  1. Past hour
  2. That song playing at that moment is perfect. All this white on white violence out there these days. Bunch of domestic terrorists
  3. Felling trees is for the professionals. My aunt had a mismanaged tree on her property. Instead of hiring professionals, she asked her landscaper to take it down. The landscaper brought his brother and 15 YO son to help. No PPE, no training, the wrong tools, lots of machismo. Well, the son stood under the tree and got hit by a falling branch. A week and 3 surgeries later, he died.
  4. Time to get hot like the mariners. Finish the sweep. take 2 of the 3 from the mariners (and win the tiebreaker) run down the tigers for the 2 seed.
  5. Was watching the game with my dad and recall us picking up a 4th down running play with some misdirection and saying “I bet Sark wasn’t planning on busting that out against UTEP.” I think Sark has been doing a delicate dance between going vanilla, holding guys out, and trying to do only basic shit while avoiding catastrophe and he’s really walking the edge thus far this season. I don’t think he’s doing a great job because it looks like shit. Not sure how much to be down on him for it because no one could’ve predicted Arch would suck this badly.

    High

Late night sports radio is awful.
  7. I'm a fellow architect but probably closer to the end of my career (if architects can be said to have such a thing). I'm quite conversant in the metric system and read Portuguese well enough to get through a set of drawings (lol specs though). Unfortunately my career has mostly been in high-rise residential, not really anything in much demand in the Algarve. That said, pay for architects is terrible in Europe and the UK, and whenever the time comes to go I'll likely do something else altogether. (I've already done much of the legwork, prior to this administration, so it'd just be a matter of sending some money and paperwork to my attorney in Lisbon.) StassneyHorn is correct; the USA is an extremely expensive place to live; those who say they can't afford to live overseas probably should dig a little deeper. There are many amazing places out there with reasonable residency visas, more and more of the digital nomad variety. The holy grail is maintaining your US income for an expat COL, but even without that it's quite doable. If you go the pension/guaranteed income route, Portugal only requires something like $36k p.a. income; very tolerable places like Malaysia or the Philippines require a lot less and actively seek retirees.
  8. It might've been a joke that we were pointing to the SHSU as the breakout game of our season.
  9. Kind of wild how much it really hit the mark, back in the early 90s.
  10. What’s the saying? Libertarians are either Republicans who like drugs or Democrats who don’t wanna pay taxes?
  11. There's almost no physical evidence being presented in this case. Just completely weird. You'd think they'd get the bullet, do GSR on this kid's clothes, test the rifle to see if it had been fired, etc. These are all standard gumshoe practices when investigating a shooting. Not as important to the Trump run Feds as making sure everyone knows this kid is a trans loving leftist or whatever. Another weird thing to me is how limited the online evidence is against this guy. So we've supposedly got these texts where he confesses to literally everything like the world's biggest idiot. The other evidence was him being a gamer and using Discord and the messages they got off of that app. Messages where absolutely nothing of note about Trump or Kirk or anything political is discussed whatsoever. Just that this guy pretended not to be the shooter and then later confesses to his Discord pals that he offed Kirk, says he appreciates them, and then says goodbye. Uh, what the fuck? You don't have this guy's social media? He never posted on Reddit even though one of his classmates specifically described him as a "Reddit kid?" He doesn't have an Instagram, a Snapchat, a Twitter account, nothing? Nothing about his Internet search history? Did he wipe his computer before he went to shoot Kirk or something? Or, is it that it would completely torpedo the narrative of this guy being a sweet, innocent MAGA child that got poisoned by the Left's evil rhetoric into becoming a trans loving killer if you showed what he'd actually been doing online? I doubt ol' Patel and friends would want to tell all of us that his search history is full up of Nick Fuentes videos and that the most trafficked site he goes to is 4chan. Sorry, but this guy can't just be online to play Helldivers. How in the world did he get radicalized to hate Kirk if he wasn't gorging himself on internet political content?
