Threw the bones at WinStar yesterday.  Had a great time --- left +$370 after 4 sessions.  I started each session with $100, as I wanted to test out their new craps set up.  Didn't feel like making big bets like I do in Lake Charles.  Both NYNY tables were open at $5 min.  Tables on the opposite side (Rome??) were closed until late afternoon.  So if you go early, I think they open the NYNY tables first.  I bet pass line + place bets.  The $1 ante threw me off a little.  Constantly breaking a red for change was a little weird.  Anyway, once you get over the $1 ante bs, it's a nice experience there.  Tables are solid. Talent was abundant throughout the day.  I'll go back next weekend to throw the bones again.

I’ve always pressed after three rakes or I go positive. I always bet the roller, and only play after watching all the tables. Used to smoke a cigar and do the recon. Played a lot in Europe which was a little weird, but the table was happy to have you.

Had a great roll at Harrah’s NOLA last night. Cashed in $300 left with $1040 (tax time holllla)

Hit probably 5-6 points and was playing double odds. Place bets across the board. I didn’t press early and often enough to really make a shit ton but I decided to lock in some winnings because it was so early in the night.

Ended up hitting all three bonus bets up top, and on the last number to hit (2) I hopped it with $5 and hit it. Made something like $660 on that single roll.

Negged.

why the fuck does it matter to you how another player bets?

If your point is 8, shouldn’t you be equally offended by anyone betting the 4, the 9, or any number besides the 8? They are damned sure doubting your ability to hit your point...  that is, if you fucking think that way.

A big part of craps to me is the fun atmosphere and camaraderie of the table playing together.  The old man in the corner position betting against everybody else is a hater, a Debbie downer, and worthy of contempt.

One of my best friends mostly will play the dark side. So when I’m standing next to him at the table and he wins, he will do a quiet and inconspicuous fist bump so as to not irritate others at the table. I haven’t spent tons of time at the craps table, but I don’t remember seeing too many don’t players who loudly celebrate winning. I’m sure they are out there.

Interesting. I wonder does he have any other personality quirks? Does he complain about food often? Ask to speak to the manager?

If I had to bet, I’d think a large proportion of don’t pass betters are shitty tippers.

If you bet on the don’t pass line you are rooting against the shooter and 95% of the other craps players I’ve seen.

Incorrect, sir.

The don't bettor is wagering that a seven comes before the point.

Their bet has zero to do with the shooter's bet.  The shooter can absolutely choose to shoot with a don't pass line bet.

Do you hang out in sports books and rip people who bet the favored teams?

Don't be willfully obtuse (I say that with love). 95% of craps players are betting that the point comes before the seven, so they're rooting against the seven. If you are betting that the seven comes first, then you win when 95% of the table loses. I don't know what you consider "rooting", but you're just using semantics to hide behind.

It's not my problem that "you people"' cannot get past this mental block.

1. I play from the don'ts about 90% of the time. Through the years, and by that, I mean a crapton more dice games than most folks on here added together; I have had very few run-ins at the table because of my play. yes there are the idiots who walk up and start in on my bets.  i ignore them at first.  Then I might crack a joke, applaud a good run of numbers, or whatever.  I have a good time at the dice tables, and yes, it is with right way bettors while I am betting the don'ts.

2. There's only one fucking number i don't want after the shooter establishes his point.  I celebrate good runs on other numbers right along with the other players.  I have seen the all-tall-small or 'fire' bet hit without the point repeating.  Then the 7 comes and we all got paid on that hand of dice.  So many times, once the point is established, a parade of non-point numbers will just flood in.  I'm cheering with the motherfuckers.  I want everyone to have fun and get paid.  My bet has ZERO effect on their play or the dice.

3. There are no "player vs player" bets at the craps table in casinos.  I am hiding behind no semantics or anything else.  I am not betting against the shooter.  i am betting that a seven comes before the point.  All other numbers( and bets) are irrelevant and unrelated to my game.

4. I also cannot remember the last trip to a casino when the whole table wasn't betting from the dark side during at least one session.  Who am i betting against at that point?

Whatever your fucking mental problems are, don't matter to me.   leave me the fuck alone with regard to my bets.   I damned sure will do the same.   However, if you ARE there for fun and DO actually love the game of craps, I'd wager we will both have a good time at the tables.  It happens constantly.

I can't help the uptight dipshits who can't get past the 'semantics' in their heads.

Im with slorch on this, had a great night at Harrahs on the 30th betting the pass line, the following night was brutal, switched to the darkside and made a little money. Samething after the sugar bowl, bet dark and walked out with a few grand.

