Absolutely serious. Trump has or is attempting to: * Make it acceptable for the President to subvert congress' power of the purse, edging the Presidency closer to a supreme rulership * Shut down Mueller's investigation into his campaign before it has reached its natural conclusion and all facts are known, putting the President above the law * Purge areas of the government of experts with decades of career experience in favor of yes men, resulting in unquestioned Presidential policy uninformed by expertise * Undermine the credibility of US intelligence services, rendering us more vulnerable to continued attack by hostile nations that have served the President's political interests * Alienate us from NATO and traditional allies in democracy, isolating us within the world and making the worst caricature of America a reality The above is irrefutable, and has nothing to do with ideology, politics or policy. All of that weakens the disparate groups around the Presidency that have the ability to directly or indirectly influence or constrain the President. It serves to consolidate power within the singular individual sitting in the oval office. That would be wrong for a Democrat. It would be wrong for George Washington, Abe Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Eisenhower, Reagan, Clinton, Obama or any of the other 44 President's that came before Trump. None of them tried, because they saw America and the Presidency as something sacred, solemn and bigger than themselves. Trump? The Presidency and our government's distributed power structure is his to bend to his will, and damn whatever ramifications that has for the future. Fuck him. Fuck you. You can keep drinking the orange koolaid, but I'll have to pass (hint: its piss).16 points

There’s a reason the IOC has no restrictions on trans men (former women) competing and have testosterone level restrictions for trans women (former men) It’s the same reason they don’t let men fight women in MMA. Testosterone matters She is right. The people arguing against her are idiots14 points

Swam4Texas once nominated me for the Nobel Prize, but the very next day he took a shit in the middle of my lawn, pointed at it and screamed "that's you!" and then held a 50 minute debate with the mailbox. But my point is that I was nominated. I'll never get it. They'll give it to Obama, though.12 points

He’s a bit of a luddite, so he writes me letters. His calligraphy is quite advanced and something to behold. Anyway, in our last correspondence, he wrote that the physical rigors of the gridiron at the CFB level were quite concerning. Write him yourself and post about it here if you find something to contradict what he’s telling me.12 points

I'm cross posting this from the Fedora thread because I think it's relevant to recruiting. Total speculation but I wouldn't be shocked if Drayton is gone. His twitter has been completely dead for over 2 weeks now. He's not following recruits, he's not tweeting anything, he's not liking anything. Hand has also been following a lot of RB recruits like he's taking over that recruiting effort. Hand has been following a bunch of RB recruits this morning which is interesting combined with the lack of activity from Drayton. The lack of activity from Drayton is odd if he's staying on staff.9 points

Is this not the most perfect representation of Peak aggy? This is what they have always done, from Carriger's forearms, all the way to Randy Moss' and Jerry Rice's bastard love-child Demas. They are truly gifted at one thing, and that is revising ANY narrative to always make aggy look like they are THE BEST! It isn't enough to have a commitment from a true 5-star elite player. No sir. This must be the single greatest football specimen that has ever existed in the last 30 years. It isn't enough to have students serve in WW2...they must be fellated by General Patton and be the best student warriors ever known to mankind, including those slackers at the Service Academies! It isn't enough to have a lot of money...no, aggy must be the richest school basically ever in the history of modern finance. Student Body: BEST! Stadium: BEST! Head Coach: BESTEST EVER!! And yet, these legendary revisionists have spent the better part of the last month complaining loudly about recruiting rankings being revised in favor of Texas. They will never change, and they will never stop tripping over their tiny dicks in the most embarrassing fashion. It is a truly unique spectacle that I will never get tired of.8 points

Your logic is flawed. Ultimately, gender is a set of behaviors. And there is evidence that gender itself (like many behaviors) has a biological/developmental link (for instance exposure to certain hormones at critical times in development) and is established early in life. While the vast majority of males (sex) are born as men (gender) and thus have the behavioral attributes of men, some do not. The a similar pattern is true of females (sex). There is no harm in recognizing that same males are born as women and that some females are born as men, nor in using that taxonomy in social settings. Sports are a different matter due to the importance of testosterone. While gender is a social classification, sex is indisputably grounded in biology, in particular the presence and level of the sex hormones. And the male sex is equipped with an abundance of testosterone, resulting in greater physical strength. Using sex as the primary classification for sports makes sense given that distinction. That doesn't obliterate the usefulness or necessity of using gender (as opposed to sex) in other social settings.7 points

