I don't know about your work there JD, these days I feel like I have to apologize for being white a lot more given the damage you chucklefucks are doing.

Making a batch of my dad’s BBQ basting sauce. I remember him making/using it my entire lifetime, and I’m on Medicare. Not sure of its origins - could be his Memphis roots or his east Texas adulthood. And, yes, GD, it’s got liquid smoke!

Also, SDSU is undefeated in their gym this year. If we can get out of there with a W and no new injuries, that's all I'm asking for.

Apparently I'm the only white millennial male on this website so I guess I'll give a bit of my perspective. My experience is in commercial construction in a non-racially diverse area. The company I worked for was all genx upper leadership, vast majority millennial labor (both white and blue collar), and a handful of boomer mercs doing sales/bus development while waiting for retirement. Sidenote, I never saw a non-boomer in any sales or business development role, kind of odd. As a regional subcontractor/supplier I was able to work closely with companies from under 10 employees to those with a national/global presence. We were always looking for people on the blue collar side so basically if you could pass the welding test or whatever equivalent you were hired. There didn't appear to be any favoritism or discrimination with women. White collar is a bit different. My observation throughout the industry was certainly that being a woman added a bonus positive quality to career progression. This doesn't mean incompetent women were being hired or promoted, just that unspoken value discussed all over this thread of "all things being equal, we'll go with the woman". This never made me angry or anything, I just looked at it similar to how fat and ugly people are disadvantaged, or in my case how a "shy" quiet guy who is very uncomfortable with small talk will top out at a level before someone comfortable with talking to clients. Construction is still male dominated and I didn't mind the efforts equalize things. That's all, merry Christmas.

Elko should hop on a flight to Ann Arbor and get out of town before the bottom falls out. Next year’s schedule isn’t gonna be a cakewalk like this year’s and they’re losing a lot off of this year’s team.

TIL there’s something called fraud tourism. Congrats, Minnesota.

This is a true and accurate accounting of the amount of fraud that’s been proven in court. The problem is that it’s not believable as even a close estimate of the actual scale, and that the time has come and gone to gather an accurate estimation. If I were describing this in an Eastern European country for a transparency NGO, I’d write: ”Corruption in the public health and welfare services in Svaty Pavel is endemic. Prosecuted cases have tallied at least $217 million over six years although there is little doubt that the accurate figure is many times that number. Due to political and social sensitivities, local officials failed to investigate credible claims for several years while national counter-corruption officials pursued only the most egregious and probable cases due to the tremendous resources required. The fraud has become a national scandal, with the populist leader seeking to exploit it for political gain. His opponents are scrambling to mount an effective response due to the gross incompetency and oversight demonstrated by the opposition party in providing oversight of state funds. A full accounting of misspent funds is likely impossible based on the scale and duration of the fraudulent activity.” The information useful. But no serious person can argue, for instance, that a successful prosecuted RICO cases represent close to a full accounting of economic losses due to mafia activity over the years. -
