I was once attacked by a roving band of Japanese snowmonkeys while fishing with my roommate at Pedernales Falls. Their first move is to send one of them out ahead of you, in my case on the other side of the river (really a creek) and have him jump out exactly like this and start the dance. It's that stunning moment in which the beasts on this side of the river make their move. The last thing I remember hearing with clarity was "whoop whoop whoop" and then turning towards the noise and getting slapped across the face by a redfaced, midget demon. Thanks for rekindling the nightmare.

Did they hook up your 5th wheel and knock out your vapor light?

Tollison committed to Mizzou.  Not sure what aggy will end up with on OL.  They should be pushing for Wykoff, but I guess he isn't cubey enough.  Fatheree seems pretty open.  Got to be another Tank Jenkins/Clement take for this class right?

I think LSU leads for Fatheree, with OU running second

they have 20 OT offers out right now - to only 7 OG. So Henson is TRYING his best to decube. They have Redass Zuhn in the class. They appear to be counting Jaedon Roberts in the class, but I have no idea why. LSU only took 3 OL in 2020, so they are going to take a big class and Roberts seems like a kid that ends up there. I have no info - it just seems right. Beyond that, aggy is counting on Fatheree and if he really wants to play basketball, I think aggy seems likely. His top 9 featured several schools that aren't really after him that hard and/or wouldn't be likely to encourage his basketball endeavors or are schools he's never visited (like Notre Dame). It seems like he'll end up at aggy to me. The rest of their offers are mostly just to put their hat in the ring. I think Cade will end up with much better options and Byrd seems highly unlikely as well. Wykoff appears to be a real possibility,  esp. with the curious multi-board posting about his final group by Wiltfong. That certainly felt like an attempt to pump up Wykoff's perception.  Maximus Gibbs is listed as 360 pounds but came in to a camp at 390 -- so maybe he's an option?

If they get Zuhn, Fatheree, and Wykoff I think they'll be done, but if not we will see some of those LA, MS late offers to JimboCubes to really complete their class. Henson has been offering his type of guys but as the clock ticks I think we'll see more cubes with offers. That's how almost every class played out at FSU with Trickett v. Jimbo.

I guess LSU is going to let him pursue basketball? I was under the impression that they haven't been able to meet with Will Wade yet, but I also admit I haven't followed him much because I didn't think he'd end up a Texas target and I have doubts about him as a football player long term. I know LSU Is going to take like 4-5 OTs in this class, so it certainly makes sense for them to do whatever it takes. Yeah, I like Roberts a lot.

No idea on the basketball stuff. If he ever wants to be stud tackle though, he can't cut to basketball weight after every football season

I will say that Fatheree leaning LSU would help make sense of Wiltfong making all those fucking post about a 3* OT making a top 7 tweet. Fong posted it on the blue board, USC, Texas, Auburn, Texas Tech, Aggy, and Penn State forums. Seven fucking posts hyping up a 3* OT with a top 7?

I think we can go ahead and assume he's aggy.

Nothing much since the offer

Kind of makes sense with the profile Hand looks for in OL. He seems to really value height and athleticism, even with his interior OL. Most zone schemes tend toward that over road graders, but I think Hand leans that way a bit too much and passes up some good IOL prospects.

Relatedly, I think we run too much zone in short yardage and goal line situations and I’d like to see us get a few more guys who can create  push 1 on 1 in obvious run situations. Shanahan mixes zone and man runs almost perfectly, and I’d like to see us mix in more man runs to make our offense less predictable.

Roberts looked massive on TV in the playoffs. It might have just been hand feeling good about the Katy Taylor kids, or maybe Roberts just isn't interested

Perroni put out a fluff piece about the next aggy commit.  Had Harmon, Burris, Fatheree, Jackson, Thomas, and Foster on it.
Lulz on Thomas and he did say OU and Texas feel good about Foster, but then mentioned the aggy mom/legacy thing winning out.

Someone on the IT boards asked about who the surprise aggy would be this cycle and the response was Thomas. Apparently he’s a pretty impressionable kid who could succumb to the pressure sell.

Of that list, I bet they land Harmon and Burris. They’ll fuck up Fatheree because he’s a legit tackle prospect. Either that or they land him and he grows out of football. A real choose your own schadenfreude. Foster could be an Olympic thrower, aggy has a shit program. Jackson will be interesting. Their supreme confidence makes me think he will end up elsewhere.

Yea we have 3 ISDs, 4 if you want to count txk, ar. Not big compared to many, but not a small town as you said.

I suppose by ETX standards, but small enough that it's been reported he sees Austin as intimidatingly big.

Not per the locals here at PG. They say he is listening but not really all in. That was december and January though.

