2018-19 Houston Rockets Thread of running it back (mainly)

Man, yall are tough...

Rockets looked great against Utah tonight.

Harden is on some kind of drug... (and I think he twisted his ankle at the end, when there should have been a foul called for not letting him come down on a jumper.)

Calvin Murphy has on a gold suit. A really shiny gold suit.

Gerald Green is the mayor.

Morey needs to figure out the injury analytics...

Really not a fan of getting rid of a first just to get Shumpert. He's fine but I'd rather have just kept the pick if he's all we could get with it.

Also, Deandre Jordan is trash. We already have Faried to backup Capela once the team gets healthy.

The Rockets are saving a lot of cash in present and future tax assessments. Jordan needs to be signed if he is bought out.

There is zero chance the Rockets are going to play Faried at the 4 for any minutes that matter. He has one position in this system and that is center.

We do need a real backup for Tucker, which is why the Shumpert deal is disappointing. Rockets needed a big wing that can backup Tucker, not another small wing who is an inconsistent shooter.

still fantasizing over turning shump into mirotic.  look at this possible playoff rotation:

cp3, rivers

harden, gordon, green

tucker, ennis

mirotic

capela, faried

add a buy out guy like wes matthews to that and you are looking at an insanely deep 11 man rotation.

edit - and find a way to get danuel house back too.

I know some were dreaming of a superstar trade. But I think Morey just made up for that terrible offseason.

Getting rid of Ennis, MCW, Melo, Knight and Chriss and adding Shumpert is positive.

Adding Wes Matthews/DJ or Wilson Chandler make this team at full health very close to what they had in the playoffs last year.

Confusing.  Ennis is a D guy and was finally finding his 3pt shot.  Replaced with a worse shooter, but is his D an upgrade?

damn, hate losing Ennis for Shumpert. Might as well add my old ass on the roster.  Ennis was improving, played hard. This is very bad Morey.

because you don't understand the scheme.

Umm ok. If you don’t think deandre Jordan fits the rockets scheme of lobs and dunks and a guy that blocks a ton of shots then you must think Clint capella sucks too. Gordon is great and if he could be traded for a upgrade you do it and if you don’t think anyone is a upgrade over Gordon and that losing him would “end” the rockets then you are a moron.

i didn't say any of that and have no idea what the point is.

Getting under the luxury tax is really nice because that means the Rockets don't really have the worry about it for the rest of Paul's contract.

On the basketball side of things though, the Rockets are really small on the perimeter.

pg - Paul/Rivers

sg - Harden/Green

sf - Gordon/Shumpert

pf - Tucker

c - Capela/Faried

That looks like a solid 9 man rotation but really need a bigger wing who can play some 3 and backup Tucker. No idea who ends up getting bought out but adding a Jeff Green or Wilson Chandler would be perfect. Markieff Morris could work too if it seems like he'll be healthy enough to play.
