Arch Manning: Doing his best JAG impression to fool scouts

No he wasn’t. Stahp

Yes, he was. GG made bad decisions (under duress). Manning is making bad decisions and VERY bad throws. He's missing the easy read and he's throwing at the feet of open receivers. He looks like he has a rotator cuff / impingement issue...

This is currently very bad QB play. He should be in a position battle.

Convince yourself this is better execution than Swoopes, then tell me you're convinced and how you got there.

I still think something is broken. Arch has a very inconsistent throwing motion. Maybe he always has and I just haven't see enough of him. I don't know if he's watching Mahommes and trying to emulate that, but every pass looks different and so many passes are thrown late and low.

When he sets his feet and throws the way he's been trained, you can tell. The rest are random as hell and off target.

Something is... Off.

I wish I knew him so I could talk to him.

We're being funny, but two 5* QBs..

Quinn played injured, so I'll let it ride.

I dint think Sark is coaching Arch to look like this... Hell, I am certain nobody in his circle will say this is what he is, but it's what he is right now.

I mean Vince's mechanics were never 5 yards off, but it was horrible for sure, we need to change the offense just like we did back then.

Changing the offense for Arch isn't going to fix his problems. We had to simplify and identify the things Vince executed well. Arch can't execute anything consistently. Vince could throw a screen. Arch can't.

11-25 (44%) for 114 yards against UTEP. And it seemed worse than that if you watched it.

I hope Arch figures it out and becomes the man (and I don't think that's a long shot to happen) but you're delusional if you think any of our other QBs don't crush that stat line today.

This. I expected the late cross-body throws over the middle for INTs. But from a clean pocket, the high, behind, and off the turf throws - no.

To coin a phrase - he is very self-defecating.

I pointed out last week how eerily similar Arch's second game as a RS So was, and VY's second game as a RS So.

Folks need to chill the fuck out. Our OL, WR corps, and QB are all basically new this year. They need game time snaps to figure things out.

There was this assumption that because he was a Manning, he'd sprout fully formed from Cooper's skull in full QB gear, ready to be the God of Football. That wasn't the case for any QB, Manning or otherwise. He still has to learn the game like everyone else does.

Nah. VY never looked this bad PASSING the ball. Ever.

And people said VY could not pass, read defenses, etc.

Watching VY in HS (4 games as Sr) I said, "we will win a nation championship if we get him."

Watching Arch in HS (2 games) I said, "He'll probably be a better pro than college QB."

He doea not have to be VY or Colt to win. I would fight people to have healthy David Ash right now. (Ash was a baller.)

After that game I made a famous post on HF calling out the usual haters for their chicken little bulshit, telling them to get lost until the season was over, ended up winning 19 straight after that and scoring 50+ ppg the season later.

Why they said that had nothing to do with his play. You should know that.

Vince's strength was obvious (running around and over anyone) and zone read immediately simplified and leveraged his advantages. Coaches need to find something similar that Arch is good at and simplify the offense to be just that (look for one thing and do A or B based on that one decision). Other options can be added once the basic play is mastered.

Mississippi State was horrifically bad last year.  2-10.  They lost to Toledo at home.  They lost their QB and had some other significant injuries.  UTEP and San Jose would both probably beat last years Bulldog team.  Beating them at home was not a good benchmark.

Arch doesn't do anything that well. That's the problem. His legs aren't at a high enough level to make up for absolutely atrocious passing. The solution is either for Arch to become a better player or for us to move on. There is no fixing it with scheme. He just has to play better. I'm starting to doubt that he can. Again, fucking UTEP.

Fair but Arch wasn't missing receivers left and right sometimes by a matter of yards over and over and over again

I do, but I play this role every day.

If VY played like Arch in 3 straight, he would have been a Safety (where Mack originally wanted him) and we would have ridden with All American Chance Mock.

Vince never did that though. That's kinda the point. Arch is playing unprecedentedly bad football for Texas.

Sark can help him but he is going to have to do a little hand holding. Give him some stationary stuff. Give him some comebacks. Those are throws that even if they are off, the receiver can adjust to. Right now we are just letting him dangle. Sark can do it we watched him do that very thing with Jake Locker. He just needs to blow the dust off those old pages.

But the problem is Arch is missing WIDE OPEN receivers. That's not a scheme challenge. Sark is scheming WRs and TEs open.

*Maybe* Arch is struggling processing the offense and finding the open receiver on time (this the late throws) but why is he throwing at their feet? Is the mental processing constraining him physically? Could be.

Does Sark have to switch to a 2-read?

Guess what, we've seen some 2-read... Ball in the ground.

Any of y'all know Arch?

go pay Eric Morris whatever he wants for a title change from G5 head coach for P4 quarterbacks coach or whatever then hell he wants to be called.
if he can take a HS punter (guy that hadn’t played QB since middle school) to this, even at G5, I’d be willing to give him a shot with arch

He had 4 completions at HALFTIME, through 2 full quarters against UT fucking El Paso. Oh and he had a pick. UNACCEPTABLE. That is truly fucking pathetic. I bet any amount of money, @Thatguy couldve thrown 4 completions by halftime. This is insane.

I want to take this moment in time to give you a true apology. I absolutely dogged you for saying Ewers was better than Arch last year. You were right, I was wrong. Arch was not it. Ewers would have this team undefeated and on the way to a national title. I have never been more wrong about anything in my life.

Priceless...

Why would a WR even give a shit. They could get 10 yards of separation and stand stationary and Arch would throw it 3 yards to their left at their shoelaces.

Today, even the comeback and easy throws in the flat were bad. Sark tried this in 2H, then went back to runs.

I think Arch hit two easies in 2h, but I'd need to re-watch (preferably all 22)

At no point did Vince ever suck. He wasn't perfect. But we never saw anything like this putrid performance.

Tons of people wanted to bench VY early that year, worried that he'd never get it, worried that he sucked. That said VY was never as bad as Arch was today.

Not true. I thought the WRs couldn't get open against OSU... More or less they were not.

That was not the case this week or last.

Read this and then do some thinking...

Arch Manning had a better passing game against Ohio State in week 1 than he did in week 3 against UTEP.

I don't know the play calls, but I've seen some ball and talked to some players (from 10 year olds to Vince Young and a couple other NFL players).

DJ Lagway is playing worse right now, so there's that.

Don't forget Mark Murdock, Donnie Little, Donovan Forbes, Rob Moerschell, Randy McEachern, Mike Cordaro, Mark McBath, Jon Aune, Eddie Phillips, Danny Akers, etc., who also would get the hook, and many did get the hook.

Donnie Little got moved from starting-QB to WR, Rob Moerschell got moved to holder full-time for Jeff Ward, etc.
