lol this shit is hilarious I can’t believe people pay money to watch this

how was Haney the betting favorite? He’s getting bailed out by the ref and holding on for dear life and his only offense is slapping Garcia ass like a child lmao

I knew Devin had no power and a weak chin, but he's usually a fairly smart boxer.  It seems like he did absolutely zero work on keeping his right hand up and not getting tagged with that Garcia left hook.  Which is literally the only punch that kid has.  Just baffling.  Garcia can't box for shit.  Stay away from him and move away from that left hand.  Instead Devin just hung out right in front of him.

I do know that Devin has been benefitting from weight bullying his entire career.  Now for the first time he wasn't in there versus a smaller guy and he got lit the fuck up.

Harvey Dock was so bad reffing that fight I honestly think he might have had money on Devin.  Charges Garcia a point for hitting on the break and yet seems completely unbothered by Haney hugging Garcia for dear life half the fight.  In fact, after one knockdown Dock literally picked Devin up off the canvas!  After them robbing that Irish fella earlier in the evening, there was some definite fuckery going on.

no doubt, he was terrible - specifically in the 7th (i think ) round which you referenced.

also, while i was disappointed when it was announced because it feels like canelo is ducking david benavidez, i'm starting to get excited for the canelo/munguia fight coming up in a couple of weeks.  feels like it could be a war between two hard hitting motherfuckers.

Quote

Star boxer Ryan Garcia tested positive for the performance-enhancing substance Ostarine the day before and the day of his upset win over Devin Haney last month, per a Voluntary Anti-Doping Association letter sent to all parties Wednesday and obtained by ESPN.

The samples were taken prior to the fight, but the results weren't known until later.

Garcia has 10 days to request that his B-sample be tested. Garcia's A-sample also screened positive for 19-Norandrosterone, but its presence is unconfirmed at this time.

"Everybody knows that I don't cheat," Garcia said in a video posted on X. "... Never taken a steroid ... I don't even know where to get steroids. ... I barely take supplements. Big lies, I beat his ass."

You ready for Canelo/Mungiua tonight? This weather makes it so hard to stay up late for the main event when I’m already tired and it hasn’t even started.

Went about the way I expected.  Munguia is a tough kid, but he doesn't have elite level skills.  It's hurt his development that he just hasn't faced any real competition over his 43 fights.  Derevyanchenko was his toughest opponent I think and it took a 12 round KD to win that for Munguia.

I still think Benevidez gives Canelo all sorts of problems.  And I think Canelo thinks that too, which is why he's avoiding them.  Hopefully Canelo nuts up and fights him or drops the belts at Super Middle.

I think so, and I hate that Canelo is getting so much flack, because honestly I don't blame him. Benavidez is a tall, lanky mfer that throws faster than Bivol (although I don't know exactly how he's going to fare in 175). If Benavidez can still make 168, I don't see Canelo being the favorite in that one.

As far as the fight last night, it also went exactly how I thought. Canelo has seen "Mexican style" his whole life, and started out his career fighting that way, I didn't think there was any situation where Munguia was going to beat Canelo fighting that way. Around round 6 or 7 I also started to notice that Canelo wasn't terribly interested in getting him out of there. He had him hurt a good 4-5 times (including the knockdown obviously), and he never really put his foot on the gas to finish it. A few times Munguia was hurt and didn't even have enough in himself to throw flurries to try to answer and keep Canelo off of him, but Canelo seemed completely intent on letting it stay slow and letting Munguia clinch and survive. This script was exactly the same as the Fielding, Plant, Saunders fights. Feel them out for 2 rounds, let them throw whatever they want, start to counter, and basically just take whatever power shots they give him. But I haven't seen his foot on the gas much since GGG Part 3, mayyybe a bit in Saunders fight.

just watched the replay of the Inoue/Nery fight from very early this morning.  What a fucking monster Inoue is.  Just a joy to watch.  Would love to see him move up and fight Navarrete at 126 or 130.  That would be an all out war.

His power has to run out at some point, right?  Right?

Dude is by far the P4P#1.  Just scary what he does to top tier guys.  Then he moves up a division and does it to the best guys there.  Then he moves up and. . .

Intrigued by Fury v Usyk mainly because of the size difference. Usyk is a beast of a fighter and took out a damn good much bigger fighter in Joshua twice but how does he do with Fury?

Should be a really interesting contrast in style. Less than the size I think the work rate is the thing to watch. Usyk is just so active. I’d love for him to win this but I think he likely will get caught with a heavy hand at some point.

Read an ESPN article that said Usyk is the same height and weight that George Foreman was when he fought Ali. Amazing how much bigger and generally more plodding heavyweights are today.

Foreman was pretty plodding from all the fights I’ve watched. Your point remains true though.

Fury has spent his entire career fighting middling plodders.  Just big, slow guys who hit hard.  He's never seen anyone the skill level of Usyk.  Usyk is a killer.  He's never been knocked down in his pro career and he just opens the throttle up and wears these heavyweights down.  Man went 24 rounds with a much harder puncher in AJ and was never seriously hurt or in trouble in either of those fights.

