If a bad loss to a shitty team from Florida is disqualifying, then Bama should be out as well.

For the trillionth time, it isn’t the Florida loss that sunk us.  It’s the fact that the Florida loss is our third.

If the number one criteria is minimal losses, then a stout OOC schedule is clearly in opposition of any postseason goals.

It’s the 3 loss issue.

don't fucking lose to a team that ends up firing their coach midseason

Well no three loss team has made it in the playoffs. It was a Bridge too far. We had to beat Georgia. It sucks. Watching three teams we BEAT punch their ticket.

Absolutely no fuckin help today man. Sucks but is what it is. Gonna suck to see a playoff full of teams with cupcake schedules and a couple teams we dominated H2H. The sport of CFB is going to have to make some serious decisions to maintain the legitimacy of this playoff process. Is the committee going to keep acting like all records are created equal? Are we going to continue to pretend the Big 12 and ACC are P4 conferences? Is there always going to be a spot given to a G5 school regardless of their qualifications? Is Notre Dame going to get to take a spot despite not being in a conference and hand picking their schedule?

It’s truly insane we’re on the outside looking in… Just for scheduling the consensus #1 team in the country…. Playing them to one score on the road in their most competitive game of the year…

They don’t cancel every series they have scheduled against top programs like people are suggesting. How about we play and win the games?

Indiana literally actually just did this.

What is your point here, shouldn’t have played tOSU I guess?

If two losses is the only practical standard, then schedule like Indiana, Tech, and Notre Dame do.

The committee has made it abundantly clear that SOS doesn’t matter with all of the love they’ve been giving ND, BYU, A&M, and Tech. It’d be asinine for us to play Ohio State next year or play in any other marquee OOC game from here on out.

Posted (edited)

If they expand to 16 and/or get rid of the fucktarded G5 bid then maybe keep scheduling good OOC games. Otherwise, those marquee games in the post season will hit just as hard/harder for our fans.

The G5 rule is clear evidence that this is really about handing out participation trophies and not selecting the best teams.

It's 3 losses. Simple math.

Beat Florida (or tOSU) and we only have 2. They (FLA) were/ are a shitty team, we had 2 weeks to prepare, we came out flat and lost. 3 losses puts you in a bad place ANYWAY you want to look at it.

You bring up 'Bama,  they are only going to have 2 losses after winning tonight (Auburn is doing nothing).

Or maybe the #1 team didn't matter and it was about losing a game that we should never have even come close to losing.

That’s not the reason we won’t make it. In fact, it’s being used as a data point in our favor. We’re not going to make it in because we looked like dogshit half the season and lost three games. One to a shit team and one by 25 points.

If we are out, immediately cancel all our good  non conference games until such time as the  acc and big twelve are more than two teams deep.

That's a lot of words to say you think that your special team should get into a playoff after only winning 75% of their games.

Again, this is completely false. All you need to do is look at our ranking compared to Vanderbilt and OU. Same SEC record, head to head wins for UT. Any person with a functioning IQ knows that if we had the exact same record, we would be ranked above both teams.  Gee, I wonder why we aren’t.

The eye test is a joke. The committee cherry picks when it’s important and when it isn’t. One team finishes the season strong, and they’re a force to be reckoned with. Another does the same thing, and it’s look at the bad loss earlier in the season.

SMU losing to Cal. If they do lose I think that means Miami is in the ACC championship and they only get 1 team in. I still don't think we make it, but this would help

Tech beats aggy, tears down the goalposts and rams them into the aggy cheering section, led by Gap Shirt Boy's son. This is what I want.

And throws flaming tortillas at the yell leaders and then that Masked Rider Chick chases the Aggys out of their stadium Sleepy Hollow style and we all listen to the post game show and laugh like mofos as aggy whines that Tech has the worst fans ever and shit 💩

it works this way and has forever

1. loss column

2. head to head to break a tie in the loss column

3. if no head to head you can start eye test, this is what I think, someone has a good win or bad loss, I like their uniforms, cheerleaders are hot, yada yada

This hasn't changed from polls to BCS to CFP.

It literally is lol? A 10-2 Texas with a loss to Florida is still easily, easily a lock for the playoff. Probably hosts a home game.

Most may not agree and I’ve been drinking but loss Texas with non OT ass kickings vs Kentucky and miss state with a non comeback against Vandy looks really good. The 3 losses plus those close games can’t overcome the great wins

The Florida secret sauce was Wilson, Lagway, and Baugh were all healthy at the same time and it happened to fall on Texas weekend. It hasn’t happened again this season. Thems the breaks.

That said, everything except a SEC title game is on the table against Georgia and they violently shit the bed. Had to win that one to get everybody to forget Florida.

I think the committee is going to say well Texas had their chances, but they didn’t capitalize and we’ll end up in the 12-14 range.

yes what this chart tells you is that a SOS in the 40's or 50's is fine as long as you have 0-2 losses.

Totally disagree. OU has looked like steamed over dogshit all season with a drunk offense that can barely score and they have seen no penalty for "style" points.

Fuck outta here with this. We got absolutely ref fucked for 3 quarters and were only down 4 at the start of the 4th. We got outcoached so badly the first two drives of the 4th quarter that we lost it right then and there. Dont act like our guys quit. They fought hard all night. Jumping offsides on 4th down and a fuck up on special teams cost us that game.

the issue is not that losses is #1 criteria it is that it is 90% of all the criteria.
