  1. Past hour
  2. Friend of mine had a game shop in Dobie for a bit, later moved up toward Koenig. Blanking on the name but doesn't matter now because he sold it then it closed. We used to have painting parties in the Dobie store, knock out a few minis and get jacked up on giant Taco Bell drinks.
  3. Just like this! This is what the engraving will look like.
  4. I was taking your comment about us being in the climax differently.
  5. In one sense, it's actually a win/win that Hamas is abroad and targeted because if Israel was actually only laser focused on getting their revenge and killing Hamas brass, Gaza civilians would be risk free from being collateral damage. But obviously Israel wants all of Hamas, down to the janitor, wiped off earth and they want the territory. And speaking of the IDF and their remarkable ability to execute anywhere on earth, at this point no Hamas senior leader can feel comfortable or safe, right? The pager thing was a masterclass, surgical hits in the hearts of MAJOR cities like Tehran and Doha, etc. The only thing I think giving an ounce of security is that Israel bombing Istanbul or Ankara would be very risky as Turkey is no slouch.
  6. That’s a very interesting comparison. My cousin lives in Paris and I’m not going to downplay Charlie Hebdo, but my guess is this has more impact. We’ll see.
  7. Very much like taking JFK in and working on him in Dallas for a bit before calling it.
  8. Yeah, don't watch the video but he was gone gone instantly - anyone talking about him being alive yesterday was just being optimistic and hoping.
  9. And many of those same college kids just wiped the floor with him.
  10. Not a tipping point or boiling point to be clear, but an acceleration.
  11. I won't lay all the blame on Skinner - Elliot shoulders a lot of blame for last year. - Disengaged Skinner - Constant position battles (setter, RS) with fan/program favorites seemingly getting the shaft for the transfer instead (Swindle/Carlson and Rutherford/Devin) - Players seemingly pulled on a whim, often to be replaced by someone who fucked up too or worse (random times JE would yank one of the middles for Bunton, or pulled Madi out of backrow without talking to her) - Freshmen not really getting any chance when Wenaas or Rutherford were not doing well That was a shit show of epic proportions, and you saw it when we kept losing all these 5-set matches over and over. The team didn't fight for each other, like this one does.
  12. These two being posted so close together is pretty comical
  13. But they take like 20 minutes to get the fucking app to work right.
  14. He would also “debate” college kids, which is pathetic. These kids are smart, but most lack real world context to be able to conduct meaningful debates. Just easy targets that his fans could relish in as he “owned liberal snowflakes”.
  15. I'm trying to keep this thread going where we get some actual SEC football discussion. There are some really interesting games this week as we get into conference play: Georgia at Tennessee - Georgia is a 3.5 point favorite on the road. They have a tendency to look like crap against garbage opponents and then show up when they need to, but does anyone really believe in Gunner Stockton, much less believe in him and Mike Bobo on the road? Georgia is really young this year. Still talented as hell, but young. Arkansas at Ole Miss - The hogs have demolished two bad teams and their QB can be a problem, but they are 7 point dogs at Ole Miss at night. Austin Simmons got injured last week against Kentucky but he's listed as probable. This seems like a game that Ole Miss has no business losing, but inexplicably finds a way to do so just to reaffirm their fans lot in life. Florida at LSU - LSU is a 7.5 favorite at night in Death Valley against a Florida team with its back against the wall. LSU somehow lost to them last year in the swamp. I think Nussmeyer is one of the most overrated players in the country, but LSU looks a ton better on defense. I gotta think LSU puts some more nails in Sunbelt Billy's coffin on Saturday. Vandy at South Carolina - I never thought I would be fired up to watch Vanderbilt play South Carolina, but here we are. This game has two of the most interesting and dynamic QBs in the conference. This is a sneaky huge game and should be a great environment at night in Columbia. A&M at Notre Dame - ND has had two weeks prepare and the rest of their schedule is mostly dogshit. So for playoff purposes they need a W badly against a team with a "name", as much as A&M qualifies as a name. A&M is notoriously horrible on the road. The Irish are 6.5 point favorites. I don't think ND is anything special, but I would be stunned if A&M beat them in South Bend at night. Wisconsin at Bama - I guess Bama got right last week, but they are laying 21 at home against Wisconsin in an early start. That seems like a ton of points for a team that got pasted by Florida State week 1. I still think Luke Fickell is a decent enough coach and they are running a new offense with Jeff Grimes (remember when Mack Brown desperately tried to make him the highest paid OL coach in the country and he told Mack, "hell no") as OC and have a bunch of transfers... so maybe they're improved? If this game is even competitive in the late third/early fourth quarter I can't even imagine the pucker factor for Kalen Deboer. OU at Temple - The Sooners should kill them, but that's a horrible sandwich game for them (between Michigan and Auburn) on the road with an early start on the east coast against a team with a really good coach. I'm not ballsy enough to pick Temple, but this one has a lot of potential for some early hilarity. That line went from OU - 26.5 to OU -21.5. That's huge movement without a significant injury. Just saying... The rest of the conference plays a bunch of tomato cans, but overall this is a pretty good slate. I was never that fired up to move to the SEC, but there are more interesting games this Saturday in this conference than there were in an entire season in the Big 12.
  16. Those always way quicker than I think they are. The neighbor kids haul ass on the nearby lakeside trail to me.
  17. Yeah. I don’t think that mentally tough/mentally weak is the correct lexicon any longer, but she definitely seems to be a person that needs breaks and cannot just grind away indefinitely at stressful tasks. Admittedly that’s based mostly on a couple minutes worth of interviews she has given on transferring, and on mental health, combined with her transfer from UK and then performance at Texas. So scant evidence for sure.
  18. No leftist I've ever known would own that shirt. Whatever he is, he's not going to be unidentified much longer.
  19. I'm less interested in this generation's perceived intolerance and more in what seems to be a generational embrace of "control and order" at an age range where typically the cohort is generally all about "freedom and fighting the man". The preceding generations have issued a blueprint that they start pretty "liberal" and they end pretty "conservative" as they age....hell the Baby Boomers were hippies and free love and all that back in the 60s. I gotta think the control they grew up with from devices monitoring them as they slept as babies, helicopter parent syndrome, where all their battles were fought for them, the control of phones and reduced ventures into the outside world, the control they themselves have to exhibit when they do go into the outside world because something (a phone) is watching them, recording them all the time and mistakes of my generation's youth stayed local while theirs can be put on display for all the world to see, etc all have some part to play in why "control" feels more comfortable to this age group. That embrace probably only deepens with the Alphas.
  20. Zero chance that Ballmer wasn’t fully aware of what was happening if not orchestrating it himself. Not the first time that a player got extra perks but this isn’t using the owner’s yacht for a week. the only question is whether the NBA will have the balls to do anything and can they get Ballmer to accept it. Most likely Ballmer needs to find a fall guy like his buddy, to reduce his personal penalty. I don’t think Ballmer will care if there is a money penalty. finally the funniest part is that this could have mostly been ignored if Kawhi had just been willing to perform the most basic work for the $48m. A few appearances and social media posts. Possibly as a little as one day of total work over a couple of years.
  21. Yeah I think most of us have made it clear that Hamas leaders (at least the ones directly involved with the Al-Qassam Brigades) are fair game, but we also understand that Israel is fully capable of targeted, surgical assassinations that don't involve dropping bombs on other countries. Qatar, like you said, has every right to be pissed off about it.
