And now the next phase of military occupation is set. Yes, Texas has agreed to mobilize the NG in our cities.

National Guard troops in at least seven states will begin a federally funded mission within the next couple weeks to help Immigration and Customs Enforcement manage its swelling population of detained migrants. The Defense Department in late July called upon 20 states to provide up to 1,700 Guard troops collectively to work within that state on case management, logistic support and clerical work to help with ICE’s growing detention operations. The troops would remain under the command of the governor. The mission was initially intended for Marines and Reserve personnel but the Pentagon pulled back on that effort because the work involved close contact with detained migrants. The law allows Guard members to have that contact if they are on a state-run mission. Close contact could include personal data collection, fingerprinting, DNA swabbing, photographing people in ICE custody, and adding biographical and detention data into government systems, according to the Pentagon. The Department of Homeland Security requested military support as part of President Donald Trump’s crackdown on people in the United States without authorization to be in the country. It has led to an increase in arrests and people being held in detention facilities. More than 59,000 are now held in detention by ICE — a record number, according to Trac Reports, which compiles statistics from Homeland Security. While the Trump administration has said it is targeting people with criminal records, Trac Reports found about 70% of detainees do not have past convictions. As of Friday, many of the selected states, all of which have a Republican governor, were in various stages of implementing orders while others had not received a request from ICE to use troops. Of those who responded to questions, most states are providing less than 100 troops for less than three months.

I need clarification from @DaggerHorns as to whether these last two qualify as "in school" or not.

Hey little buddy! Good to see you’re still thinking about me and value my opinion. This is from April so try to keep up with “current” events.

This will also be helpful for you:

The agents were denied entry after school staff refused to allow access without a warrant.”

I can’t tell from your reply if the attempt by ICE agents disturbs you or not. Also,<Homer “so far” meme.>

It does disturb me. I’ve never once exhibited support of ICE. I’ve only broken down facts but people here want so badly for others to support ICE so they can argue maybe? Weird but hey, this is the internet…

The glacial pace of the courts is rage inducing.

A federal judge on Tuesday blocked the Trump administration from deploying the National Guard in California to fight crime.

San Francisco-based U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer issued the order for the U.S. District Court California Northern District, according to a court filing.

Militarizing the courts. Fuck you traitors to democratic rule.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has approved sending up to 600 military lawyers to the Justice Department to serve as temporary immigration judges, according to a memo reviewed by The Associated Press.

The military will begin sending groups of 150 attorneys — both military and civilians — to the Justice Department “as soon as practicable,” and the military services should have the first round of people identified by next week, according to the Aug. 27 memo.

The effort comes as the Trump administration more regularly turns to the military as it cracks down on illegal immigration through ramped-up arrests and deportations. Its growing role in the push includes troops patrolling the U.S.-Mexico border, National Guard members being sent into U.S. cities to support immigration enforcement efforts, housing people awaiting deportation on military bases and using military aircraft to carry out deportations.

What could go wrong?

Quote

Stephen Miller has a powerful new tool to help fulfill his goal of carrying out the largest mass deportation in U.S. history: his very own police force.

Miller, senior adviser to Donald Trump and the architect of many of the president’s most hardline immigration proposals, has been handed his very own law enforcement team with the establishment of a United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) police force.

The Wall Street Journal reported that USCIS, which processes applications for citizenship, visas, and green cards, will train hundreds of armed federal agents to spot fraud in immigration applications and arrest both the applicants and the lawyers who helped them prepare their petitions.

“USCIS law enforcement authorities and newly minted USCIS 1811 classified officers (commonly known as special agents) are now empowered to investigate, arrest, and present for prosecution those who violate America’s immigration laws,” said the DHS in a statement on Thursday.

Until now, USCIS operated separately from law enforcement so that immigrants would feel safe submitting to the application process. If there was a suspected case of fraud, USCIS would flag it and pass it on to ICE.

In July, Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” granted ICE a budget of $30 billion as part of Trump and Miller’s plan to deport 1 million undocumented immigrants each year.

Joseph Edlow, a lawyer and USCIS’ newly appointed director, told the Journal that the move to create a police force is necessary because, historically, ICE has been unable to track down every lead given to them by USCIS.

Edlow also downplayed concerns that arming USCIS would “chill” immigration to the United States in an interview with the Journal.

“I’m not expecting this to have a chilling effect on applications,” Edlow said. “I’m expecting this to have a chilling effect on fraudulent applications, and that’s what I want.”

Immigrant advocates disagree. Doug Rand, a USCIS senior advisor during the Biden administration, described the police force as “totally unnecessary,” telling the Journal, “It’s a solution in search of a problem.”

Nicole Melaku, executive director of the National Partnership for New Americans, told NBC News, “This shift in allowing armed agents and having a whole new enforcement apparatus connected to USCIS is deeply alarming.”

“The desire here is to intimidate people away from accessing the process and instilling fear and mistrust in an agency that has been traditionally tasked with being seen as a public good,” she added.

Maybe they can start by investigating the fraudulent applications for a certain South African billionaire and a certain Czech hooker golddigger fashion model.
