Pat Spencer is checking into a 2nd round playoff game whose outcome is in doubt. Fuck it, let's do it.

that's* outcome.

You can't be like Minny's offense and just throw random bullshit out there.

Literally as I hit submit on that, he charges.

Rudy was maybe their best player tonight. Finch for some reason decided to bench him for a huge stretch in the 2H and it totally fucked Minny.

So Cleveland seems cooked.

The other 3 I think we need to see G2 before drawing any conclusions. I could see all of the teams that lost G1 winning the series.

Playoff Jimmy time now. There’s no player more fun to watch than Butler in a situation like this. Since war history is what I study I would look at Jimmy like this. If he had been a Marine at Guadalcanal he would’ve been a perimeter machine gunner against one of the IJA Banzai charges. He’d have survived, killed a couple of dozen Japanese during the charge and then went out with his bayonet looking for more.

He is the single toughest player in the playoffs. Nothing has changed on that front since I said it back in 2020. Golden State got him for stuff like this. He mentally thrives in these situations. You’d much rather have a healthy Steph, but having Butler there to step in and lead the team is what every coach wants in this trying situation. I’ll take the Dubs to win this series even if Steph misses 3 or 4 games.

Golden State is losing every game that Steph doesn't play. They just don't have the horses. A bunch of extremely limited offensive players with the basketball IQ to operate effectively around Steph's gravity. Jimmy playing iso ball with kickouts to Buddy Hield ain't gonna cut it for 48 minutes.

They’ll win this series. I knew the Lakers weren’t going to win against Minnesota. I’ll take the Dubs to win without Steph. It wouldn’t be the biggest series win of his career as the leader of a team.

Yes everyone would love to see Curry and his ridiculous shot-making ability. Everyone would also like to see his unrivaled  ability to run the offense overall out there. However, having a playoff-tested guy like Butler that can give you 40 plus minutes on the court where you don’t have to worry about effort is a priceless asset to have in this situation. They’ll win ugly, but a win is a win.

Best case for the Warriors regarding Steph returning is maybe game 5 at the earliest?

There's a full 3 days of rest between Games 5 and 6. So Game 6 isn't until next Sunday. I imagine, if it's anything more than the slightest of tweaks, that's the game they'll be targeting. Hope they can get another fluky win at home in Games 3 or 4, then put everything into Game 6 at home to force a Game 7. Obviously, that goes tits up if Minnesota wins 3 straight.

I guess we will see. Worst case scenario is this is 2-2 going back to Minnesota. The Wolves do not have a single guy outside of Edwards that can take over a game. The series is going to be a rock fight unless Curry returns. In a rock fight I like having two guys in Butler and Green that are used to playing that way.

its just basketball. in the grand scheme of life it doesnt matter.

None of this ultimately matters. It's entertainment and nothing more. It's entertainment that I love, but still it's just that. When the Lakers decide to start paying me to go to games to support the team like Ballmer did for one game for the Clips fans I'll care more, but until that time the NBA is just something to enjoy watching.

Back to Monday I’m not too worried about OKC…yet. Despite Jokic going off for 40/20 OKC still had the game won, it  took two total brain farts at the end to blow it. Jokic is going to get his all series but not 40/20 every night. Will be interested to see how they bounce back tonight. If they lose again at home I think Denver takes the series.

He's definitely nice. He had some shooting woes last year post ASG that were related to I think a wrist injury and a lot of folks held it against him. He is also one of the top shit talkers in the league, which can be pretty fun. He has guys on absolute skates these days, no one can stay in front of him. If he's hitting from outside he's... Really good.

During Wemby's rookie season there was a game against the Pacers where Haliburton was dancing around hitting every shot and doing whatever he wanted. I hadn't watched a ton of basketball for a couple of years at that point and was like "who the fuck is this guy? He really this good?" Yeah I think he is just that good.

For all the hand wringing, if Chet and/or Jalen Williams hit a few more shots, they win.  Even with that, they should have won.  They were up 10 late.

Tonight is must win for them, though.

Per Shams, it's a Grade 1 strain, at least a week out for Steph. So the above will be the plan. Do everything they can to steal one at home to force a Game 6. If it's 3-1 going back to Minny, then maybe they run him out there for Game 5 (next Wednesday) as a last ditch, our season's over if not effort.

I guess it doesn't really matter because neither of these teams is realistically competing for a title, but more Steph is better than less Steph.

I would say before yesterday, some people had considered Minny live to win it all, if Ant got hot.

Now they are obviously a garbage team with garbage players.

I don't think they're garbage at all. They're really good. I think they'd still be a ever-so-slight favorite in this series with a healthy Steph. I just think OKC and Boston are a clear step ahead, and I'd probably pick Denver over either of these teams as well because of Jokic.

Minny being Jekyll and Hyde isn’t anything new (unless they are playing Denver). They could win the next four games, go down 3-1, or anything in between.

We play shitty against teams with their star out. Our mentality is just showing up expecting teams to lay down.

If we’re not winning by 10+ at half or its MN 55 GS 51/ GS winning @ half of game 2, then GS wants it more

Pretty big first half coming up tomorrow

I think that's pretty common throughout the league. Lots of playoff instances of the better team coming out flat expecting little resistance from a depleted team, and the "scrubs" playing like they have nothing to lose.

But, yeah, if Minny can't find a way to bring the intensity tomorrow after being embarrassed last night, that would be pretty concerning.

TWolves eliminated the Nuggets last year and I believe they have won 5-6 straight against them. For some reason they are just a bad matchup.

I could see anyone in the semis winning the title sans maybe the Cavs and Ws due to injuries.

This is the most balanced playoffs I think I've ever seen.
