1. urquidy is locked in. opportunities for the young arms, even if a trade is made. bp is taxed, him going 7 last night is huge

2. peacock - out until mid august. mri was good but he's feeling discomfort. astros are shutting him down. fuuuuuuuuck

3. t wizzle - 'it was tough'

4. diaz - full work out today, not playing. he's coming back monday or wednesday. tough roster decisions. looking forward to 3 cubans in the middle of the line up and watching all 3 hitting hr's

Luhnow:

Peacock: shut him down for a few days; MRI’s looks fine; probably won’t be back this month; realistically mid-August

White: hard having the DFA conversation with him. End of a big chapter in his life and Astros life. Probably wasn’t getting drafted if we didn’t take him. Hard to say goodbye. May not be permanent (hope it is meaning he’ll get picked up somewhere else). But way the rules work re: options, it is what it is.

Diaz: Tomorrow would be soonest he could be activated. Will be tomorrow, or Wednesday depending how sore he is after the game today. Looking forward to having 3 Cubans in the middle of the lineup.

Trade deadline:

On scouting pitching, how important are most recent starts? For us not a big deal. We’re “at” all those games anyway capturing information. A lot of lines in the water, but teams are hesitant to make sure they get best deal and the only thing triggering it is the deadline.

How many trades should we expect?: Somewhere between 1 or 2.

Whitley: Walked 4 guys the other day, not 6. He was working on a few things. Next step is to go to a full season squad by end of month.

Splitting Cole and JV after the break. But any coincidence having Cole, JV and Miley all scheduled against A’s? Hinch would neither confirm nor deny

Trading for a catcher: looking at it. Stassi is out of options so he goes if we bring one in. Stassi is part of future plans, so we’d have to consider that. Talked about Maldonado, but traded last week. We’ll still have opportunity to claim DFAs after July 31

Bukauskas: He’s been inconsistent but a little better lately; wouldn’t mind brining him up to AAA near the end of the season. Happy with progress after slow start

5. trade deadline - looking at many options. astros rarely live scout before trade deadline. they've been collecting for a much longer period. teams are hesitant still, lot of shopping going on. we have a complete team right now. looking at multiple deals but lot has to happen to get stuff done.

6. whitley - still on IL. he walked 4 guys, not 6. he was working on specific 'things'. he'll be back on a roster by end of month. sounds like he's not going back to AAA.

7. A's are playing great baseball, work cut out for us.

8. catcher - stassi is part of the future plans. fuuuuuuuuuuck still looking at options but stassi is out of options

9. boukakis - should be on AAA roster to end the season. improved consistency. whitely and martin setbacks this season, not good

the peacock news is huge
