This obnoxious twat Coleman is going to keep dragging things out until he is the only viable difference making WR left on the market. I'd bet he tries to take it all the way to start of the dead period (yes the portal idiotically has one in a few days).

I have some good news and I have sone bad news. The good news is I brought this picture, the bad news is they're gonna blow him...away, too.

We seem to have our shit together on the defensive side as far as the portal goes. Offense seems more fucky. Just like on the field.

Imagine yourself at 21 years old. Bunch of people offering you 7 figures to play football for them. Each place willing to entice you in any way possible: wine, dine, 69. What do you do?

I know what 21 year old @boilerhorn would do. Hell, maybe even the old version of me…. Yes, I will take a visit!

I'm sorry. I'm laughing at the thought of my wife using such language to describe our relationship.

Oh I ain't blaming him and I'd be doing the same thing if I were his agent as well.

Things have gotten so bad on this thread that I cannot even tell when people are trolling anymore. Subtle sarcasm and imbecilic nonsense are starting to look the same to me.

What would she say “argh he stole my ship and made me walk the plank of love?”

You people are some of the most 3/4 glass empty mofos on the planet. 😂 I’m not sure what phrasing I should have used. Maybe I’ve been watching too many Hallmark romances over the holidays. Damn. I will work on phrasing.

Don't know anything about him but the numbers and team scream baseline P4 competence. And in this new era, if annual free agency continues, those guys are valuable. You're not going to be able to stockpile studs as depth.

He's depth if we land at least two more LBs in the portal better than him. If we don't, he's playing a lot.

But if that were that not the case, I'm positive could build something out of our mutual dislike of Flood and Harris. 🤘🏼

I’m still concerned about the oline because the past 3 years don’t inspire much confidence. Hoping that these new additions via the portal will somehow keep it from being a liability.

Wonder who will become available from tonite’s contest? Did Cig have a lot of attrition (leaving via portal) last year?

this you?

Girl. That is rich coming from you and the Sark thread on the football board

I'm hoping we bring in some OL in exactly this mold.

He has stolen my joy with his arrogance. I see no need to sunshine pump him. I want him to succeed but I also want him to know that blowing somewhere above $25 million and closer to $40 on a team that didn’t make the playoffs in year five is unacceptable and that kind of money demands results that are to be expected of him. Period. No more excuses from the full of gas man. I don’t have the exact figure but dudes who know shit snd routinely post here and my BmD know the true number and it’s well above $25 and he should have done far better to plug the oline and get weapons than he did in 2025 and If he whiffs again I expect his seat to be so hot he has ball rash.

Ok I've seen enough, all in on Jay Harris . Lets go.

Was just thinking that. Would be a great compliment to Brown. He carries them like this though and Oregon won’t make it cheap.

Losing Barnes and getting Cryer is a significant net negative. Cryer is terrible in coverage.

Yes because we’ve done such a tremendous job on our targets to this point.

A significant net negative compared to a guy who had 43 snaps this season and is largely an unknown quantity?

It’s coached by the same guy who had front row seats for Ahmad Hardy against UL-Monroe and let him end up at Mizzou.

would’ve solved a lot of our problems

Bingo, we need 2-3 IOL period. Probably a OT and RB and 2 WR just to register. We've done absolute shit at these areas. A scat back type RB is great, where is the power back for 3&1 etc? Cooper as a freshman?

It doesn't matter what kinda back we get when they are getting met 3 yards deeps in the backfield

I'm good with the Cryer addition, but the answer to your question is yes. Barnes was a true freshman, his potential is more valuable than Cryer's base level competence.

What exactly is potential worth when players demand SEC starter money well before their production is commensurate with their pay?

Yep. He was a top 100 recruit and the third best linebacker in his class. We know what Cryer can’t do. Barnes’ ability exceeds his regardless of snap count.

There shouldn’t be a portal window. You should be able to portal at any time as long as you can be admitted to the school you are transferring to at that time. This thing where it’s all stuffed into a few weeks is silly.

I barely saw Bo Barnes in coverage because he barely played this year and I saw zero snaps of Cryer but I’m going to pretend to know things to be angry about.

Yes, Barnes was awesome in coverage for the 7 plays he was on the field this year

I admit I was rather drunk by the end of our bowl game but wasn't Barnes mostly playing behind an emergency safety convert JJR for the game? That doesn't exactly speak well of his immediate upside for 2026. Not that I wanted to see him leave or anything but still.

We’re not counting on ‘potential’ - they’re bringing in guys that have played real snaps at a baseline competent level as depth pieces. We might not have seen Barnes - but coaches saw him every day in Spring, Summer, and Fall practices as well as on scout team during the season. Now, they want him back, but not enough to make him such a priority they’ll do what’s necessary to immediately bring him back (like Zina).

This isn’t ’trust the coaches’, but when you’re looking for players to come off the bench in case of injury or incompetence - pretty much every coach at every level is going to want the guy less likely to fuck up over the kid with ‘high potential’ but no experience.

Well, you'll get no argument from me about the pay situation, the whole system is a mess.

Yes, people are acting like his high school ranking means a god damn thing after spending a year on campus.

When we are all done with the portal I need one of the nine posters who actually know things (you know who you are) to tell me how to feel about all of those signings. I will then dutifully spread that opinion far and wide, as if it’s my own opinion.

You could use this logic for every young player if you wanted to.

2nd and 4 and like Sark all routes deep with just one outlet. These fucking OCs.

We kind of are. Sounds like pretty much every freshman who didn’t produce was asked to take a pay cut. The only players Texas appears to be making a real effort to keep are players who proved something on the field. Ask the 995’ers and they’ll tell you high school recruiting is about to be de-emphasized even more than it had been the last few years - at least for the top teams in the country. Schools are going to go after the top 5 star prospects they believe can help right away and then fill out the high school class with 2 or 3 star prospects that won’t cost anything.

Oregon’s 78% 4 and 5 star roster is getting whipped by Indiana’s 8% roster. One can only conclude that we need to force all 4 and 5 star players to portal and replace them with 2 star players who are 30 with a wife, mortgage and two kids.

We should fire Muschamp for letting him leave.

or maybe coach our players up and hold them accountable to a certain level of performance. I don't know, maybe that would work

Indiana is a very disciplined team. Ours, not so much

Yeah, its going to be more like basketball. I think the only reason the Barnes one bothers me is because it appears that Harris or someone just fucked up an exit interview, and then Muschamp tried to save the situation but couldn't. From what I gather, that one feels like a screw up more than us willingly letting someone go.