Burris visited for Elite Day and supposedly Ash and the new scheme gave some new life in this recruitment.  He didn't make the aggy Super bowl party.

Aggy is giving him the Bobby Brown/Leal pitch as being a DE and then get moved to DT once he arrives.  Texas has told him he's a DT.

There is something out there where marcus says Austin is a big town? This I want to see. He apparently loves going to Dallas with friends as I understand.

Not being a dick tex, but man, post that shi0t up where he hates big towns. Confusing from what I hear.

After signing one of the top defensive line classes in the country in 2020, Texas A&M could end up with an even better group in 2021.

The Aggies are in good shape with quite a few prospects, both in the state of Texas and nationally.

Though new names will likely emerge during the spring evaluation period, here is where things currently stand with the top targets.

VERY GOOD SHOTS WITH

Texarkana Pleasant Grove DE Landon Jackson: A&M was the first to offer the 6-foot-6, 240-pound defender and his dad is a former walkon basketball player for the Aggies. Texas is trying to make things interesting, but A&M is in good shape. He will officially visit the weekend of the spring game. LSU will also get an official visit in May and Alabama will likely receive one, too, in addition to the Longhorns at some point. Still, though, the Aggies are in very good shape here.

Texarkana Pleasant Grove DE Marcus Burris: A teammate of Jackson’s, the 6-foot-4, 262-pound four-star defender might be even higher on A&M than his teammate is. Burris could potentially end up inside but, at the moment, is being recruited as an end. He is the best bet of any of the highly-ranked prospects to end up an Aggie.

Port Arthur Memorial DE Jordon Thomas: A&M has not always had a ton of success in the Golden Triangle but the four-star defender has long listed the Aggies as his top school. However, a recent Junior Day visit to Austin put Texas up there as well. This will be an A&M-Texas battle with Thomas planning to visit Aggieland a couple more times this spring and summer. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound defender missed almost all of this past season with an injury, so that is at leasy somewhat of a concern, but he should be fine going forward.

GOOD SHOTS WITH

IMG Academy DE Tunmise Adeleye: After transferring from Katy Tompkins, the 6-foot-3 defender has trimmed down to 240 pounds and has turned himself into more of an edge rusher. That is a scary thought for opposing offensive linemen. Though some other schools have gotten into the mix since his transfer, such as Florida, the national top-50 prospect is still highest on A&M, Alabama and Ohio State. He will be at A&M for an unofficial visit the weekend of the spring game. Adeleye plans to announce his decision on Aug. 1.

Philadelphia (Pa.) Northeast DE Elijah Jeudy: Texas A&M was one of the first schools to offer the 6-foot-3, 233-pound four-star defender. Also, being from Philadelphia, he has developed a strong bond with Elijah Robinson, who is from just across the bridge in Camden. Jeudy has been to A&M before and will be back for an unofficial at the end of this month. Penn State is going to provide major competition, as are Alabama, Georgia and LSU. But, the Aggies have positioned themselves well with the No. 170 overall prospect.

Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic DT Tywone Malone: The Aggies had a lot of success in South Jersey in the class of 2020 and will look to do the same in the north of the state this cycle. The 6-foot-3.5, 300-pound defensive tackle unofficially visited Aggieland during the season this past year and has A&M as one of his top schools. He, too, has built a very solid relationship with Robinson. Penn State also is in good shape there while some of the other Big 10 schools have recruited the area well.

Fort Washington (Md.) National Christian Academy DE Monkell Goodwine: The 6-foot-4, 260-pound junior could end up as a defensive tackle as well. Ranked as the nation’s No. 114 overall prospect, he was blown away by an unofficial visit to A&M in the fall. He also has a former teammate, Joshuah Moten, on the roster in College Station. Much of the SEC is after him and will make this a tough battle, but he is a fan of the Aggies for sure.

VERY MUCH IN THE MIX

DeSoto DE Shemar Turner: The 6-foot-3.5, 260-pound defender was outstanding at A&M’s camp this past summer. He then went out and had a dominant junior season. Turner is interested in the Aggies but has a ton of suitors as well. A recent unofficial visit to Alabama before the dead period went very well and the Tide are in good shape if they push. Other than that, he is pretty open at this point.

Houma (La.) Terrebonne DT Maason Smith: The five-star prospect is interested in A&M, as evidenced by multiple unofficial visits already. However, getting a highly-rated defender out of the state of Louisiana is very, very tough. The 6-foot-5, 316-pounder is someone the Aggies will continue to recruit heavily, but LSU is not going to let him go easily. Alabama is also very involved with him.

Mansfield Legacy DE David Abiara: The 6-foot-4, 248-pound defender is a newer name to emerge, not just on A&M’s radar but that of several other schools as well. His sister goes to A&M, so that helps with the familiarity, but both Notre Dame and Oklahoma feel very good about their chances, especially the former.

