Who is the right contractor?

Recommended Posts

So I bought a house several years ago that is fantastic, except for one major problem.  There is a smoke detector about 3/4 of the way up the staircase, which means that you have to take your life in your hands to replace the battery.  Its been about a year since the battery was replaced, because we had some painting being done and they had a scaffold up.  However, I'm worried that fucker is going to start low battery chirping soon.  Since I have no way to change it myself, this will very likely drive me insane.

There are also 2 smoke alarms within 5 feet of this thing, so I'm also thinking I might want to completely disable it instead.

Who do I call that is going to have the right type of ladder to get up to either change out the battery or just disable it altogether?

Smoke detectors have a 10 year lifespan.  I just replaced all of our smoke detectors.

You need to use this opportunity to buy one of the  little giant type ladders.

My house was built in 2014. And we have a little giant, but the ceiling in that area is 18 feet above the staircase so the little giant isn’t big enough. I’m telling you, it’s a ridiculous place for a smoke detector.

I have a 2 story ladder y'all could borrow.  Wrap the top sides with a towel & it shouldn't be a problem with scuffs.  The big problem is whether or not my 2 story rig will fit up in your space.*

Do y'all still live in the same house I went to a buncha years ago?

*Yes, I see what I did there.
