  4. As bad as AD Mitchell's fumble into the end zone was, he poured gasoline on the fire by getting called for a hold on a what would have been a lead-taking score late in the game. Whoops. Hope it doesn't impact his playing time.
  5. I'm gonna try to go to the Texas State game Friday night.
  6. That hasn’t been getting called this year much, regardless of base.
  7. The transfers and wait for the bus and walking from the stop to the destination kill the thing. Yesterday, I had to drop a car off in West Campus and get home some other way, a distance of about 2 miles. I had three options: * Take CapMetro, about 40 minutes for a cost of $1.25 for me and about $6-$12 for the taxpayer. * Walk, also 40 minutes and free but a bit sweaty. * Uber, about 10 minutes for $6, which was a discount from their normal price of about $10. So I picked Uber and got matched with a Waymo. A robot drove me home in an electric Jaguar with nice leather seats and cold A/C. Cap Metro's revenue is $600 million a year and for that they provide 26 million rides per year. That is an average of $23 per ride. They do provide paratransit which is expensive and needed, but even if you back that out they spend a lot of money per rider. They employ 22 vice-presidents and have their own police department. As rideshare scales, particularly driverless rideshare, we should reconsider Cap Metro's operating model versus just supplementing rideshare for lower income folks. I think they should keep their paratransit services and their main corridor routes like the 801 and 803, but everything else should go rideshare.
  8. definitely my method of cope...
  9. White basketball player from Westlake? I like the new/novel strategy!
  10. hopefully he can heal up and continue to be one of the all time greats .... Jose Altuve is one of just 3 players in MLB history with 200+ home runs, 300+ stolen bases, 450+ doubles, and a .300+ batting average. The others are Willie Mays and Derek Jeter.
  11. In less crazy news the QAnon Shaman is suing trump for $40 Trillion claiming he is the rightful president of the us https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/qanon-shaman-trump-lawsuit-capitol-riots-b2835709.html
  12. I work in retirement plan consulting. We started a firm wide list of clients that are changing or outright stopping their employer match or profit sharing contributions. It is not a short list and we only started compiling it in August.

  14. "Some patients saw visible improvement in the intestinal lining" I hope my intestines are never visible, and that I definitely don't see them if they are.
  15. The plaque for the alternates is down in the ladies' room.
  16. I resemble that remark. 8-) I have stopped wearing my red Ohio State hat in public. Unless someone sees it from the front it just looks too much like one of those hats.

  19. “Testing Methods: The rest of the world, including Russia, primarily uses the Research Octane Number (RON), which is a single measure of a fuel's anti-knock properties. US Method: The United States uses the Anti-Knock Index (AKI)(or (R+M)/2), which is the average of the RON and the Motor Octane Number (MON). Conversion: Since MON is always lower than RON, the AKI is typically 4-6 points lower than the RON for the same fuel. How A-76 compares The number 76 in A-76 refers to the MON. Since A-76 is defined by a single number (MON), this is the equivalent of the other number found on Russian fuel pumps. Given that a fuel with a 92 RON in Russia is about an 88.5 AKI in the US, a Russian A-76 fuel would be roughly equivalent to the 85 AKI (or lower) range, fitting into the lowest tier of US gasoline grades.” Comment: if a 92 Russian RON classification is closer to 88.5 US AKI octane rating, then a 72 Russian RON classification would be closer to a 64 US octane rating. Yikes! That also means the Russian 95 gas is closer to 90 octane US.
  20. Some do. They're just fine with being shitty people.
  21. I never even followed the recruitment for that reason.
  22. I went twelve years after losing Maggie the Golden to cancer at age 7. Since 2013, we have had four dogs (King passed in 2020; he was an old fellow when we adopted him). Gracie will turn 13 in January (pictured plenty in previous posts) Maeby is 6 (as of March). Archie turns 2 in late November. I don't know how I went 12 years without a dog.
  23. That would have been so embarrassing if we didn't
  24. i really wish our DT posters had the capacity for honest self reflection
