OL and LB look like the two weak positions to me going into next season.

Not worried about QB DB RB or WR.  Cade Brewer needs to have his breakout season at TE.  DL is riddled with talent and may be our strongest position.

Fyi... May want to update chart @HtownHorn

  • Appears that Adimora, Owens, and Washington are all Sophmores (none redshirted)
  • Also Fr-RS column at top says 17,¬† but by dropping 3 above, it should total to only 12.
  • Soph column may be 22 now??
  • Junior column may be 20??
  • Senior column may be 12??

Time for Hand to get these younger OL guys to step up and play great in 2020!!

Here is the latest.

Crazy...

Roach reporting Texas may have interest in Bama grad transfer WR...

Thx for this @satyanash

"Texas already added graduate transfer Tarik Black to their roster earlier this spring, but the staff may not be done working the portal. After speaking with a source near Alabama graduate transfer Tyrell Shavers this weekend, Horns247 has learned that the Longhorns have been in contact with the Lewisville (Texas) native.  The source indicated that Shavers would have interest in Texas along with TCU, Mississippi State and Central Florida. "

(I still think SMU and Baylor are in play too...)

Official bama site lists him as redshirt Jr., so two years to play two. 6-6, 205. Consensus 4-star out of Louisville.  Love me some big-bodied receivers. (Well, not like that.)

Shavers was the top rated WR in Texas in 2017. A class that also included Reagor, Lamb, and Wallace.

Ruggs, Smith, and Jeudy in his class just at Bama.

CeeDee Lamb also came out of TX that year. 2017 was a stupid for year for WRs.

Do the walk ons who get left over scholarships as underclassmen get to keep them?  I know they are year to year for everyone.  But do we actually not renew for walk ons?

Because otherwise unless they are good enough to be on the two deep, I would think you would only want to give those to seniors.

This is an interesting question, because Herman awarded 5 underclassmen walkons with scholarships last year. Most of those guys were sophomores.

Only Coutomanos is a senior in 2020 that was previously a walk on. Jaquess, Hine, Brockermeyer, and Mader all have multiple years of eligibility left. Though I am not sure where they are academically.

Longhorns enter summer in good shape with scholarship numbers

ByJEFF HOWE 17 hours ago

"Longhorns at 86 scholarships on paper.  Nevertheless, Herman’s declaration that Texas heads into the summer two scholarships shy of the 85-man maximum gives the staff room to either add a missing piece before hitting the practice field in August or to reward a non-scholarship player for their efforts down the road."

Great info -- Big Thx @Fud

Fud Post Today :  "If anyone is interested in 2021 class counter size, I went back several years to see how many available spots we have, and it's 29 (four open spots from 2020). This is only the limiting factor from the 25 class counter, and not the 85 fall camp roster rule. Any transfers we bring in count against those 29, and also some spots will likely need to be for 2022 "