Westlake Village (Calif.) Westlake DT Victory Vaka: Just like a number of others on this list, the 6-foot-3, 315-pound Vaka is high on A&M because of his relationship with Robinson. The nation’s No. 200 overall prospect, he has never been to A&M. That will change, though, as he has an unofficial visit scheduled for early May. Vaka has officials scheduled for Florida, Michigan and Oregon already, so A&M will have to work to get one of the final two. He does not plan to announce until the Early Signing Day and will then enroll early.

Others still looking at A&M: Gaithersburg (Md.) Quince Orchard DT Marcus Bradley; Vero Beach, Fla. DE Keanu Koht; New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine DE Byron Turner Jr.

Where A&M stands with 15 top targets in the 2021 class

VIP By BRIAN PERRONI

With Texas A&M only having a few targets left in the class of 2020 after the Early Signing Period, the Aggies’ attention can now be turned to the next class.

Though the first big junior day will not likely be until the Super Bowl, there will almost certainly be some top targets on campus once the dead period ends next Friday.

Jimbo Fisher likes getting off to a hot start and would love to land a few more prospects in the not-too-distant future to join the current pledges in the class – four-star quarterback Eli Stowers and four-star wide receiver Shadrach Banks.

This is by no means every player that Aggies are after heavily and there will also be a number of targets that pop up during the spring evaluation period, there are 15 players that are definite targets at the moment.

A&M is in at least decent shape with all of them and is the outright leader for a few and in a small top group with others.

Here is where things stand with 15 of A&M’s top targets in the class.

KATY TOMPKINS DE TUNMISE ADELEYE

Katy Tompkins five-star defensive end Tunmise Adeleye was scheduled to announce his decision earlier this month, but pushed it back to Aug. 1 as he was not ready to make a commitment. He recently released a top six but it is A&M, Alabama and Ohio State at the top right now. A&M was his first offer and has distance in its favor. If Texas runs a defense he likes more than the previous three-man front, the Longhorns could get back into things as well.

TEXARKANA PLEASANT GROVE DE MARCUS BURRIS

Marcus Burris is one of a pair of defensive ends at Pleasant Grove that are major A&M targets. He has long been very high on the Aggies and the talk around East Texas is that the 6-foot-4, 262-pound four-star prospect is a heavy A&M lean. If you are looking for a candidate to be the next commitment in the class for the Maroon and White, Burris is as good a guess as anybody.

GRANDVIEW TE/DE DAMETRIOUS CROWNOVER

Dametrious Crownover is a 6-foot-6, 235-pound four-star prospect that was offered by A&M as an athlete. The Aggies like him at either tight end or defensive end. They basically just want him in the class and will figure things out from there. He helped lead the Zebras to back-to-back state titles and is relatively open at this point. However, Crownover has been to A&M numerous times and has the Aggies as one of his top schools. If he does decide early, A&M is in good shape.

RICHMOND FOSTER OT REUBEN FATHEREE

This is a very strong offensive line class and the Aggies really need to do their best to clean up, especially in state. Reuben Fatheree is an athletic tackle that is also a basketball standout. An athletic 6-foot-7, 310 pounds, his ceiling is through the roof as a left tackle prospect. Fatheree has A&M as one of his top schools and has been to College Station a lot of times. The son of a basketball coach, he plans to take some official visits in the spring, but then could decide soon after. LSU is one of A&M’s main competitors for him, as is Notre Dame.

KATY TAYLOR OG BRYCE FOSTER

An incredibly gifted guard prospect, Bryce Foster has been starting on varsity for Taylor since his freshman year. The 6-foot-4.5, 318-pound four-star prospect helped the Mustangs to the state semifinals this season. He comes from an Aggie family as his mom is a former student and his brother a former walk-on at A&M. He has said he plans to wait a bit before making a commitment, but the Aggies are in a strong position.

VIRGINIA BEACH (VA.) PRINCESS ANNE CB TONY GRIMES

The nation’s top cornerback, five-star Tony Grimes has a ton of interest in the Aggies despite being from the East Coast. In fact, in each of the past two summers, he and his family have spent almost an entire week in College Station. He plans to return this coming April for an official visit. Clemson and Penn State are also going to get visits as he has a decision date planned for late November or early December. Grimes is a big fan of both Jimbo Fisher and cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist and A&M has a very real shot at landing the elite prospect from out of state.

