Having seen your posts and takes over the years, nothing you’ve “heard” has any link to any credibility for the rest of us on this board.

So you deny that Miami made an offer to Simmons? Because I have heard that from two different people now who are very close to UT athletics.

Love Wisner and his contributions but failing to upgrade after last season cost us this year. In the same vein as PK he exceeded expectations but the ceiling has been hit. Hope he can tear is up at a P4 school next year.

We want it both ways.

Yeah, we absolutely salivate and celebrate when we "steal" an absolute stud off someone else's roster. However, when Texas player looks to improve his position and go elsewhere, "NIL is killing college football".  Similarly in 24 season heading in to CFP don't remember any threads about why the CFP is killing college football or sucks, but Texas misses this year and there are multiple CFP sucks ass threads.

It's Texas, it's what we do.

You and two million other imbeciles run around this world on a daily basis with “very close” sources connected to Texas athletics. It’s fucking nauseating. I’m not confirming or denying shit because I have no idea. I don’t waste people’s time texting or calling during the holidays to find out the latest NIL or personnel news and if I did, I’d then likely never wind up hearing a damned thing. People volunteering info like that are also almost always full of shit and don’t know a fucking thing.

In the last two months at social gatherings and kid sport events, I’ve had at least 10 different people attempt to tell me some sort of scoop about Texas athletics and each one of them was either patently wrong or passing stuff off from the summer that was more stale  than a crouton. Outside of one “connected” aggie, these were all boosters and some of them are lawyers who are actually friends with some of the big NIL drivers. Still wrong.

Nothing about any of this is unique to Texas. I read plenty of other fan boards. We’re one of least idiotic and least myopic of any of them. No doubt this site, and even this thread, has plenty of stupid, but its overall behavior isn’t anywhere near a lot of the clowntowns out there.

I'm not claiming Texas is the worst by any stretch. Rather, neither are we immune to the failings and stupidity of other fans bases. We do own a particular advantage over some in our arrogance, which personally I would have any other way, because we really are better.

This.  You people need to realize that our football board is a Mensa convention compared to the mouthbreathers that regularly call into sports radio.

Just because on the whole our board is light years ahead of others shouldn't stop us from calling out the stupidity within.

And no, we don’t need Mack Brown back. We really don’t need him anywhere near the program. Akina made a big enough mess of the secondary this year, like I said he would.

We just have a bunch of hand wringers.  It’s innate in Texas fans.  My whole family does it.

We’re Texas. This version of CFB works in our favor. Keep stacking talent and we’ll continue competing at the highest level. 2025 happened because our staff managed the roster and season like a gaggle of betas. Now is the time to re-stock talent and we have more ammo to do it than anyone else.

The RB group finally getting upgraded is the biggest development in Sarks time here. After Brooks went down in 2023 the back ups fumbled twice in the semi vs Washington and last year we ran a sweep with below average speed against tOSU on the goal line, ultimately costing us that game. With a game breaker in those years Texas likely wins a championship or two the last couple of years.

I’ve heard several “Texas fans” in the last week talk about the bad year Arch had and that they wish Ewers were still here. I immediately knew those were casual fans who read more about the team on Facebook than actually watch the games.

Yes, Arch started the year slowly. He was pretty damned good by mid-season. Maybe tune in and watch the games.

I don’t think lamenting the current state of college football and acknowledging that we are uniquely positioned to benefit from it have to be mutually exclusive thoughts.

We will absolutely be fine.  I just, selfishly, don’t love that some of the magic that I associate with the sport is gone.

But you are correct, come next year I will still root like hell for guys like Jesus Terry and Maraad Watson, who under previous circumstances would never ever have worn the burnt orange.

I’ve found that being a borderline sociopath has actually benefitted me as a fan of CFB over the past 4 years. Seeing things develop for what they are and not being burdened with sentiment enabled me to find a path in the chaos that ultimately helped in all of the change.

I do understand not liking the business and purely transactional aspects of it all. The thing everyone needs to either remind themselves of or realize is that there was a major transactional component before all of this, going on almost 20 years, and Texas and many other schools were being fucked because of it. The whole “having integrity and not being a shitty fucking cheater” thing kept routinely getting in the way. Once that’s framed right in one’s mind, it makes it all easier to swallow. I know you know this, but there are others who do not seem to grasp any of it.

I think the NIL is damaging the sport, but I also think UT would be foolish not to play the game while it’s still the Wild West.

I’d love for it to be reined in, but until then…

I'm more annoyed with the tampering than anything else. I get that UT is doing just like others but that's the main thing I'd like to see solved but it's also the hardest thing to solve

Reined in how?  A salary cap?  That just brings the bag game back.

If they were paying players when it was illegal to do such they sure as heck aren't going to abide by a salary cap.

I HATE this version of CFB.   Wisner quickly became one of my favorites in the JWhitt mold.   Stepped up big time whenever needed and a proven Aggy and Sooner killer.   However, $$ and guarantee to be #1 are hard to beat. Gotta wish the kid nothing but the best unless he ends up playing against us somewhere down the road.

He ain't getting anywhere close to $1M from any team that has that type of money to pay it. He will find out what his worth is in the open market, and it's likely closer to $100K than $1M.

No shock that Wisner is going to try to maximize his last year.  probably a short-sighted venture long term unless someone gives him pretty stupid money.  I also find it hard to believe Sark hire Juluke without something in the bag for this year.

And he wasn't that great at TCU versus better competition.  Could have just been bad system/OL but not a great sign.

They will likely get 15 carries combined while Arch lights it up with 40+ pass attempts.

I don't think we used Wisner to his full potential this year. He was averaging 6 yards a carry against Georgia in the first half and we only gave it to him 6 times.  He only got 3 carries in the 2nd half.  Our running issues are more about refusing to run the ball, than not actually having the talent to do so.  We will have a hard time retaining top flight running backs in the future if that doesn't change.

What are the names we are going after? Appreciate Tre, out of all the backs, he was the only one to show some patience behind the LOS last season, big reason for our Ws against those 2 shit bag schools.

You have 21,000+ posts on this site and have petitioned the admins on multiple occasions to help you change your profile handle.

I’m honest enough with myself to know that I take this seriously. Texas sports is one of my favorite hobbies and this site is my home for it.

You could just admit that you had a snarky take that couldn’t stand up against daylight and move on.

My take was clever at best and whimsical at worst.  I changed my handle once because people offended by my posts were starting to figure out who I was in real life.  You know , people that take this board way too seriously?  Lighten up Francis.
