Currently, I think the discomfort from the leg being mostly useless and the fact the Dr. wants the leg as straight as possible to keep it in alignment is causing me to overthink the entire sleep deal.  Maybe that's the anxiety.  I'm gonna give it over the weekend and see if something changes.  I have made it this far, so I got that going for me.

My doctor/PA wanted the same thing regarding getting my leg straight. It was the worst part of PT for me.  Eventually it got itself straight long after I stopped PT.  Like 6-9 months. Just regular walking and getting up and around finally took care of it.  Its all about realigning the muscles to cope with the new joint, which takes time.

Below a cut and paste of an email I just sent to my sister. Getting old does indeed suck, but if you allow the good memories to come in they will. I've been lucky. I have had, mostly, a good life, so most of my memories are good. "The Old Home Place" and Mr. Rhodes shrimp boat were places of poverty, not crushing poverty, but the people there were poor. The memories are not about money. The good memories are about places, experiences, and people. I've been lucky. I have had a good life.

"I love these pictures you send me. My mind is getting sadly weaker,
but the visual cue of these photos, 75 years old, brings a flood of
memories. Good memories. I loved "The Old Home Place". LOVED it! My
life is so much richer for having been there and allowed to play and
explore. I have a background of memories...The Old Home Place, Mr.
Rhodes shrimp boat, an unairconditioned bedroom on Bentwood Rd with
the windows open through which I could hear prop airplanes taking off.
I can hear the timbre  of the engines and propellers cutting the air,
I can hear it now. I can't remember the name of people I meet now, but
I can remember the sound of a Braniff prop airplane."

Woke up today and my left arm is mostly numb. Thought I slept on it wrong and it was asleep. 4 hours later it's still dead. Must have torn a ligament or muscle. Been having moderate bursitis in that shoulder for a couple months. Looks like I gotta go back to the surgeon. Just had my right shoulder rebuilt 2 years ago. This fucking sucks worse than ou.

Good news is I've upgraded to a cane instead of the walker and no longer need a shower chair.  Dr appt on Monday for a follow up and then across town for some vaccinations.

Could be a pinched nerve. Wife did that and it jacked her up for 18 months, give or take.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like a torn ligament or muscle.  The entire arm, or just parts of it, and if just parts which parts?  Pre-screening questions for @Sawbonz

Starting from the top going down: bursitis in shoulder, bicep hurts trying to lift my arm, below elbow interior numbness running down to my thumb which I can bend inward but can't lift at all. I can't bend my wrist toward my thumb or upward. I can kinda sort of use my hand but it is 110% spazz mode. Twisting my arm clockwise is pain from my thumb all the way up my arm past my shoulder up to my collar bone. I already have a telehealth appointment Monday morning so waiting until then. I still have everything from the surgery on the other shoulder so that's handy. Wound up wearing my sling most of the night at work. Upside is it draws sympathy points from wimmin.
