  1. Past hour
  2. I don't go to Chilis The past 10 days have been great from a food perspective. Multiple legit taquerias, multiple deep dish pizza joints, a mom/pop diner that was outfuckingstanding, and a little Italian place 2 times. Had Asian food yesterday and it was great too. Yeah, the hotel ain't my choice, and it positively has to be the dumpiest Marriott in which I've ever stayed. Oh well. Will be back in Texas on Friday.
  3. Frank Wilson would be an incredible hire. There are potentially some questions about just how great he is at actually developing RBs but who gives a fuck? Go hire the best personal trainer for the position you can find and give them a non recruiting role on the coaching staff if you feel the need. What Wilson brings in terms of player morale / vibes, recruiting and even to an extent scheme is far beyond what you can get from all but maybe 3-4 other RB coaches out there. I'm not saying the Florida guy would be a bad hire but everything possible should be done to land Wilson first. One thing to keep in mind is that we will have that OC tag available if we fire Flood. Mostly bringing it up because people were asking why the hell would someone like Searels who is already at a great place like Georgia come here. He is making a little under 800K. We could easily justify doubling that if he is wearing the OC tag like Flood currently does. Not even saying that is who we would target in replacement or that we should but just keep in mind our poaching a potential replacement for Flood is made way easier by the fact we have the OC title and the associated huge pay bump to throw at guys even if they can't run an offense.
  4. This one sucks. We really like going there, but I figured they were struggling.
  5. I feel primary challengers are good in normal times and in states that are not like Texas. Talarico gains nothing by having to make his case against Congresswoman Crockett.
  6. Great points and totally valid about cutting research. However, the Time of London has one of, and possibly the most highly regarded metric for world university rankings in the world. For their 2026 rankings, the US, as usual, has 7 of the top 10 universities in the world, and 13 of the top 20, as well as over 50% of the top 100. That is a fact. My point is that we always complain and think everything is at its most terrible. Do we have a lot of dumb, anti-education morons in this country? Hell yes. Do we have a crazy weird world of college sports? For sure. Do we have the most and best universities in the world. Also true.
  7. Interesting. I think he was pretty popular among the players the first time around.
  8. My uncle had an 8 track in his Ranchero, so I got plenty of time on those as a yute. My Grandma also had one of those console monstrosities with TV, record player and an 8 track, though the 8 track didn't get much use there.
  9. https://www.army.mil/usawhc New US Army Command. Western Hemisphere Command. NorthCom and SouthCom under 1 umbrella.
  10. I don't have the same kind of vitriol for movie (or TV) adaptations that don't adhere directly to the book, because the medium is totally different Same for video games. I like 1-to-1 adaptations if done really well (Fallout, LOTR, GOT before they ran out of material), I don't mind changes if they have to be done to make it more adaptable (Foundation is a good one, but also The Expanse, as they combined a bunch of characters into one). Some other really good adaptations are The Hunger Games movies (except the most recent one, it sucked), The Martian. Can't wait to see Project Hail Mary. But I hate when they just completely ruin the source material (World War Z, The Dark Tower movie) or just do a crappy job (the later HP movies skipped a lot of the meat or added in fluff that didn't exist, the unfinished Percy Jackson movies sucked, they never bothered to finish the Narnia movies) Some of them are getting new versions, so that's nice - the Percy Jackson tv series that is now in season 2 and the upcoming Harry Potter HBO series. Dark Tower needs to be less Mike Flanagan talking about it and more Mike Flanagan doing it. The BBC/HBO version of The Golden Compass was pretty good. The Zelda movie, God of War TV show, Horizon TV show - we will see.
  11. I promise I'm not going to argue with you here because this is the football board, but your issue is that your analysis of this situation starts and ends with "My daughter makes a lot of money so PE is good". Superficial analysis is beneath you. If you want to continue this discussion, let's do it some place other than the football board.
  12. Heads up folks - next week I plan on starting the 2026 Celeb death pool thread. So put on your thinking caps, do your research to see who is still alive and check wiki and other sources to see if they are really a celebrity, then narrow it down to 10 picks
  13. Thankfully, 8-tracks were just a bit before my time. I never had one of these. I did, however, acquire a few 8-track tapes at a neighbor's garage sale. Led Zeppelin 1 and IV and Iron Butterfly In A Gadda Da Vida, baby. The only place I could play them was in our 73 Fleetwood.
  14. It's true. First time aggy has achieved a winning record in consecutive years in conference since 1999-2000.
  15. Do you ever get tired of being the biggest pussy alive??
  16. Does no baseball in 2027 count as a contract year?
  17. Yeah, I'm not optimistic about 2027.
  18. Well, I always believe that you are entitled to your opinions, and this a great place to share them. I enjoy and appreciate your posts, and I am glad that you are here.
  19. Thread is invalid without 8-track. Paul McCartney - Ram.
  20. Yes, the US academic and scientific establishment absolutely dominated the world in research during the latter half of the 20th century and the early decades of the current one. For that we can thank Vannevar Bush and other visionaries who, after World War II, realized that the funding basic research, largely at universities, was essential to being an economic and military superpower in the modern era. No one is disputing that the United States dominated Nobel Prizes. But that is fading into the past. Nobel Prizes are often awarded for work done 5, 10, or even 20 years earlier. What people are concerned about is the future of academic research. Federal funding for this is being gutted on one end, and on the other universities are turning to private equity to run what is effectively a pro sports franchise. So yes, the US has done awesome in Nobel Prizes during the last century. But nothing lasts, friend. And the trends right now are pretty shitty.
  21. LMAO you got sucked into the portal speculation thread that turned pretty gay last night (yeah, I read all of it)