DALLAS KIMBALL CB ISHMAEL IBRAHEEM

A&M has offers out to a trio of in-state cornerbacks in the class and are recruiting each heavily. However, four-star Ishmael Ibraheem could be the prize. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound defender is still relatively new to football but has shown the athleticism and natural ability to pick up offers from the top schools in the country. He is not likely close to a decision at this point as he wants to take all his officials, but he has A&M in his top group as he is a big fan of Linguist as well.

TEXARKANA PLEASANT GROVE DE LANDON JACKSON

Landon Jackson is still a bit raw and that’s a scary thought for opposing offensive linemen. The 6-foot-6, 240-pound junior actually spent a lot of the year at outside linebacker in helping Pleasant Grove to a state title. The five-star prospect is one of the Aggies’ top overall targets and his father played basketball at A&M. His first offer also came from A&M defensive ends coach Terry Price as a freshman. The Aggies have a very good shot at landing Jackson, who says A&M and LSU are recruiting him the hardest right now. My Crystal Ball pick is on A&M.

CY-FAIR RB LJ JOHNSON

There are two running backs in the state that are 1A and 1B at this point and LJ Johnson is one of them. Playing in a tough Class 6A district, he averaged just shy of 10 yards per carry this season as he combine size with outstanding speed. Johnson ran an electronic 4.42 last spring. Johnson grew up a big fan of LSU as his family is from Louisiana and the Tigers might be A&M’s biggest competition. Texas is up there as well as those three will likely be the ones battling for him.

MIAMI (FLA.) NORTHWESTERN LB TERRENCE LEWIS

A&M went into Miami and landed national top-100 defensive end Donell Harris in the 2020 class. That not only landed the Aggies an elite pass rusher, it also helped their chances with five-star junior linebacker Terrence Lewis. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder visited Aggieland with Harris back in the summer. Lewis, who is incredibly fast and hits like a much bigger player, will likely be another battle with in-state Florida, though Nebraska is another school of interest. Harris will do his part in helping to convince his friend to end up in Maroon and White as well.

HOUSTON EPISCOPAL OT CULLEN MONTGOMERY

Though he has not received as much attention as his teammate, new Ohio State commit Donovan Jackson, offensive tackle Cullen Montgomery picked up a number of big offers in the spring and the summer. One of those came from A&M. Montgomery admitted that Fisher had him almost wanting to commit on the spot. The 6-foot-5, 315-pounder is very high on the Aggies but Alabama, Michigan and Oklahoma are going to be the biggest competition for him.

NORTH SHORE OL JAEDEN ROBERTS

Even while still going to school in Kansas as a sophomore, Jaeden Roberts made his way to Aggieland on an unofficial visit and was offered. The 6-foot-4.5, 335-pound four-star lineman moved to Texas over the summer and played tackle in helping North Shore to another state title. The Aggies have been recruiting him as hard as anyone and are in as good of shape as anybody else. If A&M can find a way to get his older brother, linebacker Matthew Roberts, on campus as a potential grayshirt, it would make it very, very tough for anyone else to land the younger Roberts. The elder Roberts has A&M atop his list after being offered at camp over the summer.

PORT ARTHUR MEMORIAL DE JORDON THOMAS

Though Texas was the first Power 5 offer for four-star defensive end Jordon Thomas and the Longhorns have traditionally done very well in the Golden Triangle, the 6-foot-3, 240-pound junior has named the Aggies as his leader. There is talk around Port Arthur that Thomas, who broke his ankle in the first game this year and missed the rest of the season, could potentially be an early A&M commit. Don’t count out LSU or Texas, though.

GARLAND LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL RB CAMAR WHEATON

Camar Wheaton burst onto the scene as a freshman when he ran for 429 yards and five touchdowns in a first-round playoff game after having only been brought up to varsity a few weeks prior. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound junior is now a five-star prospect as he has elite speed and, once he gets to the corner, is incredibly hard to catch, yet less tackle. Wheaton is one of the quieter prospects in the class and plays things close to the vest. However, all three of A&M, Oklahoma and Texas are in decent shape with him. He also took a ton of visits in the fall all around the country and is willing to go further from home for school. It is going to be a tough battle for any school looking to land him.

FORT COLLINS (COLO.) FOSSIL RIDGE OT TREY ZUHN

4COMMENTS

After Trey Zuhn attended a one-day camp at A&M this past summer, it was no surprise to see the 6-foot-5, 275-pound tackle immediately offered. Though he lives in Colorado, he has serious ties to A&M. He was born in College Station and has family, including grandparents as well as aunts and uncles, still living in Aggieland. Zuhn’s father was a walk-on at A&M and the young player grew up a fan of the Aggies. Still, a number of national programs are after him. I have my Crystal Ball on A&M but Ohio State and Oklahoma are both very much in the picture as well.

I’d like to think we were smart enough to mention that Leal and brown were recruited at de but played dt as freshmen.