We've all been at tables that go cold and everyone is crapping out left and right, if I'm going to continue to play why keep losing money on a bad bet. Im not rooting against other players, Im rooting the dice to be in my favor. Dont like, leave the table

Skill in poker. BJ** and Craps are losing games where you’re just playing to have a good time and drink. Both have strategies which merely serve to slow the losses.

**excluding counting cards which is certainly a skill and should yield net winning results, but will also get you kicked from the casino for life.

Would you like 100 smaller taps to your junk, or one swift kick? Choose skillfully!

Ha! I would compare it more to playing blackjack without counting. You can either randomly click buttons or play perfect basic strat. Both ways you lose long term sure. But one you will lose a LOT more. Also it is much easier to win short term if you are facing a 2% house edge vs 10%+.

I absolutely know it to be true.

No mental gymnastics required.

One other thing, if my bets impacted the outcome of the game; I most assuredly would have more than $50-75 out there on the table.

i never said your bets impacted anything.

you're saying you're not betting against the shooter, which isn't true.  99% of shooters are playing the pass line.  you're playing the don't.  i've played a few games of craps as well.  like i said, i agree with most of what you said, and i've seen you defend yourself plenty of times.  you're 100% betting against the shooter.  you're rooting against his primary bet.

if i bet on the chiefs, i'm betting against people who bet on the patriots.

trolling is fun, but come on.

Semantics and mental gymnastics on your perception.

There is no player vs player bet in casino craps.

I am betting that a 7 comes before the point.  If the shooter has a point of  8 and places the 9 and hits it 80 times before sevening out, we both make money.

That’s extreme example, but it is very common for both sides to make money on a given hand of dice

I am not betting against the shooter.

Thanks.

And yes, there is the card-counting caveat but counting cards to any profitable degree has gotten to be almost impossible from what I can gather.

Betting schedule:

5/9 - 5-15-35 (full collect) - 85-100-150 - 350 (full) - 500 and so on.

6/8 - 6-12-30 (full collect) - 60 (full) - 120 - 300 (full) - 600 and so on.

Going to Vegas next weekend and want to try this out. I'm confused about the above schedule. Take the 6-12-30. How do you get to 30? Wouldn't a 6/8 hit with $12 down pay out $14. putting you at $26?

Or the 5-15-35 on 5/9 - how are you getting to $15? Wouldn't the first hit pay $7, putting you at $12?

Lay off Slorch you guys. Wgaf how he bets? I've talked shit to dark side bettors, and they usually talk it right back to me. If I'm up, I'll buy em a drink, no hard feelings. If they get defensive, I'll bey em a drink, let it go, and ignore them.

Here's a stupid girlfriend story to amuse y'all: The first time she was at a craps table, she watched me play, made some bets, the dice went all the way around the table, then eventually to her. She at first didn't want to throw, but the table all encouraged her so she relented. On her first throw, she threw both dice off the table. I was next to the stick man, she was on the other side of me. Stickman leaned over to me and said in a low voice "I've been dealing for 15 years, and that's the first time I've ever seen both dice go off the table." On her next roll, the people at the other end of the table were yelling "cover your eyes!" and "Duck!" Iirc, she had some beginner's luck and made a few points.

Your math is correct, but you then buy up to get to $15 and $30. Your dealer will usually ask you to throw him what he needs to take it up and make it proper.

it's all good, but thank you for the kind words.

i've shared openly how I play and it really requires no endorsement from anyone else.  My posts say i love the game and love sharing that knowledge/ experience with others. I've particpated as much as anyone on TOS and this thread with regard to helping noobs understand the game.

If people want to relish their hate, hey, whatever gets you through the night.  The dice are gonna do what the dice are gonna do.

That's the beauty of the game.

I have a 1.5 hour layover in Vegas tomorrow.  I know they don't have craps at the airport, but I hear the slots there are the best odds in town, right?  Any tips on how to make the most of my time there?  Looking forward to fattening my wallet before I continue on to Salt Lake City.

Got it

yeah, the reason the system "works" (if it works) is because the bets get higher a lot quicker than normal pressing.  you're "power-pressing" which often skips a level.  some people press one unit (6-12-18) while others do a full press (6-12-24), but this will skip levels and require some help from you.  add $3 to make it $15 and add $4 to make it $30.  like lurch said, the dealer will help you out.  when you hit $30 (after a full collect), the next level is $60, and you get $5 back.

i always suggest finding a spot near the dealer.  it doesn't take long to develop a rapport, and you'll catch on quickly (as will he) and pretty soon the dropping of chips (or collecting) will go on without saying a word.

i recommend using phrases like, "take me to $15" or "make it look like $30" and he'll instantly say, "drop me four bucks" or something similar.  as long as you keep the table moving, you're in good shape.
