  1. I was getting some work done on my car yesterday and the shop was a couple miles from Walnut so I took my bike with me and got in a couple hours of good riding. I forgot how fun some of those trails are when it’s not packed. Only saw 3 or 4 other bikes the whole time I was out there and maybe 4 or 5 hikers. And I did the Root Drop for the first time. Made me feel good after the Picnic drops I keep chickening out of on Brushy.
  2. Valentina's Real Deal Holyfield is the best goddamn taco in the universe. The ACP, only served as a special once a week, is the best lunch/dinner taco in the universe.
  3. Here’s my 2000 LX470. I would’ve liked to have an 80 series instead but I do way too much highway driving and the 100s are just way better on the road. The LX has the adjustable height suspension so I can lift and lower it a couple inches as needed. That will go out one day and I’ll replace it with conventional suspension with a 2” lift. But for now it rides smooth as butter. I have the 3rd row seats removed and a drawer system that forms a sleeping platform with the 2nd row seats folded down. Perfect simple car camping. No tent needed if there’s just two of us. The girlfriend likes it way better than a tent and I like the convenience of it. There’s a fridge in the back powered by a 100w solar panel on the roof when I’m not driving and by my alternator when I am. Steaks on camping trips, cold beer after every mountain bike ride, cold Gatorades for the kids after practices, etc... It runs 24/7 and I love never needing ice. I can pull the fridge and portable battery out at a campsite and put in a second air mattress for sleeping 2 or I can just sleep next to it when I’m solo. It’s 6 years older than my old Taco but so much nicer. I had all the seat leather reupholstered and it's getting a new stereo with wireless Apple Carplay next week. The gas mileage sucks but I love driving it. It’s my daily driver for the next 3 years until my younger son turns 16. It’ll go to him and I’ll finally by something newer for myself. Probably a 200 series Cruiser or a 4runner. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Hell yeah man. I love my Toyota products. I have a 2006 Taco and a 2000 LX470. I was broke as shit when I bought the Taco and it’s bare bones Pre-runner. It remains the only new car I’ve ever bought in my life. I’ve been driving it since ‘06. I’ll turn over 250,000 miles next time I cross town in it. Several sets of tires, a couple of batteries, a couple sets of brake pads, one set of new shocks, and one alternator is all that’s ever needed worked on. It’s literally never been in the shop for anything else. That 3 year old kid hanging out the back window turns 16 in two months and it will become his truck. He’s spent his whole childhood in it. It’s not 4wd but we’ve taken it on a tons of camping trips, dirt roads, down the beach, and on a lot of road trips to Colorado and New Mexico. It’s just been the best truck and the boy is excited it’s about to be his. Here it sits tonight: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Let talk videos: WD40 and others... how are you getting HD stuff onto Youtube? I film at 1080p, 60 FPS. I upload to iMovie to edit and it's crystal clear. I upload the edited version from iMovie to Youtube and it's pixelated. If I export the same iMovie to my hard drive it plays crystal clear. Upload it from the hard drive to Youtube and it's pixelated again. I've got my Youtube upload settings to Full Quality. Googling around and I'm learning about codecs AVC1 vs VP09 and the camera settings that would give playback quality of one vs the other. I'm thinking I need to increase the quality and slow down the frames per second. Maybe go 27k and 30 FPS?
  6. The modern geometry and 29" wheels will probably have that bike handling chunk better than the full suspension old school bike. That's just my anecdotal opinion. But if you like riding the old bike, there's nothing wrong with it at all. I was a better rider 20 years ago on a very similar old GT than I am now on a modern trail rig. I sold that bike about 10 years ago and wish I could buy it back today. It wouldn't handle like my bike now does but it could still rip around the neighborhood singletrack just fine. Canyon makes quality bikes, pretty cool of them to make something that affordable. Most manufacturers of their stature would turn their nose up at that idea.
  7. Texas Monthly has published a photo book with the photos from the FNL and 68 previously unseen images not in the original book I don’t need the new book but the images from the article are pretty good. https://www.texasmonthly.com/the-culture/riveting-new-photo-book-portraits-football-friday-night-lights/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Web+Social&utm_content=FridayNightLightsPhotos&fbclid=IwAR0AmPeLjO-8xFWVxxlKAeOs3DdxhZoxp1JXEWC948cPuXKAePlyebmoqT8
  8. The cans look like a pair of old apple mice.
  9. Look I’m pissed he isn’t coming but to act like this is going to set us back into mediocrity for years is silly. We’ve already been immersed in mediocrity for the last decade. There’s not far to fall when you already sucked.
  10. Sure is easy to throw the millions around on 2nd choice coaches when it’s not your money.
  11. A guy in my platoon took piss into another guys wall locker in the middle of the night in the barracks at Camp Fuji. He only learned about because he was awakened and promptly put back to sleep when the other guy beat the shit out of him.
  12. If he already said no why would he care about rumors and whatnot? If he’s not coming I can’t imagine why he would care who’s talking about it or feel the need to shut it down unless he was currently coaching some other team. He’s an announcer and his employer is probably loving the speculation. It’s bringing ratings. (But he’s coming.)
  13. Gameday talking about Herman’s hot seat right now.
  14. Nobody is saying it doesn’t suck royally for the rest of the team. It does suck. It’s not fair and it doesn’t need to be. And they all can and should blame him. And it’s not an isolated incident. Not even isolated in south Texas. 2 kids in San Antonio trucked a ref a couple years ago. Coach was involved in that one too. Those 2 kids plus this choad’s 2 separate episodes and it’s starting to add up.
  15. That Chuys/Hula Hut creamy jalapeño dip is easy to make. Recipe is easy to find online.
  16. Congrats on the solo XC. Nothing wrong with entering on the base if you’ve judged there’s plenty of room and you broadcast your intentions. It’s one of those things that might be the right thing to do one day and the wrong thing to do the next day. Total judgment call. On the traffic at an uncontrolled field, it’s just something you have to be alert for. It would’ve been better if he was broadcasting but in the end despite all the tools we have for separation it ultimately comes down to see and avoid as the final safety net.
  17. It sends a message to players and coaches everywhere to be looking for red flags that a player might be a psycho and to address attitude problems before they erupt into something like this. Nobody polices behavior better than your own peers after you fuck things up for them.
  18. Well it starts innocent enough with the Wooderson creeping on the girl with the red afro. But then the stoner guy who showed up to drink some beer and k
  19. Well it starts innocent enough with Wooderson creeping on the girl with the red afro while the rest of us climb the moontower. But then that macho motherfucker Clint shows up to drink some beer and kick some ass and everything goes downhill when the beer runs out. Next thing you know we’re all getting busted at a joint subcommittee meeting on the 50 yard line.
  20. Or it could have something to do with the fact he's a junior in the midst of getting beaten out by a freshman.
  21. I don’t think it matters in the big picture, but they’re not going to plan a whole new fuel stop to buy from their preferred FBO unless they were going to be there anyway. The fuel required for the approach and the extra takeoff and climb out would offset any savings they got from cheaper fuel.
  22. No need to. She’s already familiar.
  23. I’m about 15 pages behind. This shit happen yet?
