As I have mentioned in the past, the front office and owner basically thought he was a selfish pussy who cared way more about his big payday than he did about the team or winning. They’re not wrong.

the move was made and we came out ahead, so far

Maybe if he'd have ever had a meaningful hit in an Astros uniform in all the different playoff games he got to play in I'd give half a shit. But he didn't and I don't.

He had a .874 OPS with 4 HR in 16 postseason games in 2021 (pennant-winning team). That wasn’t all meaningless.

Give me Wrigley as my favorite concessions. You can get a polish sausage and an Old Style.

That said, the seats are pretty tight. People in 1914 were in a word a lot smaller we are now.

I have two seats from the Dome in my man cave.

People in 1965 were also a lot smaller than we are now

Hate to hear that

i know you’re more of an insider than most so I’ll actually take that without a grain of salt unlike all of the other speculative posts I’ve read.

oh well. Onward and upward.

we got a good haul and not our problem anymore

they'd be guilty of malpractice if they didn't do this imo. we've lost Arrighetti until after the ASB and both Wesneski and now Ronel to TJ surgery, the setback to Luis Garcia and who even knows with France and Javier....I think it's safe to say we were never counting on anything from LMJ but maybe we'd get lucky and be able to chalk him up to "found gold" so the idea of him starting this week on four days rest would be a lunatic's invitation to a game of chicken with the baseball gods.

I'm relieved to see this news. Lance needs as much rest as we can give him because it's looking like we're going to have to count on him after all.

Not so far. Forever. He has 1 year of control. Paredes has 3 and smith and Wesneski have 6 each. We can’t fucking possibly lose that trade.

Did we win a World Series? No!  All bullshit.

After all the wailing and gnashing of teeth we wake up on June 7th and the Astros are in first place by 2.5 games with the third best record in the AL at 35-28.

Start of play on 6/7/24 we were 28-35 in third place, 7.5 games out.

certainly better than last year's start and plenty to be optimistic about, but I'm skeptical that our pitching holds up at this level of excellence given the grind of a long season and our offense is just middling at best and getting career performances from Pena and Meyers.

Saw Caratini coming out of a coffee shop about an hour ago and I just fist bumped McCullers as I was walking to Rock N Roll HOF.

Don't blame me if he becomes injured

To be fair, pretty much every WS champion I’ve ever seen has had a couple of average players with their career best season.

everyone is short handed on pitching. the astros clubhouse has the next man up mentality, winners win

jfc, thank goodness for Pena, but Dubon and Rodgers need to stop playing everyday. Please fucking call up Matthews.

He can't be any worse but I don't have real high hopes for Matthews either.  He's consistently run a ~30% K rate.

I hear you, but he also walks, hits for some power and steals bases. Watching Dubon and Rodgers strike out with runners on 3rd and no outs is just the same shit on why this team struggles to score runs consistently.

The last month or so I've either been busy, or out of the country, so haven't watched as many games as I'd like. When I have watched I haven't been able to post here. Finally have a day to myself and watching. I'm sure it's been addressed here a lot, but Walker has been totally disappointing at the plate. I didn't expect him to be a .300 hitter, but he's barely above the Mendoza line. Peña OTH, has been nails.

Yeah I'm ready for a change for sure

Wtf are you talking about?  He should have done that 2 batters earlier. brown was completely out of sorts and not even competitive in the strike zone.
