Just finished as well. Fak could never be seen again and it would not be noticed but guess being a producer means he'll be back. Just not a fan of whatever he is. What boss/partner would let Syd drag out the partner agreement? That's irritating IMO. I'm neutral with her but I do wish that her real struggle ( as mentioned previously here) would not be having to make a great choice. She should just tell Shapiro to wait until that timer strikes 0 and decision will be made. We need more kitchen chaos and working through real day to day shit that happens in a place like that. Means more Carmy losing his shit. The Ritchie/Carmy drama is too high school for me. What guys act like this? Especially those that have known each other for so long? Maybe Ritchie will get to bang the expo girl next season. Jimmy is awesome. Don't think we appreciate Platt's acting enough. Took me a minute but Josh Hartnett has aged....differently. I'm back to liking Bree Larsen. At least for now. Finally, this is Carmys show. I think we get away from that a bit. I get it for last season as he was filming The Iron Claw right? But focus needs to stay on him and have the support as needed. Still like the show. Not much out there that I enjoy and will see it through.

Teacher Crushed to Death on Beach A 66-year-old retired English teacher was killed when a bulldozer operator, allegedly under the influence of cocaine, ran over her while she collected seashells on an Italian beach on May 24. Elisa Spadavecchia was vacationing at Pinarella di Cervia with her ex-husband when the fatal incident occurred around 10 a.m. The bulldozer operator, 54-year-old Lerry Gnoli, was performing unauthorized construction work on the beach when he reversed the 15-ton tracked vehicle directly over Spadavecchia. Witnesses reported the bulldozer lacked warning lights and audible reversing alerts as it struck the unaware holidaymaker, crushing her to death almost instantly. Giovanni Sfregola, Spadavecchia’s ex-husband and a retired police officer, discovered her body using the Find My iPhone feature after she failed to return from her morning walk. Sfregola described being consumed by what he called an “ocean of pain” following the discovery. The scene was so disturbing that a lifeguard who witnessed the incident became ill and required hospitalization. Toxicological tests revealed Gnoli was positive for cocaine at the time of the accident, though investigators have not determined when he consumed the substance. During questioning on May 30, Gnoli stated he was reversing when he suddenly struck her, claiming he noticed immediately and heard screams from a lifeguard. The incident marked the second time Gnoli faced charges related to a fatal accident while under the influence of cocaine. In 2022, he received a two-and-a-half-year sentence for road homicide after killing an 83-year-old pedestrian in Pisignano while driving under the influence of the same substance. His driver’s license had been revoked following that conviction, though he was permitted to operate construction vehicles as long as he avoided public roads. More than a month after the beach tragedy, the Court of Ravenna issued a custodial remand order for Gnoli’s arrest. Carabinieri from Cervia-Milano Marittima, working with the local Coast Guard maritime office, carried out the arrest on charges of manslaughter and serious workplace safety violations. Investigations revealed Gnoli was conducting dune-leveling work using his own tracked vehicle, which lacked required license plates and visual and sound signaling devices mandated by law. Authorities determined the construction work was not authorized by the Municipality of Cervia, raising questions about who permitted or failed to supervise Gnoli’s activities. Spadavecchia had taught English at Liceo Scientifico Quadri in Vicenza before retiring several years before the COVID-19 pandemic. Colleagues remembered her with affection following news of her death. Anna Spata expressed sadness and recalled Spadavecchia with esteem, while Cinzia Zanesco noted she was enjoying her retirement phase with her young granddaughter. Elena Ruffato described colleagues as dismayed and speechless in the face of the tragedy. The couple had recently celebrated the birth of a grandson, who was less than three months old at the time of the accident. Sfregola indicated they were overjoyed about the new grandchild, making the loss even more devastating for the family. Spadavecchia’s funeral was held at the church of San Marco Evangelista in Creazzo, in the province of Vicenza, with the mayor of Cervia, Mattia Missiroli, attending the service. Gnoli’s criminal history extends beyond the 2022 road homicide conviction. In 2019, he was arrested for resisting a public official while under the influence of drugs and was found in possession of cocaine. His lawyer, Vittoria Manes, stated that Gnoli expressed being “terribly sorry” for the tragedy and sent condolences to Spadavecchia’s family, though he claimed authorization to perform the beach work. The Ravenna Prosecutor’s Office continues investigating the circumstances surrounding the unauthorized construction work. Authorities are examining potential liability of third parties who may have authorized or failed to supervise Gnoli’s activities on the beach. The case has raised concerns about construction site safety protocols and the supervision of heavy machinery operations in public areas frequented by tourists and residents. Gnoli was transferred to Ravenna prison pending trial proceedings. The investigation continues to focus on determining how an individual with a revoked license and previous homicide conviction was able to operate heavy construction equipment in an area where members of the public were present during peak beach season.

