Looking for something to watch tonight.  We have a 6 month old (no pics), so our time is limited.

What should we watch?

What we do in the shadows (movie not show)

Or

Captain Marvel

What streaming service has the What We Do in the Shadows film?

Wife out of town for 3 days.  Have a random list of movies on my watchlist that I need help prioritizing, see below (have time for the top 3 or 4):

1. Steel Magnolias - Never seen, but this is the one the wife recommended.

2. The Player - Because HG and The Studio

3. Nosferatu - Only Robert Eggers movie I haven't seen

4. Fruitvale Station - Only Ryan Googler movie I haven't seen

5. Oppenheimer - Only Christopher Nolan movie I haven't seen.  Didn't watch when it came out.  Too late to jump on the bandwagon?  Heard it's kind of depressing.

6. Something Sean Baker - like Tangerine or Red Rocket.

7. Bottle Rocket - Only Wes Anderson movie I haven't seen

8. Gran Turismo - My dad recommended.

9. Inherent Vice - Only PTA movie I haven't seen

10. Summer School - Because The Studio

11. Goodfellas - Watched when I was much younger and didn't appreciate.

I want you to do a game thread of you watching Steel Magnolias.

Move Summer School way up the list as it's a perfect summer movie. Then do the Player since it's a Studio tie-in. Maybe top it with Goodfellas since Marty was on The Studio. I'd save Nosferatu for Halloween.

Your wife is out of town and you're thinking about watching Steel Magnolias? Huh. Is that going to be before or after your spa day? Make sure to get a nice bottle of rose and some bon-bons to eat while you watch.

Go with Bottle Rocket or Inherent Vice. Much better choices.

I suggest all the Dirty Harry and Death Wish movies.

Or go all NowThis. You know you want to. Just clear your browser before posting here again.

  1. Goodfellas - best movie on your list
  2. Oppenheimer - kinda long
  3. Fruitvale Station -depressing
  4. The Player -very dated references very Altman-y
  5. Nosferatu
  6. Sean Baker
  7. Bottle Rocket is proto Wes Anderson some of the stuff is there but not quite yet
  8. Inherent Vice, I like PTA but this movie was like wtf and didn't have an ending

Gran Turismo is an utterly forgettable movie that you shouldn't bother with, just read the wiki for the plot points and tell your dad you saw it. Summer School is just a bad movie that is a waste of your time and Steel Magnolias unless you were a 50 year old woman in 1989 you can skip it.

the fuck you just say to me?

what are you an NCIS fan, gotta get your Harmon fix? Summer School is a derivative and frankly a below average movie when compared to the supremely average movies its copying. Unless you were 10 years old in i1987 and have stayed that age move on.

i turned 11 in the summer of 1987, so yeah, kinda.

i don't know why it was brought up in the studio, as there are many great 80's comedies that are better and more memorable. but summer school was great then and holds up just fine - plenty of 80's comedies hold up pretty well. i have no idea if an adult would like it now on a first view and it doesn't belong on a list with goodfellas.

but it's not a bad movie nor a waste of anybody's time. and no, i don't watch ncis but i love harmon's mini-arc on west wing.

Saw that Summer School is PG-13 and stars I assume, a mostly fully clothed Kirstie Alley. What am I missing here?

Was about to suggest Caligula, but that's one to watch with your wife, and you all have probably seen it.

Yeah, it's usually a good excuse for some red meat and porn.

We have young kids, so there's about 4 free hours after they go to bed.  I dont know about you guys, but Im not as young as I once was and cant watch porn for 4 hours.  I need a good 10 mins on the backend and I'm spent.
