My Dad told me that in the 1930's my uncle was a lineman for the TVA. They used to camp down by the river and the distilleries would just throw away used barrels into the river. They would fish them out of the river and get what was leftover/squeezed out of the wood by the cold water. The original Devil's Cut.

Straight bourbon is always preferable to blended whiskey. With bourbon at least you know what your dealing with. The word blended is a slippery slope.
