Luckily it only lasted a day. Im out of here as soon as the mesna bag finishes up.

Yes having to go to the ER plus 4 days extra hospital time on top of 5 days every 2 two weeks is brutal to the psyche. I told the Dr this is no way to live. He said its the only way if you want to get through this.

I haven't even had surgery yet so I'll quit my whining. Ive been lucky with this shit so far.

@MissingInAction, maybe stop thinking about "having" to go to the ER, and realize you are "getting" to go to the ER.

Me I am waiting to go to the dermatologist on the 11th to see if this mole under my right eye that is growing into an imbedded Mango worm is something harmless that they slash off, or another wandering-kidney-cell-tumor-growin-out-my-face that they slash off. A few years ago I woulda Lost My Damn Mind thinkin about it, now it's "take a number, buddy."

If there must be a scar, I am hoping for a Charlton Heston El Cid battle-scar scar.

I saw that recently after about 50 years.   There are several scenes that seem extremely slow with the music waxing and waning elegantly while Sophia Lauren gazed serenely standing on a stairway or something - and I realized that anyone watching it on their TV today would have no idea the entire purpose was to allow wide screen Cinemascope to convey an image of grandeur that is completely lost on a small screen.

Also, cinema aficionados agree that Sophia Lauren had great tits.

RD, when people ask you about it, you could also mumble some barely intelligible comment about “Heidelberg” and “epee”…

Sophia Lauren was quite the vision in her day.

Watched Terms of Endearment the other day.

Great movie, Debra Winger was pure girl next trailer smoke.

The last 30 minutes really brought the dust. When first diagnosed i was having all of those conversations in my head. If things go south I hope to have that level of resolve in the final days.

Fuck cancer!

On the happy side of things i booked a luxury bus and a stay at Houston Hyatt Regency for the next MDA visit. Aside from the usual assessment I'll be going through a trial run for radiation.  Whatever that means.

I read the book last month and afterward watched the movie for the first time. Good stuff.

Thanks for keeping us updated, I appreciate the updates and am always hoping for the best for you. I suspect there are many others who feel the same way but haven't posted

Hang in there buddy, and keep fighting!

Tribute is also a good watch.  Jack Lemmon as a Broadway agent that has terminal leukemia.  Divorced and estranged from his adult son.

The ex-wife and the son and a gal Jack Lemmon’s character meets set up a tribute dinner for him while he is still alive.  He can be honored and hear all the things people would say at a wake or funeral or memorial service.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it, but when I got sick I did think about it a number of times.  There is great value in what they did for him while he was alive.

Hang in there.  You’re going to a great place to be treated.  My guess is the initial radiation appointment is just for them to get you measured and set up and get the freaking permanent blue marker put wherever they need to shoot the beams, or if there will be any radiation on your head, get fitted for a mask/helmet to wear during those treatments

The awkward part is that whenever they have to hook up MIA for anything....an IV, chemo, even just taking a blood sample, he asks loudly with a creepy grin "CAN YOU DO THAT RECTALLY?"  But I say to all of y'all "judge not lest ye be judged."  Let MIA be MIA.

I heard it was, "CAN YOU DO THAT RECTALLY… AND WOULD YOU LIKE A SEMEN SAMPLE?”. But, yeah.

Radiation wasn't nearly as debilitating as chemo for me.  It was a pain to have to go in and do it every weekday, but didn't take too long.

60% of the time it works every time.

Thanks guys. This thread has been a touchstone for me.
