  1. Past hour
  2. You are being a bit harsh with your description of John McClain.
  3. Yes I was able to follow that part. What is "fake flooding" supposed to be, in upside down world? Fake water? Fake deaths?
  4. Thinking back to the idea that ojo signed before July, possibly giving tech an advantage of accounting- I wonder if other prospects have done the same but are still dragging out their public announcements for the social media engagements or because the school has asked for coordination at strategic times. and if such things could be kept secret for very long.
  5. Damn that would be hilarious. I know people who were gleefully dumping all kinds of money into Tesla earlier than year. They’ll take a bath on it. (These are not savvy market investors — they’re MAGA dipshits and I’m here for it, even though some of them are friends.)
  6. This video is almost 38 minutes long, so you might skim through it. But this is just insane -- sorry it's from FB. https://www.facebook.com/LANDbyLINDSEY/videos/1082855037113071/
  7. I’m sure it won’t make a difference but I hope this changes how people react to officials putting weather related precautions in place, especially in central Texas. Schools superintendents get bitched out every time they cancel school and it doesn’t turn out to be a massive weather event.
  8. When she says fake, she means engineered, right? Or does she think these things literally did not happen?
  9. I think you’re right.
  10. @Homesickhorn
  11. If anyone has any advice or resources about properly talking about this kind of stuff with children, I’m all ears. I don’t really have the most experience talking to my children about loss outside of great grandparents … which is weirdly easier because they have lived a full life. But idk how I’m going to tell my girls that Jane has died and about the girls at camp mystic. They literally just had the best experience of their little lives at camp and I’m going to burst that bubble a week later. its minor compared to what other are going through. And I know we’re still in it right now / don’t have answers, But I’m trying to start to think about how I’m going to break this to my girls.
  12. "picture from yesterday"...Jesus Christ. Fucking horrific.
  13. In response to the deadly flooding in Texas
  14. That lap was a thing of beauty. Just so damned smooth. It looked like he was on a rail. Really pretty.
  15. I don’t think Mystic will ever reopen.
  16. Tucher Dunkles Hefe Weizen was one of my original gateway craft beers
  17. I cannot either. When I was a camper for 8 years at Waldemar (I went first session so all of June) and we rarely had rain. So to see all this devastation and destruction is difficult to comprehend. I cannot fathom how the residents feel. I was just a summer camper and one time counselor. There for a couple of weeks and then gone. All of their stuff is gone. this ain’t a joke cuz I see what the rebuilding efforts in North Carolina. They need to get some Amish in Kerrville once it’s safe to start the demolition process, I cannot wrap my head around this loss of life along with the utter decimation of both Hunt and Kerrville and other places we aren’t posting about much or focusing on. Damn. so our bitch ass lakes better show some appreciation and get their asses full.
  18. So you are saying Dubai and Labubu's are the Starbucks of chocolate? Noted.
  19. A huge advantage if you are a privately held company with a small board or a board that is all in agreement. Example, the CEO of Nike is a TCU alum, he has been a higher up for years, has a great relationship with Phil, and Elliott has been on TCU's board of trustees and a big donor for the school. He and his wife recently funded a a new dorm I believe in the Greek area of campus. I am pretty sure that while Elliott will do whatever he can to help TCU athletics, but their board and shareholders wouldn't be happy if he used Nike as a tool to fund the Frog's NIL program.
  20. I believe one factor for suburban kids going to Ole Miss, LSU, Bama, etc is because those schools are offering really good academic scholarships to get them. Especially the ones who fall out of the top 6%
  21. fyi ...
  22. Yes, my daughter is pretty upset that her mystic term will likely be cancelled. But we have not talked yet about the next few weeks and friends that won’t return to school. Heartbreaking for so many.
  23. That's the intent of the House settlement. It's unclear how it will be enforced. We know some of the mechanisms. We do not know how effective they will be. We can also surmise it will be tested by programs seeking a competitive advantage. In addition the House settlement has multiple legal challenges it will have to face. Also, there are other legal challenges to the NCAA that were not covered by the House settlement. The Texas One Fund has said they will retain independence from the athletic department, even though donations go towards Longhorn Foundation points. They have now pivoted to creating partnerships with local businesses for NIL opportunities to be given to Texas student athletes, rather than asking for charitable work. I don't have a clue how any of that works, but that's what they've said.
  24. Benching or cutting any one of those would indeed be some dumbass shit.