If this was just a straight up boxing match it would be Usyk and it wouldn't even be close.  However, they've got the ref from Pacquiao v. Horn who let Horn throw elbows all sorts of other shit.  Fury loves his dirty boxing.  Plus, it's fairly clear the Saudis want Fury v. AJ.  So I imagine Fury is going to get worked, but he'll dirty this shit up to make the rounds close and get a robbery on the cards.  Hope I'm wrong and it's a clean fight with a clear winner.

Great fucking fight.

Fury actually impressed me with how much damage he was able to put on Usyk and slow him down.  The Ukrainian just isn't to be fucked with, though.  Dude keeps the throttle wide open on you the entire fight and these big heavyweights just wilt.  Honestly, the fight could have been stopped.  Ropes kept Fury up.  I've always said Usyk doesn't get credit for how hard he can punch.  He just chooses not to risk sitting down on shit.  He waits until you get exhausted and then he'll put it on ya.

Usyk has to go down as one of the all-time greats.  Olympic gold, 335 amateur wins, Undisputed Cruiser champ, and now Undisputed Heavyweight champ after beating guys twice his fucking size.  He's a phenom.

Oh, and Fury is a bitch for complaining about the decision afterwards.  Usyk clearly won that fight even though Fury took some rounds in the middle.  Show some class you gypsy fuck.

Idk what fight you watched. That was a draw at best. Split decision for usyk was stupid and that first scorecard was fucking absurd.

Yeah, you're wildly off base here.

They actually implemented AI fight tracking in this fight.  System works really well.  Can tell the difference between a jab and a power shot.  It can tell if a punch gets blocked.  It's, quite frankly, amazing.  Has Usyk winning by much wider than what we got on the scorecards.

If you just want to go by CompuBox numbers, well, Usyk won there, too.

Plus, one guy was past queer street into Willy Wonka's Wonderland at one point and was only saved by the ref getting in the aggressor's way and then the round ending after getting a standing 8 count.  That guy wasn't Usyk.

First three rounds were close, Fury took the next three, and then Usyk (as he always does) took the back half of the fight while also knocking Fury silly.  Definitely deserved the win.

Hopefully I can watch when I get home. Sounds like it was fun

It's going to go down as a classic.  One of the best HW title fights I've seen.  Both guys performed well and had each other hurt.  Crazy that a fight this hyped up and for all these belts actually lived up to the expectations.  Boxing got a huge win with this fight.

sounds like they're going to do a rematch on october 12th.

i was drinking, watching the baseball team and the preakness during a lot of the fight.  plus my stream wasn't super reliable.  i need to watch it sober and focused before i give an opinion, but right now i'm on the "in a close fight, the guy who nearly ko'ed the other guy gets the decision" camp.

Re-watched the fight today just to score it and it was wider in Usyk's favor than the official scorecards.

Rounds 1-3 were Usyk by a mile.  I think Fury's showboating might have influenced some people, but Usyk was working him in all these rounds.  Also, Usyk was blocking a lot of shots with his gloves/forearms.

Rounds 4-6 were Fury by a mile.  Fury got into a rhythm and he couldn't miss with his right hand.  The looping right body shot and the right uppercut were killing Usyk every time he tried to close the distance.  Fury really hurt Usyk in the 6th round.  The most I've ever seen Usyk hurt.  Still, Usyk took it well and kept coming forward.

Round 7 was close, but Usyk blocked a lot of shots and he finished the round strong.  Still, could go either way.  You can see Fury start to slow down in the back half of this round.

Round 8 Usyk got back on the gas and he really works Fury here.  Usyk breaks Fury's nose in this round and it was a big turning point in the fight.  Fury keeps pawing at it and he never got back on track in the entire fight after it happened.

Round 9 was the blowout.  Ref really saved Fury's ass.  Should have been waved off or the ref should have jumped in much earlier and gave Fury a standing 8 count.  If that had happened, Usyk would have finished him before the round was up.  Fury has never been that hurt before in his entire career.  Even when Wilder floored him in the 12th of their first fight he was clear eyed.  He had zero control of his body here.  One more shot and he would have been through the ropes.

Rounds 10-11 were all Usyk.  Usyk was gassed from trying to finish Fury the previous round so not much happened in the 10th, but he still landed some solid shots on Fury.  11th was more of the same, but with Usyk landing even more.

Round 12 is the one I have a problem with.  All three judges gave this round to Fury.  I don't really know why.  He lands one big hard right hook on Usyk in the round, but that was it.  Usyk lands several solid shots.  It was a swing round at best.  I think this was home cooking for the A-side so the fight seemed closer than it really was.

So seven rounds to Usyk plus the knockdown.  Give Fury the three rounds he absolutely deserved plus the two close rounds (7, 12).  115-112 Usyk.

Pretty typical Usyk fight, IMO.  He started fast, kept the pressure up, and was highly accurate with his shots.  Once the bigger man got tired, Usyk went into an even higher gear and started doing real damage and cruised to a win.  I just think Fury's size and reach slowed him down a bit since he was having to work so much harder to get inside and land his shots.  The most surprising thing to me was how well Fury did.  He actually hurt Usyk at one point and took that little stretch in the middle with some great boxing.  I thought after the Ngannou debacle he was finished, but he got himself together, showed up in shape, and put on a good fight.
