  2. PBS kids is the kinda one refuge of β€œif you need to pull the screen lever, at least it’s safe”. We really don’t iPad except on planes or long car trips, but we uninstalled YouTube - you get them set up with whatever innocuous thing and then 2 seconds later who knows. On PBS Kids you can at least buy 20 minutes without someone trying to sell your 2 year old corn syrup.
  3. Much of these arguments seem to be focused on how you can still see the classics like Mr Rogers, Sesame Street, etc online or on cable services. While true, you aren’t going to get as much new quality content going forward. Most if not all npr and pbs shows that become nationwide hits start with a tiny budget on a local station and are able to grow into what they become. That is where CPB money was focused. I can’t imagine how many of these shows try and fail for every one that becomes a nationwide program (and many of those succeed and are cherished at the local level). All that is gone now. Just like with the brain drain that is coming due to the harassment of university faculty and the bullshit going on with visas; these true damage of these cuts won’t be felt for a decade. Also, it is not true that β€œzero” kids (and adults) have access to these shows without OTA public media. It’s like last mile mail and package delivery. It is extremely difficult and the government is the most efficient of all the inefficient ways to accomplish it. Hell I get shit all the time from Amazon that starts out as an Amazon or UPS / FedEx on the app and winds up coming by USPS and I live smack in the middle of one of the biggest cities in the country
  4. The vast majority of "kids media" on YouTube is dreck compared to what PBS offers.
  5. Her attorney must have read The Art of the Deal.
  6. Victor Ike. 12:12 mark. His KR for TD was the first for Texas in forever...
  7. Oregon State plays at Texas Tech and then at Oregon in mid-September. It would be great if Murphy could guide them to a win in one of those games.
  8. For the other readers, β€œSG” means strokes gained and it describes where a player is gaining or losing strokes against a given benchmark. There are apps where you can compare your performance to various standards, tour pro/scratch/5 cap/10 cap etc. I have generally used 15 cap as that was my target but now that I’m passed that, may move to 10. The basic idea is that, say as a 15 cap standing on the tee of a 370 yard hole that my expected score is 5.1. I hit a drive 230 down the middle. Now that I’m in the fairway 140 out, my expected score is 4.6. I β€œgained” 0.5 strokes with that drive. The book β€œEvery Shot Counts” by Mark Broadie describes it in full detail. But you don’t need to specifically grasp the science, the apps will show you the data. The two I use are Arccos and Shot Pattern. No need for two but I’m a data nerd and each does something I like that the other doesn’t so [emoji2373]. Here are some screenshots of the type of thing you can get, some pics from Arccos of my last 20 rounds, and a summary pic from Shot Pattern of a recent round and a sample pic on SP where it lists the SG for each shot (Arccos doesn’t do single shot). )
  9. The other thing that could keep the economy from crashing and rates somewhat escalated is the irresponsible spending bill. It will just keep the party going for a few more years until the next election.
  10. Wasn't this around the time he made up a story that he saw someone at a golf course (CTJ?) and he and his cousin threatened to fight him?
  11. Something worth tracking this month is the audience that Ohio State is building for the Texas game with recruiting visits. They’re talking about over 100 2026 & 2027 recruits. We usually overlap in recruiting 5-10 elite guys.
  12. Razor strop anyone?
  13. Jones family will never get the benefit of the doubt with me. Of course the player is trying to maximize his salary and this will be his biggest chance to do so. If you are a middling team (and that’s being generous) and you have positioned yourself roster- and capwise such that you can’t sign your best player (a top player in the league) and field a competitive team around him, you deserve all the badness that comes your way. I hope Parsons sits or gets his trade. Fuck this team

  15. We did win a world series with Sborz and LeClerc. Definitely felt like we were playing with fire that entire run but that turned out ok.
  16. Yeah I saw all that. Still don't make no sense and wore me out. So much so that I took a break.
  17. no dickin' around in that league!

    Flaco Gone.

    This sucks. RIP legend.
  19. The numbers come with a +/- 100K jobs deviation when issued is what I heard yesterday. Which I did not know as I am not that far into the weeds on the numbers. What's scary firing people for not making things flowery and rosy, even if they are not. So what way is that gonna skew the numbers? Or will it just be, "only upwards revisions from here on out" or... You're fired? The Fed can't fix bad policy that creates both inflation and a drag on the economy with rate moves. It simply can't. I still would not be holding my breath thinking we are gonna be getting a full point reduction in mortgage rates any time soon. Only an economic meltdown will bring that. I doubt you will even see a point before February unless the Fed decides it loves accelerating inflation. Just as I predicted last Fall, Trump's policies are inflationary for pricing, and produce a drag on the economies of both buyer and seller nations. The lucky thing is the AI surge is masking part of the drag. And massive pre-ordering has masked the tariff tax inflation. But the math will be very, very clear over time. We are doing some stupid economic shit if we want a booming economy and low interest rates. There was a path to that, and it got obliterated. The "date the rate, buy the house" mantra has ultimately been a tough row to hoe. One or two year rate buy downs are going to start biting people in the ass. They will not be able to refi at the rate they "were sure was around the corner." So it's either dump the house at a loss, or pony up that extra 1-2% that evaporated with the buydown expiration. It was logical to hope for lower rates, as hope is always optimistic. But when you add a 15% average tax on imported consumables, that will cause inflation and keep rates high. History says housing appreciates over time, so you should be able to make up that point and a half in appreciation if you can handle the monthly payment. When I think about folks that got loans with expiring rate buy downs combined with what may be endless insurance rate increases? You start moving towards folks being forced to walk away. On the bright side, the RE downturn is going to continue to flush out a lot of marginal players in the market, from the lending and agent side. When you add a 40% increase lumber in a single year into the mix? Lumber futures $696.50 Friday, the day after Trump crushed Biden in the debate June 28th 2024, that number was $481. So very inflationary correct? Homeowners insurance rising rapidly, also very inflationary, correct? This thread is not going to have a rosy outlook until perhaps Fall of 2026, so hunker down if RE is how you make your living. The blame the Fed, blame the jobs numbers, blame somebody, anybody, other than who is responsible, is going to become a very popular mantra as Trump's policies come to fruition. 696.50