SIAP. 22 year old swept away in a vehicle with her family near Ingram. Survived for 20 miles downstream and found in a tree near Center Point. Went over 4 dams. Dodged RVs, refrigerators and god knows what else. No word on her family. Damn.

My feelings aren’t hurt. But I despise people like him. now, my wife’s feelings matter to me. Quite a bit. She works at a private school at Houston, and is in numerous teacher and parent chats. Do you think her feelings matter today? Does anyone’s, in a “news only” thread? Because she’s been a basket case and me calling out a gaping pussy when this thread gets too emotional for him to handle feels…just fine to me.

I'd like something from a more "official" or authoritative source that also includes people who weren't at Camp Mystic.

After Grenfel Tower I did some serious recalibration about how much I trust anyone's direction or advice in an emergency. Some of those people could have gotten out if they hadn't followed direction to shelter in place. After Uvalde and the story of the woman who was at one point handcuffed by the police, got them to remove the cuffs, then ran in and save her kids was another data point.

I’m so sorry for your friends. I recognize her from the pics that have shown up on a lot of news sites. She’s a cutie. RIP little one. I’ve been on the verge of tears all day and this pushed me over the edge.

There were no facts to report from the press conference, just fellating Dotard and each other, that was the point of her rant.

I get the Culinary Cowgirls Lone Star Queso pretty regularly. It's good, not a world beater, but i don't think I could roll my own for less and sometimes you just want some chips & queso now. I'd bet their other two offerings (including the one you asked about) are pretty decent.

I'd like to think Frank said."Ill come but this nickel and dime shit has to stop. Here are the players I want. Sign them"

Awful. I can't imagine they will find them all. A friend of mine lost his wife in a torrential river flood and they never found her body. She went into the Brazos at I-10 near Brookshire/Sealy. The sheriff told him she could be a few hundred yards away in the woods or a field, or she could be washed out into the Gulf. Said he'd seen it all when it came to the power of water. These poor families.

Movies you're ashamed to admit that you enjoy

I’m so glad Jessie did Showgirls. She probably thought she was taking a swing at a bigger career. Hollywood knew she was already washed, but let her swing away. We all benefited because we saw Jessie Spano’s goods. -
Just got the dreaded text. Doesn’t appear that my friend’s girl survived. I think they found her body.

Lake Travis up to 654' which means up about 16.5' since 8 AM yesterday. The gauges on Hamilton and Big Sandy creeks have been pegged at the exact same numbers for most of the day so I'd assume they're broken/non-functional. Still, Cow Creek has tracked up and down with the rains, and there's more coming in from the north, so I'd expect they'll continue to flow rapidly and be unsafe for the foreseeable future. And Lake Buchanan finally on the move, up 3' from 8 AM yesterday with the river still running around ~73K cfs above Colorado Bend.

Give me a sec, my mom and step-dad live on 190 west just out of town. Checking. This was in the AM coming in from Lometa but I'd hope it's clear by now.

So a couple things I've learned that I didn't know before are that 1) the river valleys in this particular part of Central Texas are among the most flood-prone in the country, and 2) they're full of quite a few kids' summer camps, many (most?) of which have been there for many decades, some up to 100 years. Those two facts in combination make it seem like the camps should be pretty well versed in flood risks. I'd expect quite a few near miss stories to be among the local lore. "Back in '88, the water came all the way up to the steps of the dining hall"...that type of thing.

EXACTLY. It is not partisan to note that a given politician performed poorly at his or her job. It’s not about policy or ideology. We’re talking about the basic blocking and tackling of state governance. And these fucking clowns went on stage and shit themselves on a live broadcast in front of God and Texas. Even fucking TexAgs saw it clearly for the distasteful brown nosing circus that it was, for Christ’s sake. But a handful of manbabies on the DT board can’t bear the embarrassment of their own sycophantic support for self-adulating narcissist windbags. Because they’re spoiled fail-children who have never had to face the consequences of any of their lifetimes of bumbling fuckups. For fuck’s sake. Grow up and learn to absorb uncomfortable ideas without crying to the board police like a giant fucking pussy.

Is that last tweet in response to her previous tweet?

They are favored but the line is pretty tight. Not sure what to expect. Like I said last game I'd put Adams at LB and bench Arfsten - but I'm guessing Poch keeps kicking the can down the road and hopes that we find enough offense to win or get it to penaltas.

Yeah you could see she was really pissed and had something to say as soon as they cut away from the presser. Good for her.

Heard last night about one through her cousin, who’s very good friends with my oldest. I know her parents and entire family. I cannot imagine what they’re going through. This is a nightmare.
