25% is a magic number I believe.  That usually means grandparents I think.  That's pretty direct lineage IMO.

I'm half minority (+plus I actually have some Native American) and have never felt comfortable in listing or using it because I grew up in an English speaking household.  I only allowed UT to use my minority status after I was enrolled and I still do not let the bank I work for report it.

She's a senator so maybe she can, you know pass a law?

Geee, I wonder which party controls the senate and I wonder which party is much more grotesquely beholden to large donors and runs on deregulation then complains that the government doesn't work.

This sounds more like you are in denial of your heritage.

Not at all; I believe others can greater benefit from the opportunities. Im mexican but was born and raised here in an English speaking house so I don’t feel i had any disadvantages.

There's no evidence that she personally benefited from NA status in her career, and plenty of evidence that she did not benefit at several major inflection points.  Perhaps something new will be found, but it hasn't so far.   The most reasonable conclusion based on actual evidence is that she had a weird personal identity thing about her NA ancestor.  It's a factor in the mix, and something she'll have to overcome, but it's certainly not disqualifying.

Lol you think America gives a fuck about evidence

I so don't care about the Pocahantas shit anymore. She's got a fantastic brain and a damn good platform. And we have a dangerous fucking idiot in the oval office.

"Pocahantas" should be president. Or VP. Or Sec of State. Or a Supreme Court Judge. Trump should be a prison inmate. Or an Indian casino floor manager.

So you anoint Trump as a Native American( boss in their place of business) while writing off someone else's "stolen valor" of ethnicity.

LOlz.

For realz.  We are so fucked up with this bullshit.

At this point, unless a Democratic rival shot somebody on 5th Avenue, any attempts to seek scandal equilibrium with Trump will be transparently ridiculous.

Put a bow on it? Yes, Bernie Sanders' former press secretary is just the Democrat to go to for a quote.

The entire gist of this piece is, "Sure she explained how it happened, but she needs to talk about it as much as we want to cover it."

I'm still wide open on who gets my vote, but I think an important data point with Warren is she's indisputably the most dangerous candidate to the plutocracy.

Trump supporters in the mentions here getting self righteous about lies smh

Also, there’s something insidiously wack about painting her route into college as more egregiously unfair than mediocre students on the legacy express or daddy paying for a new building.

PREACH!

All I know is this. When I listened to the caricatures of Elizabeth Warren I didnt like her much. Didn't hate her but I didn't have any enthusiasm for her. However, when I listened to her speech yesterday I really liked her.

Now I'm a supporter. I'd be happy to vote for her.

She has some strong ideas for sure.

She lied about her heritage for preferential treatment & career advancement.

BUT she did it to help others!  That she became a millionaire, Harvard professor as a result was just a fortuitous side effect.

@bad_teammate you hate that she did this?  Or that I pointed it out?

Because there is nothing factually inaccurate about what I've posted.

It's factually inaccurate.

The guy who recruited minorities for hire at Harvard said that her heritage wasn't considered.

There is no evidence that she told any hiring committee or put it on any job application or hiring form.

You're a lying, piece of shit, garbage sock.

There's no evidence she benefitted from her claims.  She was educated at GWU, UH, and Rutgers law school, none of which are particularly prestigious or robust academic institutions.

By most accounts, she worked her way up the academic food chain by being a subject-matter expert.

She put it on her Texas Bar application.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/02/05/politics/warren-american-indian-texas-bar/index.html

We're to assume this was a one time event?  Because that's especially hard to believe considering she's touted her 'Native American' heritage including in her time at Harvard as their 'first woman of color' (that color being white...I guess?) .

Here you can read from a student at Harvard Law during her time there, and about the events prior to her joining the Harvard Law faculty.  He/She admits that Warren was a qualified professor, but it cannot be denied that she was given the opportunity at a time when Harvard was under pressure to hire minorities.  In addition Harvard advertised her as such.

We can pretend all we want, but there is little doubt that she was given a prestigious position based on her fraudulent heritage.  That position allowed her access to many other opportunities.

https://www.weeklystandard.com/jennifer-braceras/one-of-elizabeth-warrens-harvard-law-students-explains-why-her-native-american-gambit-matters

And let's not for a minute pretend that there were not viable ways to determine ancestry at the time, or that there wasn't benefit (especially in the academic community) to being 'Native American' vs just another white person.

Things that are not true and have not been proven are very easy to deny, shit-filled sock.

It's even easier when the guy who was in charge of recruiting racial minorities says Warren wasn't considered as a racial minority.

What benefits come from that?

I don't believe we've seen all the other applications...but you can't just start a lie from nothing.  This doesn't give direct privileged, but it does show that she used her 'status' as a fake Native American.  Any job she applied for will also have this as her ethnicity, and she'd need to have her Bar application match that lie to continue the fraud.

My guess is this is just one of the endless applications with her claim of being 'Native American' but like Obama's education records we'll likely never see them.

It's also why she won't claim to never have used Native American status on any other applications.

Look, all politicians lie.

But this one should be especially abhorrent to leftists.  Warren fraudulently utilized the mechanisms put in place to take opportunity from someone who is a 'victim' of 'social injustice'

If you found out that Ted Cruz had only gotten into college due to claiming fraudulent Native American status you'd want to hang him...not make him President.

Last time I checked, fraud requires intent. As far as I can tell, Elizabeth Warren did not intend to defraud anyone. She actually believed she was part Native American.

Would the idiots in this thread like to argue that he wouldn't do this if she never spoke about it again? Or maybe she just hasn't said the right combination of words to make the right stop?

Pick a side and be on it, you fucking cowards.

Counter point: fuck both of them

She is part Native American.

Obviously not in any significant or meaningful way, but it is scientifically proven to be part of her heritage.
