  2. The NBA Cup seems to be improving and it does make Fall NBA a bit more interesting.
  3. @notre dame joe would you please use the word "independence" in your response to this question?: please explain why notre dame believes notre dame is entitled to a special set of rules that apply only to notre dame
  4. non-responsive
  5. Possibly. I don't see how 25 minutes for the best player on the floor is something we can ignore. When OG played 38 and Brunson played 40. As soon as he stepped on the court it was clear he was out of sync, but I don't blame that on him. He got inserted into a dogfight while the dogs had already been biting and he's 80% at best. 2027 was the goal back in October. This team is better than what we thought we had back in October.
  6. Early Margot Robbie
  7. This example is lost on today’s QBs who say they want to win but demand to “reset the QB market” even before their current contract expires. The Rams made it work in Stafford’s first year because Detroit ate the signing bonus and dead money on his contract. The Chiefs have regressed every season recently the deeper they get into Mahomes’s deal and the less money they have to spend on OL/DL. Ravens, Bills, and Bengals (Burrow injury noted) have the other big star QBs on second contracts and all are at risk of missing the playoffs.
  8. As a kid growing up in Amarillo, Rabbit Ears, Sierra Grande, and Capulin always whetted my appetite for the bigger mountains you get to see when you cross over Raton Pass and start to see the Spanish Peaks. I've been over that road more times than I can count, at least now you have passing lanes instead of a two lane highway all the way to I-25. My favorite way out of Amarillo, thougn, is to go up Boys Ranch Road, so you at least get more of the varied topography of the Canadian River Breaks, instead of the boring drive up to Dumas.
  9. So now the 3 NBA Cup champs are... See if you can remember without looking.
  10. Well it's in the report now: Did they go back and edit it?
  11. That stat about Troy's winning streak (something like 70) when they are leading heading into the 4th qtr is f'n crazy.
  12. Lavrov: the Americans have told us clearly that those lands where Russians have lived for centuries must become Russian again. He didn’t specify whether that includes Kyiv or Odesa in addition to Donbas and Crimea. Draw your own conclusions about the value of “platinum standard” security promises.
  13. My brother is an addict. Started smoking anything he could light on fire in middle school, then started selling it out of his bedroom window. After I moved away to college, he got into harder stuff and stole money from my parents' money market account to buy drugs. They kicked him out and he eventually made his way to Austin. He got a DUI in Travis County in 2007. We weren't speaking much then, so when I got a call from jail at 7 am I was more than surprised. After we hung up I made some calls and got him released without bail since he was a first-time offender. I guess there's still a lot of paperwork that has to happen, and one has to be given time to sober up, because at noon the same day he called back from jail. Started telling me the same exact story I'd heard 5 hours earlier. I cut him off, told him he was a fucking asshole, and that I was not going to pick him up. I called his roommate who went and got him. He did alcohol counseling and stopped drinking. Still smokes weed like a chimney but as far as I know, it's the only thing he smokes. We got a lot closer after that, mainly due to his outreach to me (we have no other siblings). He still makes shit financial choices but has had a steady job for a long time and an apartment near us. He takes care of our dog when we're out of town and he would murder anyone who messed with that dog. He'd also murder anyone who messed with me, or my family. When I had to have emergency surgery last year, he was the first to call about visiting me at the hospital. Lately things have been shakier than usual. His electricity almost got cut off and he almost got evicted until my parents intervened. He doesn't ask me for money or for a place to stay because he knows I'd say no, but if his dog needs food or if he needs to borrow a carpet cleaner or whatever, I'm ok with that. A few months ago he mentioned that he started drinking again. Not much, he says. But I know how it goes. We come from a family of alcoholics. I guess all this is to say, I can see how someone can try and fail to help an addict they love. Not to be cliche, but even addicts contain multitudes. The Reiners, I'm sure, held out hope until the last minute. When it's your kid, I imagine it's another order of magnitude of difficulty. What a tragedy.
  14. Could’ve had the Falcons’ top 10 pick if Caserio had called them before dealing the pick to NYG.
  15. For those who don’t know, her mother, Danielle (Strader) Bordi, was a swimmer at Texas
  16. Yikes? 2 minutes in the box for embellishment.
  17. Portillo’s just signed an agreement with a building I can see from one of our corner offices. I half hope it gets held up with red tape so I don’t gain 20# this summer.
  18. He doesn’t box out, tries to use his length to tap the ball to a teammate or grab the ball over the defender, which works like 99% of the time. Robinson is that 1%.
  19. That’s regarded
  20. Motorcycles and station wagons and Scooby Doo vans last month and this month...horses.
