And? What is your point? We are Texas.. so like I said, go fuck yourself and your south Austin Mom

Only two serious questions:  1. On fourth and goal at the one, if the QB comes to the line and there are two men on the center, is the QB supposed to check out of the sneak or not?  Had he done that and run right, I think he could have gotten into the end zone.  Whole different ballgame.

2. Arch looked so uncomfortable in the first half, it kind of reminded me of Vince his 1st year, true freshman year, I think.

Is this a case of first game of season jitters or does the coaching staff need to "Let Arch be Arch", just like our QB problems were solved 20-21 years ago by "Let Vince be Vince"?

And of course like everybody else I am sick of the opposing team being so perfect that they have 0 yards of penalties through 3 quarters, and like somebody said, "here's the obligatory holding call after the game is done" thing to make the yardage look close.

The bright side is we have a kick ass defense and a kick ass punter.  Easily best punter since Dickson, and since I consider myself an expert on the best Texas D ever, the 1983 D, I would say this D is right up there.  If this Texas D had stopped OhioState on fourth down, it could easily be considered top 3 best D ever, up there with the 1981 and 1983 D, assuming this D continues to play this well throughout the season.

Without seeing other teams play, my guess is one loss, maybe two more, and a top 12 rating

I agree with you and I think our best offensive football is ahead of us. Part of me wishes this was game 2 but it is what it is and as long as we are vastly improved by season end we will compete for a national title.

It gave them 2 first downs.

A facemask penalty on Texas's Colin Simmons turned a fourth down into a first down for Ohio State, advancing their drive to the Texas 18-yard line.

Malik Muhammad was then flagged for defensive holding, which further moved the ball for Ohio State, allowing them to score the game's first touchdown on a short run from C.J. Donaldson.

To not just shit on the D, 3 times false starts took us from 3rd and short to 3rd and long.

They really hurt.

None of this shit matters if our offense (Sark's specialty) has pulse.  When the defense doesnt have to defend the middle of the field it makes it infinitely easier on them.  Throw a damn slant.

Take away Manning's 13 yd run for a first down and he averaged about 2 ypc. Not exactly the Vince Young I had in mind. Sark looking like the Quarterback Supergluer

How many designed runs did we call for him that weren’t just QB power? So he had our long run of the day when he evaded the pocket into space. Maybe call some runs that put him in space. That’s never worked for any team in the history of football at all I bet.

Thinking that play calling was the issue shows how fucking stupid you really are.

QB play was the reason we lost.

This is not the whole story. Sark's refusal to use the middle of the field ties his QB's hands behind their back.

We didn’t. Especially early.

but there were some easy throws, mostly schemed, that he flat out missed.

Did you see how poorly Arch was throwing?

Not to give sark credit, but he was smart not to let him honestly.

I keep seeing you say this and while I agree with about half of it, I think it’s a reasonable expectation for your QB to be able to hit the easy plays the that the defense gives you. The first drive alone there were 2 obvious plays where he simply did not execute. The last drive was kinda the opposite of Ewers in execution. No way Sark is calling that route to Endries with Ewers due his poor execution with that type of throw. But Arch can’t make a baddass throw like that and then turn around and fail on a simple flat route to Endries or the crosser to Wingo. We rightfully ridiculed Ewers with the same missed execution to Golden on a crucial play against Clemson. He needs to be money on those plays. Again, I agree that Sark had some wtf play calls.

I don’t disagree with anything you said. My point is Sark doesn’t scheme to his talent in anyway and sets our offense up for these types of performances. He’s done it with every offense he’s ever coached sans one year at Bama.
Execution was piss poor, but have a gameplan that focuses on what you know you do well, not on what you know you don’t.

My guy, everything you've said has been wrong and continues to be wrong. We called multiple QB draws. They were ok. Definitely the best part of his game because the rest of it was absolute trash. Throwing the ball successfully wasn't an option given what Arch was doing.

On that third down play in the fourth quarter, where Wingo was open around the five yard line and Manning hit him somewhere around the calf.... my friend who I was watching the game with, who is a coach, said that was by design, and it was on Wingo for not going to the ground to catch the ball. I told him repeatedly that he was insane, and that if Manning hits Wingo in the hands it's a TD. I would like confirmation please.

He generally gets about what the play was blocked for. Baxter is clearly battling and that's awesome but he's far from 100%. I can't wait to see Christian Clark and James Simon.

Wisner runs like he's still thinking about fumbling, just doesn't fly through the hole that's there.

We ran the ball fairly well. Arch couldn't execute anything, ever. It didn't matter the play call. Stop being dense.

Arch attempting a slant in the middle of field today would have been a sure fire pick 6.

Anyone here trying to pin this on Sark's play calling is a moron.

What's he supposed to do with a QB that can't make routine passes? Arch was awful. That was the reason we lost. Arch sucked. That is the fundamental reason we lost. Nothing else.

It matters a shit ton. Seriously, you don't think the penalties are also a coaching issue? It shows lack of discipline. This isn't instead of Sark's shitty offensive game plan, its in addition to. You can't dismiss going from 3rd and short to 3rd and long when its against one of the best defenses we will face. Did you know Texas had the same fucking issues last year?

This is a really fucking stupid take.

Yes, Sarks offensive play calling is an issue. So are the penalties.

Qb draws between the fucking tackles. Essentially just QB power. Move the pocket with the athlete at quarterback. This isn’t hard to understand. It gives him space to tuck and run. Call some zone read for fucks sake. Do something other than stand the inaccurate runner flat footed in the pocket. The whole point here is we literally did all the things our qb is bad at without trying the things he can be good at.

Unless you are aggy with kk as your offensive play caller, you don't bank on killing your QB.

You can look for excuses all you want, but tonight falls on the QB first and then the wrs next

Eh, some better red zone calls and we probably at least go to OT.  Sark takes some blame.  But yeah Arch played like a true freshman.  Which was surprising.

If your QB is best at running the ball and is bad at throwing the ball short/intermediate, why would you do the latter instead of the former? Why recruit that player in the first place?

He wasn't good at anything today. We tried a ton of shit with him. He sucked at it. I'm sorry that hurts your feelings. But it is true. There wasn't a game plan fix for Manning playing like absolute dog shit. His level of play today would keep the next 3 games somewhat close instead of being the absolute beat downs they should be. I'm confident he'll figure it out. But today isn't the day to blame anything but Arch.

The red zone was the less of the issues today   go change your diaper and then come back when you are ready to face reality

Haven't seen a replay but it looked to us like Wingo wasn't even looking for the ball. Arch probably threw it a little too hard too but seemed catchable from my live viewing.
