Then she went on Twitter and seemed to blame some combination of a heavy workload and fear of being the sole vote against, which is not an excuse I have ever seen before from a council member for a vote they regret. -

Somebody has to harvest those grapes, butcher the chickens, and build shit now that ICE Barbie is running the ebil brown criminals out of our sacred envy-of-the-world country.

I have literally never downplayed the shittiness of Garza and personally attempted to recruit* both primary and general election challengers So… no. That said, it is a fact that Garza’s shittiness is directly provided as a justification both here, in real life, and sometimes officers themselves and their union for why the police product we get from APD is so mediocre. What part of Austin do you live in? *as far as I can tell nobody good wants the job 🤷 -
Why is the younger generation so intolerant?
Horn of Gabriel replied to hornian's topic in Daily Texan
At some point as a society we went from: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." To: "When you say something I disagree with, you are the embodiment of evil and must be silenced." Whenever I walked through the West Mall, I would laugh at the chuckleheads shouting from atop their milk crates. I even remember going to see a few speakers on campus who had very different views than I did and thinking "well, that guy is an asshole." But it would have been antithetical to me to want to tar and feather them. A few wedge issues where there is a black/white worldview and you fall to one side or the other have amplified this problem. To pick one from both sides: abortion and Palestine. Many people have heartfelt views on either side of those issues. It's very easy to cast the "others" on the opposite side as uncaring and evil. If you believe "words are violence" all of the sudden you are justified, in fact obligated to shut them down, shout them down, silence them, de-platform them, and demand their firing. And if you extend that, all of those consequences should not just be reserved for the speaker but also anyone who follows them, anyone who provides them with a platform, anyone who scheduled them so speak on campus and so on. There are plenty of proximate causes for the coarsening of our society: softer parenting styles, everyone-gets-a-trophy culture, social media, but my candidate is the rise of narcissism. Plenty of studies have shown that narcissism has increased, especially in the past 15-20 years since social media became widespread. It tracks: in an influencer-culture, where it's all about look-at-me, you become the center of your own world. Any disruption to that is a Bad Thing for you. When you're surrounded by amplification of your worldview by the algorithms, your internal antibodies will be strongly programmed to reject any opposing view. #MeToo, Cancel Culture, DEI, and now their analogues on the right-side have taught those who seek power that you can "defeat the evil" by getting people fired, shouting them down, getting corporations to stop working with them, or removing them from a platform. Give that mouse a cookie and he wants a glass of milk, and it leads to more. -
And the safety was coming over so it could have been knocked down or intercepted. The safety fell down so we don't know where he would've ended up. He put the ball in the right place.

They gonna pull a 2007 KU… the most overrated season/team in the history of college football

Time to fire the guy who came up with those numbers. Well, the reality is they probably are a lot worse, but this is as far as he could cook the books without it being too obvious

Yea that’s probably it

Oh yeah for sure. I wasn't really trying to overlook it, although I didn't call it out explicitly. It's certainly a difference in both consumption and interaction.

CR Post Rules 1) You can't just be up there and just doin' a post like that. 1a. A CR is when you 1b. Okay well listen. A CR is when you post the 1c. Let me start over 1c-a. The post is not allowed to do a mention to the, uh, president, that prohibits the president from doing, you know, just trying to build the wall. You can't do that. 1c-b. Once the CR is in the poster's hands, he can't be over here and say to the mods, like, "I'm gonna post ya! I'm gonna post you out! You better watch your butt!" and then just be like he didn't even do that. 1c-b(1). Like, if you're about to CR and then don't post it, you have to still do a football move. You cannot not do a football move. Does that make any sense? 1c-b(2). You gotta be, football movement with the post, and then, until you just CR it. 1c-b(2)-a. Okay, well, you can have the post up here, like this, but then there's the posters you gotta think about. 1c-b(2)-b. LaVar Ball hasn't been on any NFL teams in forever. I hope he wasn't remembered as an NFL camp body. 1c-b(2)-b(i). Oh wait, he started Big Baller Brand too! That's even worse. 1c-b(2)-b(ii). "If you can't afford the Z02's, you're not a big baller!” --LaVar Ball. Haha, classic... 1c-b(3). Okay seriously though. A CR is when the poster makes a post that, as determined by, when you do a move involving the CR and field of 2) Do not do a CR please.
