Papers, please. Surly thread of deportation cruelty dominance
Willfully Horn replied to Captainant's topic in Daily Texan
The silence of Trump supporters is deafening. I imagine them either ignoring this ongoing event, or, worse, laughing at it. After all, this is what burning it all down looks like. -
Game Week Thread 2025 game week 3: UTEP @ Texas
Jimmy Two Times replied to Wulaw Horn's topic in Football
I recall consternation after we played Rice and Wyoming in 2023. I also remember us looking pretty good against a ranked Louisiana team in 2021. Plenty of other examples, but there's just not much you can take away, good or bad, in G5 games. The only things I'm focused on are whether Arch can start hitting short and intermediate passes and if the OL can stop committing false starts. -
LOL! I bet you also think the “DEI ban” means college professors can’t teach slavery as though it was bad. I’m sure that’ll be the next snowflake outburst. Fucking pathetic.

If you think that’s good, checkout this SECRants thread about him where he comes in and owns people hating on him. (Or atleast someone claiming to be him). https://www.secrant.com/rant/sec-football/williamtaylor21-finally-lands-his-dream-job/119806497/

Texas Football 2025 - Playing With Our Food
texastough replied to closetojumping's topic in Football
He wants to be able to do both/either. Sometimes we want to run clock. But as you mention, if the OL is not opening space for the run game, hit an explosive or two and space will open for the rb's -
Don't overlook Paredes. The team lost its pair of cojones when he went down.
-
I view that as a smart act of self-preservation for your sanity, man. Who would want to keep being reminded that they went to a quasi-juco that has never won anything?