All just my stupid fucking opinion, but it seems like the conservative street is getting primed for the President to take action. Just like they were primed before the declaration of a national emergency. I am guessing it will be a purge within the justice department and/or an attempt to short circuit Mueller's investigation. McCabe's "coup" is the justification, and the groundwork was laid with the NYT oped last year about the "steady state resistance" opposing Trump within the government. A soft purge within the GOP also seems likely. Anyone who would oppose Trump's attempt to subvert congress' constitutional authority to control the purse and be a check against a rogue President driving the country into the shitter will be pressured to resign or be primaried in the next election. This "national emergency" and whatever is about to come down is in effect a test. A test of who in the GOP will be a team player in the attempt to secure an ultimate conservative victory for control of America by any means necessary. The next two years may prove to be the most important in our nation's history. Certainly they are the most important of my lifetime to date. The stakes could not be higher. Some people here talk about Trump being a stupid wannabe authoritarian and that he could be much more dangerous. While that may be true, he doesn't need to be smart, cunning or brave to make America an authoritarian state -- only smarter, more cunning and brave than Republican senators that are in the position to check how much power gets centralized into the Presidency.7 points

My CDC story: My wife and I were in Austin a few weeks ago to see George Strait at the Palmer Center. $125 for front row seats to the see The King is worth every penny. The morning after we decided to grab breakfast at the original location of Magnolia Cafe. Sure enough, CDC is there having a breakfast meeting and we went over to say hello. I thought it would a brief exchange. CDC preceded to talk to us for about 10 minutes. His emotional intelligence is through the roof. I've never met anyone so personable in my entire life. The highlights: - I lead off with thanking him and told him we were proud of the job he was doing. - I told him we lived in Houston. And CDC kind of paused, and said man there are a lot of Aggys there. You need to plant the flag and represent The University of Texas. - I said we were very excited about the LSU game in Austin and we planned to attend. He said, not good enough. You have to buy season tickets. We need you two in DKR 7 Saturdays a year. - He gave my wife and I some good life advice that I won't detail here. It was really touching. He said, think of me of your grandfather Chris. - He gave his card to my wife and I, and asked us to please call him if we had any trouble getting tickets. Obviously I was star struck, but we couldn't be in better, more capable hands. It's rare that someone lives us to their reputation. Fund raising and attention to detail will never be an issue in Bellmont as long as CDC is here.7 points

You’ve heard me refer to this previously in the Sugar Bowl write-ups. UGa uses it as their base defensive front. So does Texas. You’ll see it again from LSU next year on nearly every snap. This is one of the most important trends in FBS defenses today and the importance is only growing. Get used to hearing about it even if it doesn't get as much press as the sexier pass defense schemes. What is it? The Tite Front stars with a 3 man DL that aligns with 4i-0-4i techs. IOW, 2 DEs play inside eye on the OTs and a 0-tech NT. Behind them are 2 ILBs – Mac and Rover in Orlando’s terminology with an OLB (Buck or Jack LB) setting one edge. The other edge is usually controlled by either a 4th LB (Sam) or 5th DB (Nickel Back). Why use it? It shuts down the A-gaps using the NT and one or both ILBs. It threatens both B-gaps with the inside shade 4 techs. It discourages teams from pulling guards due the ability of the 4i DEs to pinch down and follow the guard to the ball. And it does all of that with 5 players, usually leaving a free hitter while spilling runs to the outside. The 4i shade makes it easier to double the DE with the guard and tackle but then you’re likely using 5 OL to block 3 DL, leaving the LBs completely clean. RPOs take advantage of conflicting LB responsibilities. A favorite uses either inside zone or power run with a pass option to the backside slant. The QB reads the backside OLB like a read option. If the LB crashes down, throw the slant instead of a QB keeper since he’s the underneath coverage for that pattern. If the LB stays to the outside, the QB hands off. The 404 Tite Front helps stymie this by spilling the play, forcing the RB to slow down and cut to the outside toward run support from the secondary. The backside OLB (or NB) can hang out there in space to clog the hook/slant zone against the RPO pass. What are the weaknesses? There is no big run stopper to set the edge and control the C-gaps, like a 4-3 DE. The secondary has to come up in run support and be effective once the play is forced outside to them, much like a safety running the lane against the triple option. The critical role as run stoppers can create opportunities for vertical routes over the top. Many teams have judged this tradeoff to be worthwhile to stop the horizontal stretch and shorter vertical stretch aspects of Spread Offense from gashing them on long, sustained drives. There’s a lot of complexity and variation behind the basics. I just wanted to cover the what and why behind the switch to 3 down linemen across FBS so people can see how defenses are adapting to the Spread. I think you're just hoping to stir up trouble by ironically supporting the criticism of Navratilova. I think the stand that most tolerant people take regarding transgenderism is that the evidence shows that the sexual spectrum is not a neat and tidy division between between black and white. This untidiness is what, in my opinion, mysteriously alarms most intolerant people. The issue of competition in gender separated sports illuminates a place where the emergent realization of sexual complexity disrupts the belief/desire for a clear line. Navratilova raises a valid issue that sprang up with Rene Richards decades ago. I don't know what the answer is. Trans persons who started with a female frame wouldn't have an advantage among elite female athletes. A trans person who started as formidable male athlete would seem to be unfair on the playing field. On the other hand, you don't want to stigmatize someone who was born in the untidy part of the sexual spectrum. I can only guess that if I, a man who when younger was a powerful football lineman with speed, were to align my identity to become a female, I would feel like I had an unfair advantage over other women in many physical contests. I wouldn't feel that way if I were 5'10 and 160 pounds. How do you work the rules and laws to accommodate that? I have no idea. Finally, I want to be clear that my use of untidy in no way implies dirty or wrong.6 points

