Bama ain't getting blown out, that's silly. Deboer isn't Sark, and he has Grubb, who is infinitely better at calling the O because Sark refuses to let go of play calling duties for whatever reason.

Bama O has looked like dogshit the last half of the season what are you talking about?

See, this is my issue. Why should a G5 qualify? They have absolutely zero chance of winning it all. None. Zilch. Why should they be guaranteed a spot over teams that play in real conferences? The G5 shit needs to go. If they want in, they need to schedule a high P4/5 team and beat them. Not an NC St team, but fuck it, let's jst say Auburn.

Because to get the 12 team playoff it had to be voted on and to get it passed, they had to include the G5 rule.

You have to either dissolve the NCAA or somehow get the G5 schools to have their own playoffs.

nope. both of those results could have been exactly the same, and we’d easily be in the playoff had we played utep week 1. this is not up for debate.

thats why including any G5 who isnt undefeated that has a SOS in the 90s or 100s is stupid

Is texas more impressive at 10-2 replacing Ohio St with Tulsa and in over Miami when you compare resumes?

what if they beat Ohio St but lost the UK or Miss St game and were at 9-3 with Ohio St, Vandy, OU and Aggy wins?

Then what do you call them?

I call them conflating two different concepts, one of which is incredibly weak given the tiebreakers in CCG vs CFP, and the fact nobody but you is arguing your point.

if Bama loses badly, it should be held against them. Because they didn’t earn their spot on the CCG any more than Ole Miss or A&M.

Oh well. Hopefully Sark will also get the team ready for shitty opponents next year ...

Or maybe he can just look hard into the mirror…..and take the silly  putty out of his ears.

Tie breakers are srupod when they don’t involve head to head. None of those teams played each other.

You're right, but everybody knew that going in and it still is how Bama got in.

Even the announcers seem to be under a gag order to not mention Texas. The mouse has spoken. No talking head questioning Notre Dame’ “ qualifications “ outside of Touchdown Jesus, is also suspect.

Why would they discuss a team that is clearly not making the field?

its gonna be a nuclear bomb dropped by the committee when they look at NDs resume and see a top 20 win with a terrible SOS  and lost their only tough games.

Vandy and Miami are gonna be so pissed.

I guess some folks don't realize Bama is the higher conference seed in this game because they beat Georgia.

I’m certainly aware. But we’ve left out two other teams on tiebreaking procedure. None of whom played head to head.

and the original gist of the argument was “what happens if Bama loses this badly, should they be penalized for losing the CCG they made that others didn’t?”

and the answer is absolutely yes. Texas shouldn’t be behind Bama getting embarrassed. Separate but very potentially related argument.

Yes because last week showed the committee says we're out. What's there to talk about?

It’s less about us than ND and Miami both getting in should Bama get their shit pushed in.

thread title should for sure be changed.

It would be to our advantage if the Bowl Committee could find an excuse to move two teams up so that they couldn't be accused of favoring Texas because we have such a cool university with unique branding, a superior education and a high profile QB, unlike all these other cookie-cutter universities that are BORING. In fact, there should be a boredom factor figured into the selection process.

So get the fuck rid of BYU... and Tech was pretty fucking boring too, and their uniforms suck. Move Texas to 11. We blow out the already embarrassed Indiana and put a nail in their football coffin. That sets up a Nat'l Championsip final against Georgia in a couple of weeks. (Looks like Bama outta be booted as well. )

the committee has no reasonable moves at this point, though realistically it can do whatever it wants

drop the entire ACC despite Miami beating ND and having the same record , or do you put in Miami and leave out the ACC champion if its Duke ?

piss off Texas and put in teams it beat, teams that played no one, and some G5s ?

piss off Bama for penalizing them for losing a championship game ? what about ole miss missing their head coach ?

I'm cheering hard for georgia and duke right now , let the chaos flow and burn it all down from the absurdity over whatever they do

It's easier to piss us off with the don't lose to Florida than Miami who only lost to teams with winning records and has the head to head over Notre Dame.

Duke is not getting in.

If Alabama gets blown out I’ll bet they drop ‘Bama and put both Miami and Notre Dame in.

The wailing by the SEC will be glorious

Edit: I see this has already been brought up above

thats where im at. Im sure theyll love JMU heading to Eugene and Tulane playing at Ole Miss for opening games.  They really  need to put more of an emphasis on SOS and not so much on W/Ls especially if youre talking 1 loss.

Miami is in a conference that has a 5 loss team in their championship today.

Bama only has 2 losses, though. Not 3. They found a way to beat a shitty Auburn team. We didn't find a way to beat a shitty Florida team. That's the difference.

But what keeps getting ignored is that Texas is 0-5 against Georgia and Ohio State in a year period of time. That's the real issue here.

Yeah... Just about anyone playing college football these days would be 0-5 too, so there is that.  Especially if they have been gutted by the NFL like we have been these past two years.

Bama's on a present course to test a lot of hypotheticals.

You mean the same Alabama that in their last 5 regular season games ... beat a 4 - 8 South Carolina team by .. uh.. 7 points; beat a 7 - 5 LSU team which did not have a head coach; Lost to Oglaucoma; Played a high school team; beat a 5 -7 Allbarn team by uh.... 7 points and is now getting dump trucked by Georgia.

and THAT constitutes a play off resume?

Why would they be mentioning us? Texas isn’t in it.

Stop trying to create something that isn’t there.

They were for us. The only teams they weren't the final rankings for were BYU, Bama, Notre Dame, and Miami.

Bama has the highest TV eyeballs in football. It’s going to also test out ability to play a good bowl game. May jeopardize more than CFP.

Bama and Michigan played last year in the Reliaquest. Not sure the SEC wants another rematch.

There is no it a choice, the citrus bowl is contractual obligated to take the top ranked BIG and SEC teams that do not make the playoffs.

I could see the committee moving ND and Miami up and then have Texas at 11 and Alabama at 12, knowing that neither make the playoffs but then saying see Texas scheduling Ohio State mattered.

This committee didn't watch anything they aren't taking their jobs seriously and they don't understand that the entire point of a beauty contest and a rotating committee is so you can justify everything out loud and tell people what the committee likes etc.

This whole mysterious thing where they dintbhave to explain themselves leads to a lack of accountability or explanation and makes the whole thing a net negative on the entertainment side of things.
