It was well-known that an executive search firm was retained and Strong was one of their recommendations.  It wasn't a BMD spasm, or different groups doing different things and power-playing their choices.

Any chance Red Zone Failures can be part of the opening act? Maybe a short set, even if they don't really deliver?

Not gossipy or drama queen-y enough.

It has been known for almost a year he was looking. I pointed that out on surly probably more than 9 months ago, and several posters couldn’t fathom him wanting to leave and thought the rumor was bs.

Since the rumor mill is flying, let’s clarify one rumor that was somewhat right but not quite. The rumor about Jerry Jones wanting to hire him was before he selected Schotty. Why the process broke down with Sark is unclear. Whether that’s why Sark missed time in January including Junior Day is also unclear. But it’s sounding like he found plan B. Jets? Don’t know.

I don't think a lot of people here are going to be too broken up if he decides to leave.

I don't hate him, and I think he deserves a lot of credit for what he's accomplished. Sark in 2025 is much worse than previous versions, so I'm inclined to agree with @Nicole44 that something is up.

The reason I would be upset to see him leave is because it's a terrible hiring market. There is no permanent fix available, and even if that coach were on the market, we'd be in a bidding war with at least two other bluebloods. It's a terrible time to be looking for a new head coach. I'd rather ride out the storm.

I'm not apologizing if he goes to the NFL. I should have said that. Only if he gets fired for . . . stuff.

For the record I don’t want an apology. I don’t need one. People should feel how they want to feel. I wish I didn’t know shit is all. If shit goes down it will be a fucking mess if it’s not done delicately. And I wish none of this shit were real.. period.

Put another way: for the sark defenders if Sark and UT were to part ways what would be an acceptable enough reason for some of you?

Not sure I'm a defender, per se.

First, I think he's got next year, at least, to correct course.  So we probably ought to get used to that.

Second, I think he "deserves" that opportunity and may well seize it.

If he were farther along in his contract, and his tenure, year six or seven, and more than a year removed from some pretty good seasons, I'd think this season might possibly be fire-worthy.

I have a hard time conjuring fictional scenarios that might justify his firing for cause.  I mean, I could just go wild on ketamine-fueled monkey orgies with Jeff Banks and Pole Assassin.  Or a domestic violence situation. Who fucking knows.  To some extent, I think personal issues that are legal and don't involve his moral turpitude should be mostly off-limits as "cause" for termination until the connection between personal issues and work performance becomes irrefutable and not a matter of wild-ass internet speculation.

It's also part of my personality or constitution that I try not to overreact to adverse events.

Not if you get fired for cause, and that cause prevents you from getting another job anytime soon.

Wrong. Nice try. And if you are comparing a coach who just has the #1 recruiting class and went to back to back playoffs to Strong you are legitimate retarded.  Carry on. Some of you are ridiculous. FFS.

Yall definitely deserve Strong as your coach. Yall better hope if Sark does leave we do not F.... up the hire.

I would say a more accurate description is that he may already have one foot out the door. Whether you would be opposed to that is to each his (or Nicole's) own.

Also, it's been a really weird year man. A whole ton of shit has happened that isn't normal at all for a healthy program, much less one that we thought was elite three months ago. Going 0-5 against the actual elite teams on our schedule hasn't helped either.

I disagree that it's only this year. The penalty situation wasn't ideal last year, either. The red zone issues, the headscratcher playcalls, none of that is unique to this season.
