His father coached my son at LB this year in HS. Dad is intense and knows LB, so this hits close to home....

His brother LJ Cryer played basketball at Houston and Baylor, he now is with Golden State in the NBA.

Comes from an athletic family, seems like a good kid from a good family.

This guy committed to Alabama, and they are melting down on social media he is visiting Texas.

The portal is becoming more brutal with every day that passes.

Another report says Cam Coleman is now a battle between Bama and Texas and neither is backing down moneywise; things change quickly if this is the case.

Former NC State RB Hollywood Smothers has arrived in Austin for his visit to #Texas,

@ontexasfootball

has learned. Smothers ran for 939 yards on 5.9 an attempt in 2025.

The problem permeates by other programs willing to overpay for unproven results. No idea what Wisner was able to fleece out of Florida St, but that’s a RB that has yet to crack 700 yards in a season demanding top end pay and desperate coaches/programs paying it….. it’s dumb. To prioritize HS we’ve somehow got to lock in multi year deals.

Wisner had over 1,000 yards in 2024, to be fair.

No idea how I missed that. SMH.

An idea. Decide on what your ideal team needs, QB1, QB2 and QB3 then wide outs, 5 or 6. Tight ends 4 and so on. At the end of the effort how many players does that equal? Say hypothetically 90 or less. Then allocate your money across 90 not 105. The current NIL/Booster/School payment model contribution requires, lamentably, continuing instant gratification. Sark's desire to recruit HS players and to develop culture while laudable will buy you a Dabo. It seems to me these are the current hands to be played.

As long as Texas can just match any Bama or other school offer.

They can then raise them an Arch Manning at quarterback.

If Coleman wants consistent accurate passes from a Heisman trophy candidate then come to Texas. Showcase your playmaking ability. Alabama has a rookie QB whoever that’ll be. No brainer. Unless he’s just purely playing for money this year.

Everything he is saying is 100% correct and I still hate this so much

Certainly Mack is right about what UT needs to do but then the obvious question then becomes, how? While UT's resources are large they are not infinite. I suggest an unstated limitation on the number of the team players and use of the funds to make that group high quality. Will have to do it every year. Culture, like good cheese and wine, takes time, and in the current environment, time is not available.

improved scouting is a good start. perfect for grad student work. cover their grad school and some expenses in exchange for their scouting work. you'd have people lined up for that opportunity

Don't forget Humann Field! They can probably slap a corporate brand on the red zones as well. I'm surprised there's not a sponsor for the yellow simulated first down line as well (brought to you by Lenscrafters!)

I so want to see Aaron Rogers or Brett Favre take some adult night classes or whatever and get on a team.

Edit: shit, I guess Brett Favre was a bad example. Looks like he's having some serious problems.

Today might be a VERY good day. Like VERY good. And that Yale OL stud is still in Austin. Getting him is a huge deal if that happens. Then we can pick up some weapons. This is the year to go all in and swing our money bags. I am think Harris is a complete imbecile and Flood inspires zero confidence but just getting dudes on the OLine that are better than what we had is huge. Is it sustainable for 2027? I doubt it but it requires a better GM and Flood has to go if we go all in with a portal haul and an ascendant Arch and we don’t get past the semis. This is as positive as I am likely to get so take it. 😂

oh shit... may get crazy tonight

This is how our new horror film "Nightmare on Rainey Street" will begin.

It seemed like an ordinary night on Rainey Street till a local resident enraged by Texas' failing in the college football portal and their chance for a national title snaps.

A reign of terror and blood followed.

Even Freddy Krueger will not venture down Rainey Street.

If Coleman picks Bama any chance that shakes Williams this way?

Im aware he looked like shit for a lot of this year but he still has a lot of potential and would be buying low Im surmising. He fits a mold Sark has had success with

At some point you have to ask yourself why are you even watching college football, why root for Texas when it's just mercenaries with 1 year contracts and an NFL-lite minor league. You're so preoccupied with whether or not we could, no ones stopped to think if we should.

Shout out for Jurassic park reference.

Per OTF... Rasheem Biles committed to Texas... LB from Pitt

Just got the best LB in the portal and an instant upgrade over everyone in that room last year not named Anthony Hill. What are we even doing letting Bo Barnes walk??

Yes, this is a big get.

Texas has landed a commitment from coveted Pittsburgh linebacker transfer Rasheem Biles, sources tell me and @chris_hummer. Was an All-ACC selection this season. He led the ACC with 17 tackles for loss. Also finished with 101 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two pick-sixes.

The Cal linebacker Cade Uluave that visited is the other big-time linebacker still out there.

Per reports from Horns247, Texas running back Christian Clark is set to return next season instead of entering the transfer portal.

The Longhorns secured a commitment from Arizona State running back Raleek Brown out of the portal but Clark will likely have a significant role as a backup.

per Bobby OTF just now, Christian Clark deal is NOT SIGNED YET

Good to see Texas shelling out some cash to keep some of these guy.

Will they do it for Barnes or not remains to be seen since they are getting these linebackers in the portal and still after Uluave.

Yeah, true. Perhaps current success would be a better descriptor than “effort”.

Ok uhhh first off holy shit hot take. Secondly that statement has nothing to do with our efforts on offense both in retention and the portal. Goosby took effort. Brown took effort. Going after the #1 portal prospect in Coleman is taking effort. Bringing in 5 OL visitors (so far) and shooting our shot took effort. Some more OL success is certainly needed though.
