I figured he would be an outright release so we got something.

Nill already out front for 2025-26 NHL Executive of the Year! lol

I know the NHL has a salary floor as well as a cap, which leads to weird trade imbalances when some franchises actually eat salary in order to make the minimum.

I mention that because, for the life of me, I can't see how the Pens would ship a perfectly functional player plus a pick to increase their PIMs.

That's the way I understood it, and it makes some sense. ESPN is reporting it wrong, I think:

https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/45712041/stars-trade-dumba-penguins-kolyachonok-28-draft-pick

Under "Transactions", I think they've got it correct:

Acquired D Vladislav Kolyachonok from Pittsburgh Penguins for D Matt Dumba and a 2028 second-round pick.

I read it as the other way around yesterday but just confirmed this morning.

Why do you hate America?

No shit, there's not a team in the league that would take Dumba straight up for a bag of pucks.

We traded a 2nd for a dude picked off waivers and they agreed to take Dumba, too.

Those with season tickets on the board, do you find that the resale value is pretty decent these days? I'm thinking about picking up a half-season package, but there will be some weekdays where I won't be able to make it.

I don't know shit about fuck, but when I was looking for seats on the resale market last year, it looked pretty damn solid. I couldn't justify the cost for any of the seats I'd wanna sit in.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The prices don't really look that bad on a per game basis, so I figured it was worth a shot. The FO sent a standard email and haven't responded to me questions yet so maybe everything is close to full up already.

It somewhat depends on seat location.  We did better on resales last year with better seats but they are still pretty shitty for weeknight games against opponents without a big fan base.   Biggest advice I would have is when you know you can't make a game list for sale sooner rather than later.  We tend to suck at this and make decisions day of game or day before game and that costs us.  The rare times we both know we are out of town or have a conflict and won't use the tix weeks in advance we get a pretty solid return.

I'm guessing slightly behind but probably pretty close.  Went to most of the games that would have been bigger sellers, but those we didn't, we definitely made up for some of the Monday night games we got next to nothing so I think all pretty much evened out.
