make sure you have the best goddamn surgeon in the country who’s done 1000 of these procedures, and not just the guy or gal at your local hospital they assigned you to.    I admit that me sharing this is largely due to the fact that my local hospital surgeon wanted to get me like a fish to cure my liver cancer when it turned out I did not have liver cancer.

The best cancer care I ever received was none at all.
