Holy shit you dipshits: 9-3 Texas is probably in the playoffs
Dahobbs replied to Wulaw Horn's topic in Football
So, as our last remaining shot (as slight as it is), it seems like we need to root for blowouts in the major championships. Ohio State blows out Indiana to make our close loss look even better. Indiana drops somewhere in the 5-8 range. Tech crushes BYU again. BYU drops behind us and Miami. That puts Miami and Notre Dame next to each other in the rankings, and then the committee flips them based upon the head-to-head. Georgia destroys Alabama in a game that is never really competitive. Alabama drops behind Miami and Notre Dame. That puts us, Alabama, and Notre Dame all together. Play against common opponents is a stated criterion of the committee. Alabama lost to OU (and Georgia in this scenario). Notre Dame lost to A&M. We beat both of those teams by double digits. The committee could use that to justify us jumping both of them. That would put Miami at 9, Texas at 10, Notre Dame/Alabama at 11 and 12. What happens in the ACC doesn't really matter. Maybe I guess Duke winning it could adversely affect Miami. Reality is we are out. But if you want to see a path, that appears to be it to me. -

All of that has actually killed pregame activity/tailgating along with building where tailgate historically was and then making revelxp the only on campus option even if you show up early yourself. Florida tailgating was far and away better than Texas when we traveled there. I would also say Michigan tailgating is far superior and I go to those games often. Having an empty wine garden on bevo blvd or a half empty UT club walled off tent is fucking lame. Texas Exes tailgate is also fucking terrible, and is for the social crowd not for the people who want to tailgate, watch football and talk about it crowd. Bevo BLVD itself is pretty cool, but it's also stale. The same rides, the same games, the same shit every time and the entertainment at LCL has gone WAY downhill from peak LSU etc. They are phoning it in and over commercializing it. It's part of what the majority of complaints are and why there was even a niche/gap in the market for our tailgate. A purists tailgate for everyone else. Hornballs does a good job for generic, but theirs was 115 a head. Had shittier food and is way further away.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - Full Roster Weaponization

Let's not compare Wingo and Worthy. No one wanted Worthy gone bc of his play. It was his social media BS and constant threat of transferring that had fans sour on him. Wingo is all potential and extremely inconsistent. He has dropped too many passes in crucial games in crucial moments. He is soft fighting DBs and rarely fights for the ball making contested catches. His route running is poor. He is fast, that is is elite trait. I'm not saying I want Wingo gone but I would not be happy if he's our WR1 going into next year. We need consistency and a guy that we can turn to when the game is on the line. AD Mitchell made game winning plays. Golden made game winning plays. If it's 4th and 15, how confident are you that Wingo makes the play? Given that next year is the year before we rebuild again in 2027 on the O-line, QB, and defense, we need guys at WR, RB, and TE that can help us win a title. -
The Dallas Stars 2025-2026 Season Thread: We can haz cup?
GoldAppleCorps replied to Longhorn_Fan68's topic in Other Sports
DeSmith stood on his head to equalize a middling effort against a middling team. No real tragic errors, but a continuous lack of precision in the defensive zone led to non-clearances. Prolonged defensive zone time meant less offensive zone time. Shesterkin likewise rescued the Rangers from another close loss. We have a playoff contending team on IR. -

I think the SEC would throw weight and bitch if they were gonna lose their 5th team. That's why I say that. But again, this is an insane hypothetical. So I dont think it's really worth discussing in depth. -

Why are you like this? Of course we are not in you are completely ignoring the automatic bids. Texas needed #12 with Bama and BYU ahead and even then it was unlikely. We are 13 this is the committee telling UT it is out for good. -

That would be great if the committee actually considered top 10 or top 25 wins at all. -
Inflation, by it's nature, is a rate. There is no inflation for "today". There always has to be a delta t. And, yes, prices are higher in blue states. That's because it's where people want to live. That's how the free market works: price is a reflection of the perceived worth amongst the consumers. I am paying considerably more to live in Washington than I did in Nebraska. For me politics is part of the value I get for living in Washington, but I recognize for others there are usually other factors like career opportunities, big city appeal, and natural beauty.

Hell, I’d have more respect for this committee if they came out and said Texas should get in but we don’t like them as a committee so boo hoo. At least they would be being more truthful. IN the midst of all this bullshit I just want to say HOOK EM HORNS AND PROUD OF THE MEN THAT PUT IT ON THE LINE FOR MY FAVORITE TEAM. GET BETTER AND MAKE A RUN NEXT YEAR. PROUD OF YALL -

Every QB has shortcomings and its up to the coaches to work around them. Just like basketball, some players are elite at attacking the rim. Like Steph, some people are pure shooters. You don't ask prime Westbrook to be Steph and vice versa. Arch has what it takes to win a title but you have to recognize his skillset and put him in a position to win. Sark, needing to save his job, put Arch in something the better utilized his skillset.........7 games into the season and cost us a playoff spot! Here is where he is failing to do that with the test of the team. Receiver- It was pretty obvious to me as soon as he stepped on Campus that Wingo was not him. Worthy had holes in his game but he played with fire and tenacity. So as soon as we stopped trying to make him a deep threat he blossomed in the short game, where we could get him the ball and let him work. Wingo doesn't, for his size and explosiveness, does not go up and get the ball in traffic, and on screens and sweeps the littlest contact with his feet and he goes down. Yet we keep trying to get him the football like this time will be different. Spread the ball around to whoever is winning. Also, we've got a lot of young talent on the bench. Give them a chance to see what they can do. RB- Same as receiver. Baxter is a one cut and north south guy, why are we running him in OZ? Also, we need to be getting the other backs some experience. We stumbled on Brooks and Wisner being good, maybe there is another "isn't supposed to be a starter" in the stable too. Never going to know if we don't get them touches. TE- Most athletic ones on the field period. I was tired of seeing Juan Davis out there just wasting a spot last year. Everyone knew he wasn't getting the ball and his blocking left a decent amount to be desired too. Oline- This staff has no identity that they are building to. Sark coaches like he thinks we are a downhill running team but then your last two LGs are 6'6 and 6'7? You are at a leverage disadvantage as soon as you step on the field. Go look at Michigan. Interior O-line are all roughly 6'4 and shorter. Have an identity and build to that identity. The last two years your O-line play has lost you every game but one. Address it!

To be a little fair to CP he played all 82 last season. And his injury history is real and he doesn't sit out just to sit out. Kawhi has never played 75 games in a season in his career. Going into this season he had played 157 games in the last four seasons. He's already missed half of the games this season. I get people don't like CP but Kawhi is a mega-bitch especially with the Aspiration scandal thrown on top.

Early winter think piece on the decline of doubles and triples…from Stark. This is paid story but I got around it with Reader. Amongst other things, he proposes limiting where the OFs can position themselves.

I want to start by saying I love watching these videos and the production value is top notch. The people in the Texas media department do a fantastic job. I use these clips to make my own edits when fucking around with offseason hype videos. But these mini-movies are starting to get a little stale IMO. The same dramatic movie score, the editing/cuts are way too manic, the overall structure is the same with every release. Would like to see them get a bit more creative. With the amount of filming access they have, there's plenty of room for improvement.

When you account for drops that led directly to punts there were a lot of potential yards (and points) lost on drives that ended in addition to the actual lost yards from those specific plays. Obviously impossible to say just how many though. That said, talk of letting Wingo walk is fucking stupid. I’m going to guess most of the same people saying that also wanted Worthy gone after his Sophomore year