FBG Recs (updated September 2025) Food/Restaurants: Prometheus Pizzas Trattoria is fabulous. If you want great food this is the spot, they have a pretty set/standard menu (salads, pizza, apps), then a set entrée list (Steak Frites, roman chicken, fish of some kind) then nightly specials. Love their pizzas (started off as a NY-style ish food truck thats still open.) Awesome neighborhood spot, with a serious wine program. Great desserts, favorite is the Tiramisu – if this makes sense it’s way more coffee forward than cream forward, which I love. They are wine/beer only and walk in only. Casa Chloe - Think higher-end Mexican food. Have either had almost everything on the menu or been at the table when someone ordered it. It's incredible. Do yourself a favor: Sit outside if the weather is even halfway decent. Favorites are the tortilla soup, smoked chicken nachos (brisket is ok, but their smoked chicken is incredible), tacos (shrimp) and flan. The churro looks fantastic but we never go away from the flan. Great cocktail menu. Bow did a great job with it. He's the owner, old guy who sits at the end of the bar in a cowboy hat - go say hi. They have a ton of rules around kids staying in seats and a bunch of other ones, its not particularly quiet inside but the food is worth it. Just check the rules ahead of time. Recommend getting a reservation ahead of time Eaker BBQ (off West Main): former Top 50 BBQ joint with a Korean flair on the sides- can't recommend them enough. Texas Trinity is awesome. House made sausage that’s on point. their saturday special is typically a pork belly burnt end made one of a few different ways (hot honey glazed, gochujang glazed, raspberry chipolte glazed, jalapeno, mango habanero, etc) - great BBQ and even better people that own it. https://www.instagram.com/eakerbarbecue/ Vaudeville - recommend the Mediterranean plate, chicken pesto pizza, charred octopus, lump crab curry (Fri night only), and braised beef over polenta is awesome. We order basically the same stuff every time – med plate app, chicken pesto pizza and split an entree. Their pot de crème is excellent, as is coconut rice pudding. Cool downstairs setting off Main, great date spot. Cookies are also great, but at $5+ per they are comically expensive and never worth it. Just order there, and then go drive over to Austin St Creamery. reservations recommended, i think they use RESY. Los Tios is a new Mexican food place where August Es used to be. Chain from Houston but it's easily the best Mexican food in town. Best fajitas in town, by a million miles. I know that it gets a bad rap from Houston people, but it really is awesome here in Fred. Not sure what’s different. Been a line a lot of the time there, but usually goes pretty quickly. Best “order ahead” / to go process of anywhere in town. Hondos - we usually order some combo of queso, grilled chicken sandwich, burgers, brisket mac & cheese are all great. strong margs, recommend the spicy one. They have live music basically every night and they finally added fans outside during COVID. warning: it's a self serve restaurant which bothers some folks but who cares. waiting list only, no reservations - you want to sit outside though. if you want good food and a little less fancy, with outdoor seating and a more new orleans style flair? Granite House. all of their apps are solid to very good. best chicken fried steak in Fredericksburg, get the fried egg on top. they have a seafood pasta special every night that's very good. i like their shrimp and grits. waiting list only, no reservations - you want to sit outside though. Ottos is pretty well regarded as the "best" restaurant in FBG but their menu just never has pulled me in. had good experiences, but just not a menu that's for me. highly recommend a reservation, they use Tock Want actual Mediterranean food? Cafe Dimona Alla Campagna on Main. Northern Italian steakhouse. wife's favorite app in town is their roasted garlic & ricotta meatballs. highly rec the bucatini and wild boar paparadelle. had almost all of their pizzas, but the margherita is the one we go back to. i would skip the steak, it's good but not $80 good. sides are ok - charred broccolini is excellent. their tiramisu is great, more creamy than coffee-forward. highly recommend a reservation, they use Tock. probably want to sit inside based on weather. if you want something to go, they have a side entrance off of Milam for to go orders - recent one from wife and I was to order the bucatini, add a couple of the ricotta meatballs + pizza and split it Woerner Warehouse: solid lunch spot, good sandwiches and salads - make sure you order the Key Lime Pie! Pecan Grove is the best burger for my money in FBG. it's north of town a bit and service is slow but you are drinking a beer in an...old pecan grove...and enjoying live music. much more of a locals spot than a tourist spot. wine/beer only. If you are out on 290, Leroy's Tex Mex BBQ is mexi-que. Really good across the board, and they have v solid but expensive breakfast tacos in the morning. Their queso is awesome, looks small but they go through the line fast. Great seating area outside. Attached to Jensche Farms next to Trade Days. Emi’s on Main – behind the Nimitz, where Tubby’s Ice House used to be. Super friendly fast casual Mexican food spot. Beer/wine only I believe. Really the most kid friendly food spot in town, you can order online for pickup too. Highly recommend if you have kids. Taqueria Machetes is downtown next to the Nimitz. Hildas is easier for breakfast tacos but Machetes is better and it isn't really close. They also have a salsa bar that's awesome. Airport Diner – located at the airport, going for a diner look/feel. Food is just ok, but it’s never been bad and it’s the best spot in town for a view – you literally look out on the landing strip for the FBG Airport. 40’s style diner, gets SUPER busy at times but you can walk around the landing strip and look at the planes while you wait for a seat or for food to come out. Lots of rocking chairs next door in the shade at the Hanger Hotel Coffee: Caliche is the best coffee in town and nothing else is close. can take your lady friend there for an excellent avocado toast - i usually get the green chile grits bowl if they have it on menu. next door to Alla Campagna. they roast their own beans and know their coffee shit. Sure Shot is an easy in/out place for coffee. Small menu, across the street from Whataburger. Still prefer Caliche straight up but it's faster and easier for locals on Saturday morning, lots of locals end up going here Revive Organics used to be called something else but it's a locally owned smoothie / juice / coffee / whatever else place that's just across the street from HEB. Not my jam but the wife loves it as does literally every single lady I know in town. Awesome owners, great service. I think you can order online/ahead also. Dessert: Austin Street Creamery – off of Austin Street, near Austin St and Crockett. The best ice cream in town by a wide margin. Hours are 3-8 or 3-9, it’s a walk up ice cream window attached to a boutique hotel / airBNB place (Whitetail Court) – tried almost all of their non chocolate offerings and every single one is awesome. Steve has spent a ton of hours on their recipes, they make them all in house/from scratch and you can absolutely tell. Pritzers Sweet Shop: if you are walking around downtown this is a little tiny bakery that has excellent baked good. croissants are great, large salted pretzel - go to are their cookies: cowboy, snickerdoodle or cinnamon toast marshmallow Piccolina: italian ice spot downtown (main & lincoln) that's fantastic - use local produce as much as possible. try all their flavors, but the lemon is the best seller for a reason. Beer/Wine/Bars: Witcher Craft Brewing Company – brewery out on 290, like 10 min out of Fredericksburg. Genuinely, the most kid friendly spot in the area. Best soft pretzel I’ve ever had. Bunch of different beer options, wife enjoys their seltzer as well. Chips and salsa is great, pimento cheese is great, sausages are awesome. They are adding some BBQ options currently. Have a big area inside to sit and watch games, or enjoy the AC if it’s hot outside. Back yard area is set up perfectly for younger / older kids to play https://witcherbrewingco.com/ Ferris & Fletch. Extremely kid friendly if you go to the back yard, and they have great wines made by even better people. Can’t go wrong with their product, highly recommend it. Next door is the new lobster roll place (they have been a food truck for probably a year looking for a B&M in town) Pontotac Winegarten - like 2 doors down from Hondos and on the same block as Hondos, Alla Campagna and Caliche. cool spot off of Main that you can sit, enjoy some wine or their house made sangria. order the picnic packet which is some homemade pimento cheese, bread, olives, nuts, chocolate chip cookie, berries and sausage if you want to sit for a minute. Take your lady to Six Twists. Champagne bar across the street from Bubble Bus. Champagne bar basically that does some awesome tastings. Very unique spot. The Restaurant at Albert Hotel. Extremely meh reviews for locals on the food, maybe its better now but I’ll never know. Great bar though, go with your lady friend, enjoy an app or just people watch at the bar there. Again, the restaurant is mediocre. Not a fan of their coffee shop on Main (The Pharmacy) – long lines, pastries look awesome but flavor doesn’t match the look. Coffee is mediocre. Go to Caliche or Sure Shot instead. Other Winery recs: Signor is a beautiful vineyard off of 290, they just opened a spot in town off of Crockett St like half a block off of Main, haven’t been there yet Lost Draw is the first place when you are leaving Johnson City heading to Fredericksburg, they used to be in town but moved out a few years ago, awesome area and kid friendly William Chris is probably the best wine in the area, again can be kid friendly and a bunch of different places to sit across their property. Located in Hye Honestly, we used to suggest to go to 290 spots, which you can but with Ponotoac, Signor, Ferris & Fletch all in town and a bunch of people having tasting rooms off of Main you can still taste a bunch without being out on 290 One line reviews for some other popular places as always, happy to make recs or answer any specific questions people may have. Needed to update the list due to places closing/new reviews.

