From their 35 youβd throw once THEN run twice in a row in an effort to score a TD with two time outs? Texas has a young Superman at qb, not Vince young with his feet but capable of moving the pocket and pushing the arky defense to make a play. I feel like with 3 losses and basically all the sports world talking shit itβs a good moment to remind people Texas is still Texas. Instead we were nervous Arkansas might get the ball back and score. Mack brown played not to lose instead of playing to win plenty of times and it cost Texas several big 12 title appearances and national championship games. To each their own I reckon.

I've watched a lot of things come and go even in my relatively brief time on earth and they mostly go. For example the Sinclair method with naltrexone. The AA model sticks around for a reason. Because the "model" I describe is far more common than anything else. https://nida.nih.gov/about-nida/noras-blog/2025/03/advancing-reduction-drug-use-endpoint-in-addiction-treatment-trials Nora Volkow is the top scientist in the field. Here she acknowledges that moderation in substance abuse might be nice and explores possible reasons for the common catastrophic relapse. And calls for further study. And, if it's so easy for a guy like Sark to just moderate his drinking, well then why are we even speculating that he's off the wagon? And it has been made clear to me that people don't understand what I mean by Sark's problems. I don't mean divorce, baby-mama-drama and an underachieving football team. I mean drunken public appearances, DUIs, face-down-in-the-gutter type shit. Police involvement. That would be pretty independently verifiable and obvious. I don't claim and can't claim all the medical answers, but I have extensive personal experience dealing with addicts and addiction and follow the science out of personal interest.

Could this be the craziest coaching carousel of all time?
berlinerbaer replied to GreenspointTexas's topic in Football
Donβt know who I want at Cal, but Lupoi hasnβt impressed me. Bama and Oregon have him on as an ace recruiter, less as a manager or Xs and Os guy (Saban and Lanning or others seem to have handled that). Cal needs a HC that can do 2 out of 3 by themselves. I want an OC that has succeeded under a defensive minded HC or vise versa. -

Well it gets us $8M further from the tax threshold this year and next. Semien was moving in the wrong direction and maybe Nimmo has another 120, 130 OPS+ season in him or two. Sure it could fuck us if he falls off a cliff and then we're stuck with a couple bad years - but if you think you're already stuck with bad Semien years then why not roll the dice? I like the move. Hopefully it doesn't blow up in our face.

America's Foreign Policy & Other Shit Going On Around the World thread

Man, who would have guessed that giving the world's richest people direct and unfettered access to--and influence over--the highest offices in the land would yield negative results for the rest of us? -
Mister Sam Batch 4 is a very limited-release, high-proof (131.08 proof) blended whiskey created by Sazerac as a tribute to Samuel Bronfman. This rare bottling is known for its rich and complex flavor profile, which includes notes of cigar box, toffee, dried fruits, spices, and oak, with a full-bodied and oily texture. It was released in limited quantities in 2025. Currently goes for about $1000 on secondary. Buddy got lucky and won this one in a fireball for $100. Cracked it yesterday. It's delicious and those notes listed above were pretty spot on.

It's a reasonable excuse. I don't think anyone has implied they were skirting the rules on purpose. They obviously started the race in compliance. It's F1: everyone is designing their cars right up to the limits; they just miscalculated the wear. But why why even put yourself in a position where it might be close at the end? Every other team seemingly was able to figure it out, none of whom have nearly as much to lose as them.