My wife is half Cuban. Her aunt in Miami used to make a classic Cuban pork dish and they’d ship it up to Virginia for Christmas dinner. Tonight I made the dish for her. Lechon asado with Cuban black beans and rice. Along with the Cuban sandwich ( made from this recipe), Ropa vieja, arroz con pollo and a couple of other dishes this is one of the classic Cuban dishes. It starts with a mojo which is a marinade. First the garlic paste. This recipe calls for a lot of garlic. Garlic, cumin, oregano, salt and pepper combined Add olive oil to make a paste Make deep slices into a pork shoulder to work the paste into the meat Now comes the marinade. A lot of recipes call for orange juice and lime juice. No. That does not work. You need Seville oranges (bitter oranges) or it will not be right. Trust me, I’ve tried that recipe. You can use this orange juice as it is from Seville oranges. Also pictured is the olive oil I use which is a fantastic olive oil. into the pot to marinate for 24 hours along with two onions sliced into rings Also soaking for 24 hours are the black beans time to bring it all together. Bacon, olive oil, garlic, onions, cumin, salt and pepper for the black beans The pork roasts for about four hours. While it’s roasting I take those onion rings and caramelize them. Every had citrusy, caramelized onions? They’re amazing. The finished product.6 points

This is why pointing out hypocrisy is pointless. They literally see everything as right and wrong and in their world everything republican is right and everything "librul" is wrong. Throw in religion, and they consider everything "librul" to be not only wrong but literally evil. Calling them hypocrites just makes them double down on their persecution complex. When Franklin Graham, Jerry Fallwell, that old piece of shit on the 700 Club, and that asshole at the Dallas church goes on TV and validates them, it becomes an actual holy war. Anything to their desired end. The constitution matters when it helps them, it doesn't when it doesn't. Who cares. Their on a mission from god to fix all these librul heathens who are inspired by the devil to stand up for migrant workers and advocate for better healthcare.5 points

Here's the problem. You miss nothing by putting that wordshitter on ignore. I mean nothing. It's like putting Phlegm on ignore. They just pull up and take their own personal grumpies on threads over and over and it it's all insipid, meaningless drivel that fails to move the conversation along. The only time I ever even pause to think about what this goober is doing is when you're fucking quoting him. I think the rest of the recruiting board may have that thread-dumper blocked at this point. Pull yourself together and stop stooping to the banal and forcing the rest of us to also bear witness to his posts.4 points

It's doubtful that that will happen thanks to the grand obstructionist party. And we know that you and your ilk won't move on - you're still hate-stroking it to clinton. If trump goes down, he's going to be a martyr for every jim-bob and cleetus and GRHorn, because those dang deep state-r's keep tricking trump and dozens of his advisers and staffers to act in a compromised way to russia. Nothing is ever trump's fault, and if it is, it isn't illegal, and if it is, the law is wrong and should be changed. Or something like that, right?4 points

One of my favorite storylines from their 2012 season is Sumlin kicking off his tenure the SECSECSEC way by saying he was suspending 2 players for the first game of the season, which was @ Louisiana Tech. Then a hurricane postpones that game until later in the season, so their now their first game was v Florida. aggy media got to seeing that those 2 players were available to play, so one of them actually had the cojones to ask why they weren't suspended, and Rumlin's response was something along the lines of "I didn't suspend them for the first game, I suspended them for the La Tech game." Was a real canary in the mine shaft of the accountability Summy would hold his players to during his tenure.4 points
