“Seattle Took It Away” (Verse 1) I’m sittin’ here watchin’ the jukebox glow, Nothin’ but heartache on the radio. We had the lead, thought the crown was ours, Now I’m drownin’ my sorrows in a smoky bar. (Chorus) Seattle took it away, on a cold, gray night, Left Houston cryin’ ‘neath the Daikan lights. One more round for the games we let slip, As October dreams fade with each whiskey sip. (Verse 2) I still see Altuve swingin’ so proud, Yordan's fly ball dyin’ out in the crowd. The bullpen broke, and the bats went cold, Now it’s Seattle’s story the papers will hold. (Chorus) Seattle took it away, on a cold, gray night, Left Houston cryin’ ‘neath the Daikan lights. One more round for the games we let slip, As October dreams fade with each whiskey sip. (Bridge) I’ll raise my glass to the years gone by, To the pennants won and the banners high. But tonight it feels like the end of the line, With a broken heart and a bottle of wine. (Chorus – soft, final) Seattle took it away, on a cold, gray night, Left Houston cryin’ ‘neath the Daikan lights. So pour me another, and let that band play… ‘Cause Seattle took it all away. (Outro) Yeah, they took it all away.

Well before the regime took office for the first time, organized religion was on the decline and the big 3 professional sports (admittedly sports in general) was supplanting it as its own sort of religion, and I would argue supplanting it at a greater pace than evangelistic Christianity. The rituals, the pageantry, and more and more the growing 'causes' interlinked with each game, each team, each player. No wonder that as sports were viewed as being culturally and socially groundbreaking, they were also the literal battlefields for power plays and wars within society about what was "proper and good." With every debate about which coach should be fired or QB benched came the other discussions and y'all know those but the foot soldiers in these battles are the overarching organizations that reinforce what it means to 'be' and live in America by showcasing and reinforcing the ideals the Oval Office wants. Through advertising, through celebrations and/or memorials etc. Money and power are the weapons used for and against, same as it ever was.

Wow. I had no memory of those.

what do you mean? Do you really think law enforcement pulled Kohberger over in bumfuck Indiana because he was "following to closely"? Nobody in the history of driving has ever been pulled over for tailgaitng. Or do you think if feds announcedtheyre looking for Bryan Kohberger in a nationwide manhunt, he'd still be alive at his parents house? I mean I dont know, I've never been a killer so some might thinking pulling off the perfect crime is in their DNA. if FBI last night flat out says "killers name is John Smith, college student at UVU"...do you think the chances of him being detained alive drop immediately? I mean I personally would rather be dead instantly than be caught and spend 4 life sentences in prison for the rest of my life. Playing stupid and begging for the publics help with tip lines, websites, rewards helps massage the killers ego thinking he's gonna get away with it. or who knows. Maybe hes at the bottom of Salt lake right now with anchors attached to his feet -
Yeah they kinda weren’t the only ones that left, and it’s not accurate to say “well the others left because of them.” No it was because the PAC12 had a shitty media rights structure and it just so happened that UCLA and USC left first. But the Arizona schools, Oregon, Washington, etc were going to leave as well and for the same reason the LA-based schools did

same I too started season 12 about 25% in. One night i just decided to watch BB. Rachel was in season 12, thats where she met brendon. married him. they were up against the brigade with Hayden, Enzo, Lane and Matt...4 dudes from 4 different walks of life that basically just ran the house for the majority until they basically had to start picking off their own more likable cast that wasnt exactly in it for social media clout and followers for life after big brother. Its since gotten progressively worse and thats when BB started tossing in stupid ass powers, twists, derailments. I'd say there, any season with Chill town- Seasons 2 and 7 would be entertaining, season 8 with evel Dick Donato winning, and Big brothers 10 & 14 with Dan Gheesling who was always an entertaining player. anything after 15-16 gets shittier, players turn into more emotional and huggy crybabies and the casting also goes down the tubes. nobody interesting, likable or relatable in recent memory.

Unreal to see an AF2 transport with a military honor guard. The complete collapse of “service to country” into “service to MAGA.” Most vet funerals do not get the full guard, it’s usually just two service members to fold the flag. And watching the full VIP transport: there used to be an office in the State Department to assist family members with the unreal awfulness of the death of a government employee in service overseas. Repatriation of remains, effects, household, paperwork, autopsies. It was closed and everyone fired in July.

I’m not sure if it’s more terrifying to think they actually didn’t know this, or they knew and put it out there anyway as misinformation like the strained interpretation of Abrego Garcia’s knuckle tattoos. With that too it’s unclear if it was stupidity or malice. Perhaps no use in distinguishing the two with these guys.

Much like his hero, TFG, he was a grifter. He told lies, blatantly lived in an alternate reality and worked to persuade people to join his warped and racist view of the world around him. These are not admirable traits and I hope he's burning in hell for the rest of eternity for the person he was for the entirety of his adult life.

I saw that too but never saw anything confirming it. I will say I think if he can handle the power shots from Canelo I think he’s can point him for a win. I expect Bud will be much more active than most of Canelo’s opponents.

Will chip in $10 and won’t even be at any games. 🤘

These organizations are currying favor with the chief executive without being explicitly told to, because that’s what is expected and those who don’t will be noticed. For the same reason, most MSM is avoiding accurate reporting on what Kirk said and worked for (it’s possible to do so without condoning or justifying the attack and 30 years ago they would have). They do not want to be targets of the hate machine or an outburst from the Oval. Speaking of cancel culture and soft censorship. They are all obeying in advance.
