Needed it. That carolina loss is haunting.

Looking at the schedule, I feel like that one is going to bite us.

If we can get this effort from D in most games, we are going to be surprised with the results.

will have to beat 2 of philly, chiefs, Lions.  they have to have the toughest schedule left.  It would be a miracle if they make it to even 9-7-1 IMO.

only 5 teams in NFC have losing records.

it's so fucking dumb.  no way they were clever enough to do it on purpose when the place was built to get more attention for it.   but they keep it there because it gets more attention.  it should have been fixed year 1 with curtains or a shitload of tin foil

From what I understand there are curtains/blinds but skeletor refuses to close it. Yet another great decision

they will have to go 7-3 to finish to have a chance at playoffs.  just don't see it with this D and the schedule we have left.

I think a 9-7-1 team has a chance. But that still means going 6-4

Turd Ferguson is on pace to set the all-time NFL record for single-season catches by a TE. He’s on pace for 123 receptions (but only 812 yards — lol). The record was set by Zach Ertz (116 in 2018).

This is correct. There are curtains but Jerry won’t use them for football games.

All he does is catch the ball and TD's for 2 yards.

Also I know this season probably is a lost cause in the end due to the defense and a rough schedule coming up. But I really wouldn't mind them making a trade or two...even if it's one of those extra first or a high 2nd/3rd rounder.

Not for a "Rental" who you're not going keep...not for a guy for just this year.

But for like a Max Crosby type?  He's not as good as Micah, but is only 28, and signed through 2029?  I'd do that.  Even if it's a guy on with 1 year left like Pickens who you could seriously consider resigning.  A good player who can truly help.

They definitely need a Pass rusher, a LB, and a DB/Safety.  They got the assets...and hell they want Diggs gone, see what you can get for him.  A middle round pick or a starting caliber LB or some shit.

I’d rather they use those assets in the draft.

IMHO, this season is lost due to the D.

Starting to see a lot of clamoring among fans for Jerry to sign Pickens ASAP. Pickens has been great and I'm not against it, but have we learned nothing? Jerry is gonna pay him like $70mm/year.

Pickens is better than CeeDee but he's a complete wild card on and off the field. You can't pay him the money he's going to command. But damn that offense is fun to watch so far. Schottenheimer has absolutely blown me away as a playcaller to this point.

Which is what I said...I'd ONLY be down for it if it was a long term piece and NOT a Rental, even if it were a Pickens impactful rental.

I would gladly take a 1st-3rd on a real proven player who's locked up for 2-3 more years than hoping a rookie hits.  and you KNOW our track record wtih 2nd rounders being tossed for "first rounders if healthy" type players.

Clarence Hill was on with Newy after the SNF game last night and said something interesting about Schottenheimer vs McCarthy. He said Schottenheimer is way less uptight than McCarthy and that IF this team were to sneak into the playoffs he didn't think you'd see the team play with puckered buttholes like they did vs San Fran and Green Bay under McCarthy. Gives a lot of credit for Dak's fantastic season to this point to the new team atmosphere under Schottenheimer.

Right now, though too small a sample, I would rate Shottenheimer the best Cowboys head coach since at least Wade Phillips. He already seems like a considerable upgrade over McCarthy. But none of that is really saying much. But I am hopeful for the potential of him being pretty good in the long run.

I really thought Pickens had that potential to be a badass number 1b type receiver when he was at shitsburgh, just totally wasted there. So I'm not shocked he's getting a lot of love.

If he keeps putting on shows like he has so far he's not going to be cheap.

But Jerry loves his flashy offensive players. Maybe he's affordable enough as long as Lamb outshines him as the clear number 1.

That Ferguson extension seems like a bargain, now.

Javonte could pose a similar cap problem, but he looks really good. Too good to see him busting ass for a conference rival.

You get all those guys wrapped up, then you saturation draft the defensive side, get them pretty cheap for a few years.

I see some people asking if we should dangle the 2 first round picks we got from Green Bay to try and get some defensive help this season. I wouldn't do this. For one, we aren't getting some top tier talent at the trade deadline that will get us over the hump. And then we'd probably be getting an older player the trade partner's team doesn't want to extend, and he would be due a lot of money. I'd rather go find defensive help in the draft, someone who will be younger, cheaper and we get  their rights longer.

Really need to find a way to beat Denver this week, although not seeing it. We always lose to Denver, especially on the road. Dak plays poor vs Denver. Losing that Carolina game will probably hurt come finding a way into the playoffs. Have to find a way to win that game.

This team is pretty much what we had in 2011-2013 but I think our offense is better but the defense might be worse. But the point being, defense is too bad to get us anywhere and they can't bail our offense out in the games where they aren't scoring a lot. Years where very rarely both sides of the ball are in sync.

I think we can beat Philly at home. When Dak is playing, Dallas plays Philly very well. Dak does very well against them. KC will be at home, too. By then, I'd anticipate KC will be in full gear and healthy. They are already getting there now and starting to show they will once again be a contender in the AFC.

Our offense can win against anyone but the main question is, will the defense do enough where the offense doesn't have to score TDs on almost every drive? Need them to come up with key stops, turnovers and even score themselves (like yesterday). I am just surprised this team is still in the playoff mix this long into the season, I had zero expectations and really only thought they'd win 5 games this year, which seemed true after the Bears game.

Agreed.

Maybe dangle a later pick for an upgrade somewhere in defense without a hug salary, and locked up for another year or two. But that's not terribly likely.