  12. You're going to get some not so great seats your first year, like GA or down the LF line or RF line in the sun. Those are not as expensive. I had seats this year in 103 (under the awning, home dugout baseline, looking straight down the 3rd base line so great for seeing shots down that line), but started out several years ago with just GA tickets, then worked my way into reserved, then under the awning, then close to behind home plate. My wife and I also had several more kids in that timeframe, so my number of tickets increased so I can take the whole family when we all want to go, or give/sell some of them on games we can't all go. I found my history in my email - it's a little unclear on the exact costs because nothing is itemized, you pay renewal in the fall, any extra costs in the spring, and seat gifts aren't broken out. I'm sure they do it so you don't have to explain to your spouse the large changes all at one. 2022, I had 2 tickets total (first season I had season tickets) - both GA. Total was $200 for the season ($99/per seat + a $1 fee per seat). I think I also had to donate $50 to the LHF to do that. So total 2 GA seats + donation was $250. 2023, I had 4 tickets total - 2GA ($99 each), and 2 Reserved seats in L3 ($175 each). No seat gift, but again, I think I had to donate at least $50 to LHF (I had donated more for football, so I was already good there). I also got a parking pass, which I think was $250 for the season (and totally worth it IMO). So total of 4 Seats (2 GA, 2 Reserved) + Parking Pass was just under $800. 2024, I had 4 tickets total, 2 Reserved seats in L3 ($175 each), 2 Reserved seats in 109 (way up under the awning, last row, $250 each), and I got a parking pass. The total for 4 seats (but in 2 separate sections) + Parking was ~$1,700 for the season. I don't remember what the seat gift was for the seats in 109, but I know there was one. I also missed my slot, so I think I had made a "Seat Gift" in fall for 4 seat gift seats but only wound up able to get 2 in 109, so part of that gift was wasted. 2025, I had 6 tickets total, all Reserved in 103 ($250 each), plus parking. Total for that all of that was about $1,800, but there was also a seat gift required, of I want to say $200 per ticket, so the total would be right around $3K for the 6 tickets, seat gifts, and parking pass. However, since they are "decoupling" football giving from Baseball giving, I have no idea what that will do to the get in price or seat gifts required going forward.
  13. Not sure what your financial situation is but for the most part America is one of the highest COL countries on Earth and leaving it will stretch whatever US savings or leverage you have further. If the idea is get to Mexico and then figure it out afterwards-- Investing a couple hundred thousand into funds like QQQI (Nasdaq 100 income fund), SPYI (S&P 500 income fund), or BTCI (Bitcoin income fund) can give you an easy life abroad as they pay monthly distributions. Alot of US banks and digital banks make currency exchanges easier than ever for small fees- Charles Schwab is well known for it, as well as a newer startup called Wise that gets a ton of attention. Robin Hood is rolling out a banking option soon as well to keep eyes on.
  14. I saw it once. It was more than I needed to see it. Reveling in violence as a society just begets more of it. We passed that point a good while back though.
  15. They were concussed many times. Which is why they act the way they do now.
  16. very shady returns 😎😎
  17. People like DDD hope that your attention span is no longer than a gif. I wonder how we got here. A couple weeks ago. Degenerates gonna degenerate. Words gonna words.
  18. The last part is probably why I left. Watching what should be fiction now possibly turning into reality kinda hits home with me. Hoffman’s kid is going to be in some really big movies. He’s not getting jobs because of his name. He’s talented.
  19. I guess a bunch of Longhorn fans are going to see Bowling for Soup at Longhorn City Limits
  20. So the FBI Director today testified that world’s most famous sex trafficker… wasn’t a sex trafficker? We have victims. And their testimony. And god knows how much evidence. I mean, this was a massive operation that lasted decades. WTF? This is off the charts for even these people. Please tell me this won’t be something else we sort of pay attention to for a day or two and then forget so we can move on to the next one.
  21. What's the old saying, "If you can't spot the asshole on the room..." Always seems to be someone else's fault in her world.