I will get the other two graded this weekend and put up the season scoreboard. Been slammed at work, on the road and dealing with a miserable poison Ivy Situation. Prediction- Texas 59 UTEP 3. Prop bet- total yards from scrimage (so catching or running) from the WR position. 258

Seen/heard a few be very underwhelmed with them...particularly the offesives side. But it's fucking Georgia and Kirby, they'll be in the SEC title game most likely.

They're so covert that you can never get an accurate count. -
The next time I remember where someone went to school beyond breaktime banter will be the first. Customer. Employee. Whoever. Granted I work in a very results driven field. Perception related to school bias is negligible. They either produce or do not.

Black cubic zirconium trail?
-
Well based on the SEC standings they're 11th and Mississippi St(which has a MUCH better win) is quite a bit higher. TBF, Texas is like 14th, lol.

Oh and an update to the Hyundai plant story - people HAD their papers and were abducted nonetheless https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/sep/10/hyundai-factory-ice-raid-legal-visa The document says that immigration agents from Atlanta “determined that [redacted] entered into the United States in [redacted], with a valid B1/B2 visa and [redacted] was employed at HL-GA Battery Company LLC as a contractor from the South Korean company SFA. From statements made and queries in law enforcement databases, [redacted] has not violated his visa; however, the Atlanta Field Office Director has mandated [redacted] be presented as a Voluntary Departure. [Redacted] has accepted voluntary departure despite not violating his B1/B2 visa requirements.” -
I certainly hope so.

How they always, and forever, will let down their fans? Did Texas really have the 4th most watched game of the weekend? Playing San Jose St? Man they got some drawing power...
-
* “little bothered” should have an “r” after the “b”. El Grande Zendejas will never get “little brothered”… (My phone apparently was unfamiliar with the expression “little brothered” despite the number of times it has heard that term in the soccer podcasts that it has played for me over the years.)

Wild that the secret service let this happen, but I imagine they're just a bunch of incompetents by now.
