Dad moves into daughter's college dorm; forces roommates into prostitution & other shit

I read that NY Mag article, and what’s wild to me is not just that this dude lived in a Sarah Lawrence dorm room. The NY mag just accepted a SL quote of “we have no record of him living on campus.”  No shit you don’t, he wasn’t paying bills or a student.

But I gotta say, I don’t know what standard practice here is. I know you can’t stop someone from bringing home some townie for an overnight to the dorm. At what point can/will a university intervene and say “you can’t live here, GTFO.”

No one ever reported him living there so they had no idea. I’m sure if any of the roommates and/or friends complained, the college would have removed him, but no one did. A lot of shit happens on campus I’m sure a university wouldn’t be too pleased about.

In the story it says some parents did complain and they were told the college couldn’t stop a parent from “visiting”.

He was hosting movie nights in the common room and shit. It’s hard to move in a middle aged man to a college dorm and no RAs or something know.

Watch the documentary. Claudia, the only one hooking, wasn’t getting 8K for sex. That price was for like 24 hours. The hour fee was $1500. Still a lot but shits expensive in NY.

$8K for an overnight is common for a high end escort in a major city.

She was likely raking in that sort of money mentioned earlier.  The money is made on those overnights/weekends, extended appointments.  They're not doing 10 guys one after the other for $1K per guy.  They're doing one guy over the weekend for $10K.

The Slonim Woods complex they lived in didn’t seem to be a traditional dorm set up, as In rooms shared by two people with a community bathroom, or even a suite with two rooms separated by a bathroom. It’s apparently more like a block of four apartments, two stories with (it seemed) two bedrooms each. They had living rooms, and that’s where Larry camped out, so you couldn’t escape him in Talia’s unit. There were decent sized kitchens, and he splurged on them and made them nice meals.  An RA would probably notice Dad is around a lot, but unless they shared one of the units, they wouldn’t know everything going on. If the heat got too much, I assume Larry just disappeared for a few days. Or, the most likely scenario, the RA didn’t give a fuck.

Some of the students fell for his bullshit, others saw right thru him. The real brainwashing came during the summer and ensuing years, when everyone moved onto a small apartment he had appropriated from a friend. The Rosario Family provided the main fuel for his ridiculousness. The story of the eldest daughter is just mind blowing.

watched the first two episodes last night, will finish tonight... but yeah, this is fascinating to me. i guess it's the same with most cults...

Raven had his number from the very beginning. she especially was rightfully and vocally calling him out for creepiness and inappropriateness almost immediately. so what separated her (and the other guys) from the kids that fell under his spell? like what is it in someone's brain that makes them more susceptible to this?? they were all obviously intelligent and idealistic young people, nobody seemed to have experienced any exceptional emotional or psychological trauma. it's just fascinating to me. i wonder if there have been studies of former cult members, trying to pinpoint what it is.

that poor family that lost all of their children along with hundreds of thousands of dollars, those parents were literally just broken people.

I’m 15 minutes into episode two and this shit is crazy.  What college kids want to hangout with this guy?  He definitely puts off something isn’t right vibes, I’d be creeped out right away.  He prayed on the right group of kids.  Now a Harvard grad that’s in Columbia medical school?  It’s pretty fascinating.

People who don't feel loved or seen/understood by their families, justifiably or not, turn to cults.  There's a reason Scientology targets lonely young people in big cities. They make for easy prey for the assholes out there who know all they need is a little focused attention.  I still need to watch this doc.

I should be an high end prostitute.  I'm not gay, but $10k is $10k.

i was glad to see the reunion and happy ending of sorts for the Rosario family...it was pretty incredible to see the gradual change in Felicia as she became more and more removed from being in his presence. thank God he was denied bail!

on the flip side, Isabella cutting off contact then issuing that statement sounded like she was saying the bare minimum in order to get her plea bargain. she obviously still isn't in contact with her mother. she was still so far gone the last time on camera...i hope she gets some help.

I definitely got the feel the mom didn’t really care too much, the contrast in her interviews and the Rosario’s parents was night and day.  I’m not sure those two were ever very close and she sees him as the only person to ever care about her.  She’s got a lot of work to do and hopefully she does one day.

This second episode is fucking nuts. He’s got them hitting themselves to punish each other. Using pliers on tongues. Heavy machinery. Locks on refrigerators. Bernie Kerik. This story has everything.

Talia was the bait. She started dating Santos. She seemed out of his league, so of course he would back up Larry. Isabella started sleeping in the same room with him at the dorm. She was the catalyst. She didn’t have a great home life, and latched on to Larry’s bullshit. Claudia was second to succumb to the manipulation, but she was never interviewed, so we didn’t hear much about her home life, but since she ended up hooking, maybe it wasn’t the best. Daniel was the strangest one. Seems like he wouldn’t fall for Larry’s shit, with a good home life, but Daniel was the first to bail. After Daniel bailed, it was basically the Rosario family and Isabella.
